This bright, quiet and creative home is located on Branciforte Drive, across from DeLaveaga Park. Walk across the street to miles of dog friendly hiking trails. Amazing and peaceful treetop views from this very private, yet close to town, home located in the banana belt of Santa Cruz. 2 minutes to the freeway, 5 minutes drive to boardwalk, beaches, yacht harbor, downtown, and 10 minute drive to UCSC - yet it seems like a private retreat! Two bedrooms, open kitchen, dining and living area, plus downstairs living room with a pull-out couch to accommodate guests. 2 full bathrooms with beautiful attention to detail. Japanese soaking tub in master bath, natural granite slate shower with 2 shower heads in downstairs bath. Two bedrooms, with amazing pillow top king size bed and picture window, downstairs bedroom that has a queen size bed and picture window plus a loft. Loft is best suited for kids and young adults as it's up a ladder. Also outdoor shower with total privacy. Picture windows in each room, also with total privacy. Lovely deck and fenced terraced yard with fruit trees. Fully furnished, and pet friendly. Lots of sunshine and light open space. This home has a beautiful retreat-like feel, drive to the beach, surf, see a show downtown, then come home and relax! Step from the thoroughfare of Branciforte Drive into a peaceful and relaxing retreat from the world.

Branciforte Drive is just slightly outside of downtown Santa Cruz, but in a quieter and more peaceful setting. The house location is at the very beginning of Branciforte Drive, about 2 miles before the Mystery Spot, and directly across the street from a very popular trailhead at DeLaveaga Park park. It is popular with local road cyclist and mountain bikers The home is also situated between 2 great golf courses, right out front is DeLaveaga Golf Club and Lodge and a mile over to the west is Pasa Tiempo Golf Club

Why Owner/Manager chose Santa Cruz

Designing a modern house in Santa Cruz doesn't have to mean building from the ground up. The renovation of this country cottage, build in 1948, enabled me to mix the charming elements from the past with modern details and bring an old building into the future.

I designend and remodeled this home for my specs, every little aspect of it was well thought through - plenty of natural light, maximized winter sun, shaded harsh summer rays, modern amenities, a drought resistant yet beautiful backyard - a supercool, minimal, modernist house.

What makes this house unique

very quiet and private house, airy, bright but cozy, inspirational yet modest. But most importantly, modern yet in keeping with the rustic charm of the country. Design-build almost from the ground up with a new foundation, new windows , new utilities, custom-built workspaces and interior millwork. We used repurposed timbres for interior shelving and storage. The home, partially tucked into the trees, provides expansive views of the green lush valley through large windows that inject light into the space and provide inspiration. West facing beautiful sunsets!

Perfect Location in Santa Cruz

Perfect spot to be close to everything but out of the craziness of the beach area. Very modern house that is perfect for 2 people, can work with 4 people but probably tricky with 6 people. Not great if you have little kids but works with teens. Also, works great with dogs because of the large enclosed backyard. Very clean and well stocked. We would return.

Best of Both Worlds! Serene Country Cottage Only Five Minutes from the Best of Santa Cruz!!

I am writing this review after our third stay at this wonderful home! Not only is the house modern, clean and accommodating, but it 's location is super convenient. You can be on the 1, 17 or the beach truly within 5 minutes!! My family, (2 adults, 2 kids (10 & 8)) and 2 pups find absolute serenity once we arrive at this wonderful getaway. The owner, Pat, has done such an amazing job with the use of space in the house. We love, as a family, to have our meals together upstairs, looking out onto peacefulness of the forest, but then the kids disperse to the downstairs, where they can hang out in the lounge/TV area or the bedroom with a cool loft. The kitchen is perfectly stocked and well provided. We love cooking with the Wedgewood!! The trails at Delaveaga Park, which are directly across the street, are great for the dogs and for seeing Banana Slugs!! Plus, You are only 2 miles from the adventure of the Mystery Spot!! All in all, this house is an absolute gem!! The combination of gorgeous house and amazing owner makes this a place we will return to again and again!!

Delightful Santa Cruz spot

The house is a lovely, airy and light-filled place, perched on the side of a hill. The deck is perfect for morning coffee or evening wine. It's a quick drive into town. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

You must be 25 to rent. This place is ideal for families with kids or 2 couples. Great for entertaining but not a party house. It is avery mellow neighborhood.
