Vacation is recharge, reinvigorate and reconnect with others. Our beach house is special, set in the Historic Ottawa Beach District. How is this special, This association was formed in 1886 and plotted spas every lot bordered on a park. Our beach house has a park in front and behind it. The cottage next door is 130 years old. You park your car and walk down the sidewalk just like they did 100 years ago. It is a true neighborhood. The book The Wizard of Oz was written here in1899 by Frank Baum. Future President Gerry Ford sent his summers here at his families beach house three houses down the walk. In building the cottage a nod to nostalgia included the incorporating of reclaimed 150 year old virgin white pine beams for the ceiling, using turn of the century belt driven ceiling fans and wood textured interior walls. All this history helps us to harken back to a simpler time. A hidden reading nook with views over Lake Michigan. Sound insulation between floors, all contributing to quiet contemplation or that conversation that needed just the right time.

Amazing place, beautiful, clean, and spacious and loved how close to the beach we were. Will definitely be booking again!
Perfect Lake Michigan vacation home! This home is beautiful! Immaculately clean. Owners were great/easy to work with. Our group included 8 adults and 7 children. Three levels of living space were ideal. We never felt overcrowded. Each adult couple had own room. Kids loved sleeping in bunks in lower level. No waiting for bathrooms as there were 4 full and 1 half. Kitchen/dining ideal set-up for large group. We all sat comfortably and enjoyed each other's company. We loved the location! Easy access to beach with short walk down boardwalk. Loved that is was close to the General Store and Mt. Pisgah/walking trails. Short drive to downtown. We will be back!
((NOTE: I actually arrived at this house On 08/31/12 not 13)) Honestly, this house is amazing, surrounded by beautiful nature and forest, it feels amazing. The beach access was great and there were no problems. I stayed here with some family and friends, and they loved this house! I was so excited to say that I found this on Homeaway.com. I honestly can not express in words how amazing and beautiful this house and it's outdoor surroundings truly are. I love the wagons as well that you can use to transport things from place to place. I had alot of fun taking walks through the forest, making this such a comfortable stay, and just having a good time. The living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, balcony, screened in porch, big bathtub, and bathrooms were amazing! Every night I satyed I had the most amazing hot baths in the Master Bathroom. I only stayed for a weekend that one time, and I really wish I stayed here much longer. I hope to stay here again in the future for at least one week or weekend! Too bad all summer is booked up. :/ But maybe a weekend this spring, or I'm hoping to work something out for a weekend during memorial day weekend. In summary, this house is truly amazing, and you will have some good times here, It is an amazing house, and I definitely think that whatever chance you get to stay, stay here! I just can't express how amazing this house is. :-)
