3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Country Cottage On The Beach
Jim and Brenda Randall
About Jim and Brenda Randall
The Randall's are 'Come From Aways'. We were born in Toronto and Ottawa and have lived in Saskatchewan and British Columbia. We have called Charlottetown, PEI, home for the past four years and want to share a piece of 'The Gentle Island' with others.
Jim and Brenda Randall purchased this Cottage in 2011
Why Jim and Brenda Randall chose New London
We bought this property because it had character and all the amenities we could ever want. Right on the water, it allowed us the privacy of a family-owned property. In addition, as a member of the Hebrides community, we had access to a heated, in-ground swimming pool and a nine hole par-3 golf course for ourselves and our 14-year old.
What makes this Cottage unique
When we were looking for a cottage we visited many of what I would call 'modular home' cottages. They all seemed to be the same. When we saw this one, it was a one of a kind and reminded me of what a cottage should be, both inside and out.

One of our best family holidays!
We had such a great week at this cottage. Jim was really easy to deal with and very quick to answer any questions that we had. The cottage is really clean and well decorated and has a really neat rustic charm to it. We have 3 kids and there was tons for them to do at the cottage or across the street at the pool and mini put course. In the waterfront at the cottage you can play in the knee deep water, dig for clams or enjoy the kayaks. The water is nice and calm so we had no concerns letting our kids play out there. We would recommend water shoes as there are lots of shells and it can be a bit mucky when the tide is out, but that's great clam digging time, we found tons! The shed beside the cottage is also full of lots of treasures, we were so thankful that the owners shared all their personal toys and games with us.
One of the biggest perks of this cottage was that it's part of the larger Hebrides community which gives you access to a heated pool, 9 hole golf course, mini put course and games room. The kids loved playing 9 holes with us after dinner and we were often the only ones on the course.
The cottage is nice and close to all the local attractions of Stanley Bridge and Cavendish, but slightly set apart so you don't get all the crowds and traffic. The owners left some suggestions of where to go and what to see in a very informative booklet and we found that quite helpful.
We would highly recommend staying here and were quite sad to leave!
All that was advertised and more!
The cottage was in a great location. Close enough to all we wanted to see but wonderfully peaceful. Plenty of room for 7 women. Full kitchen with all the gear. Lots of great books. Didn’t miss the tv at all. Mr. Randall was an attentive owner who has made the extra effort to have all a guest could ask for. Would highly recommend this cottage. We would rent it again in a heartbeat.
Perfect location with all the commodites
Our family had a marvelous time on PEI in Jim and Brenda’s perfectly appointed cottage. Rain or shine there is always something fun to do with all that is included. The location is perfect for numerous day trips. Sunsets are marvellous and the quiet surrondings make for a very relaxing vacation. If you’re a little epicurian and like to cook like I do, the kitchen is well equipped. For groceries it’s worth a drive to Summerside to the Atlantic Superstore.
The cottage was perfect. It was clean, well stocked and we couldn't ask for a better location. We had 7 people- including 3 young children and the activities kept them busy. Having the community complex with the pool and golf course was a huge asset. We would return here for another vacation for sure!
Very nice, relaxing
Jim was great answering all my questions upfront via email and met us in person right when we arrived. The cottage is lovely and the setting perfect. Jim showed us everything in the shed for our use and in the house.
The firepit is a great addition and enjoyed it a couple of nights, firewood and marshmallow roasting sticks provided! Perfect location for watching the sunset and it is very pretty, get a great view over the bay.
We were able to leave our kayaks right near the firepit so did not have to port them far to launch. The tide is pretty low in this area until you get out and around to the west side of the island which is only about a mile. We enjoyed paddling to the national park which is a mile across and not many people there. There is also a nice, sandy beach near the lighthouse which you can either paddle to or drive and park. I biked a couple of times, the road into the cottage is a bit bumpy (packed red clay) but not bad. Very scenic, long rolling hills.
We found a couple nice dining options on our travels around the island and the lobster dinner at New Glasgow is highly recommended, great way to end our trip!
The cafe that provided WiFi is no longer open currently, we had data, so either do that or better yet, leave your devices off and enjoy! The island is beautiful, people are friendly (a woman in the grocery store told us where to get fresh lobster so we could make our own lobster rolls for picnic lunches) and the music is great (nearby Stanley Music Hall has a concert every night and at intermission have great local ice cream and strawberries).
Jim and Brenda have a lovely cottage in a beautiful setting with all the amenities for a very nice, relaxing and enjoyable vacation. Would highly recommend.
P.S. Just a couple updates and additions to the booklet would be helpful but know that information can change so you just have to check some things out as you explore.
Loads of fun and room for three generations!
We had a wonderful holiday at this cottage. Plenty of room and loads of activities. Lots of gear for young and old to play with. It is located in a quiet community but minutes to lots of tourist attractions and great places to eat. There were several welcoming dining choices close by and a great fresh seafood market. We were disappointed the pool was unavailable but that was unforeseen and certainly beyond the owners control. The waterfront at the cottage kept all of us busy and we had several perfect beaches within minutes. We would definitely recommend this cottage and hope to return soon. Our grandchildren actually cried the day we left! Loved it!
Cavendish and Prince Edward Island National Park is only a 10 minute drive from the cottage. Here, you have access to pristine ocean beaches, several of the top public golf courses in Canada, amusement and water parks for the kids and the famous 'Anne of Green Gables' village. You are a 5 minute drive from the Stanley Bridge fishing village. Wander the stores for antiques and local crafts, launch your boat and buy some fresh seafood to grill on the BBQ when you get home. Almost every summer weekend you will find festivals and attractions, both locally as well as in the 'big city' of Charlottetown 40 minutes away.
