Overview

About the property

2 Bedroom, 1 Bath, Sleeps up to 5

Casa de la Rana is setting on a knoll of 5 acres, you will feel like you are out in the middle of the woods, but with this location you're actually in the 'center of it all'. Surrounded by tree's there is not a neighbor in sight, yet just a short drive east and you will be in Sequim with all of it's shopping and of course the wonderful Dungeness spit. An even shorter drive west will take you into Port Angeles, Hurricane Ridge, the ferry to Victoria B.C. Or to the further coastal beaches and the Hoh rain forest.

Back at the Casa, relax in the steam sauna, or just sit outside on one of two decks and enjoy the peace and solitude that nature provides listening to the singing of the hundreds of tree frogs in season.

Perfect for a family of 4, but there also is a sofa bed if needed.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Day 1:

We enjoyed the quiet of the house and peacefulness of the yard. We came from Cashmere, WA to see the rainforest.

Day 2:

Today we hiked in the Hoh Rain forest and it truly lived up to its name as we were soaked. We headed to Sol Duc Falls for a little drier walk. Beautiful.

Day 3:

Visited Marymere Falls, better than Sol duc and less crowded. also went to Hurricane Ridge and enjoyed the view. Topped off with lunch at the Oak Table Cafe in Sequim--Don't Miss It!!

Thank you for having us.

Excellent cottage in a quiet location

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is located in a very quiet area and was close to grocery stores and lavender farms. The cottage is located about the same distance from Port Angeles and Sequim. Olympic National Park is only a few short miles from the cabin. We saw three buck deer feeding in the front yard one afternoon. The kitchen is equipped with any cookware that you might need to prepare a full meal. The cleanliness of the cabin was excellent. The washer and dryer was a nice addition. We were two couples so two bedrooms and one bathroom worked well for us. The front porch was always a nice place to set and enjoy nature and a cool breeze. AT&T cell phone service was very good at this location. We would stay at the Casa de la Rana aka House of the Frogs if we get to this area again.

Clean Getaway

  • 4 of 5

The Frog House was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. We used it as a base for day trips into the north side of Olympic National Park. My husband and I and our two kids, ages 7 and 3, stayed for two nights.

The house is set slightly off the road (you can hear, but not see traffic) in the woods. Perhaps a better name would be The Deer House? We saw several deer, as well as evidence of coyotes. The deer were very used to humans, maybe have even been fed by people staying here, unfortunately. One buck walked onto the deck, looking into the open back door while we made no effort to be quiet. Also, a large number of slugs gathered around the back deck. A great adventure in which the kids engaged.

The house itself is tidy, the beds comfortable, laundry facilities much appreciated. A big selection of movies and board games for the rainy days. The only cloud over our visit were the rules posted....take off your shoes, don't flush weird things down the toilet, clean the kitchen if you use it, etc. We felt we were being reprimanded by our parents over common sense issues. Perhaps it's based on previous clients' bad behavior, but we walked on eggshells, worrying we were breaking some rule.

One recommendation would be to provide a key drop in Port Angeles. Driving back to Sequim to return keys, especially when you're not headed that way for the day, is inconvenient at best. The traffic during our visit (July), was considerable. The trip added 45 minutes to a day that was already busy.

Fantastic & charming

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here with my 2 young children and had a fantastic time. Very comfortable, quiet, private and clean. Kids had a blast running around the yard. Home is fully stocked with everything you need for a short or long term stay. Owner/property manager was wonderful to work with and VERY accommodating. Excellent location between Sequim & Port Angeles. Have recommended this place to friends already.
