Our three generation family of 12 just spent two wonderful weeks on this beautiful oasis property. The two homes on a self-contained, secluded, nearly 4-acre lot were perfect for us, giving plenty of “free range” for the four cousins (ages 8, 5, 5 & 2) to explore together, including climbing trees and playing ball in the large open area, yet privacy in separate homes when it came time to settle down and go to sleep. And, best of all, we didn’t have to worry about them disturbing neighbors or wandering into traffic, as the property is located up a long driveway away from the country road and other homes. Each house was fully stocked and nicely appointed, with each of the four couples having private baths, and the large common areas easily accommodated all 12 of us for meal times. The fenced-in private pool between the two homes also provided a perfect gathering spot.

The owner/managers, Laurie and Steve, were delightful—quickly responding to any needs we had and extremely understanding and accommodating—and the booking agent, Darla, was friendly, efficient and very professional. The property is also an incredible value.

While we had been to Maui eight other times, we had never stayed in the “Up Country.” Wow!! What a difference!! We were able to unplug, get off the grid a bit, and not feel like we were living in the middle of a tourist spot. The nearby towns of Makawao, Haiku and Pa’ia provided great restaurants and quaint shopping areas not overrun with tourists. And the location was a perfect jumping off spot for the Road to Hana and the Haleakala Crater, cutting nearly two hours off the Hana trip compared to those travelling from parts of the Ka’anapali area. The nearby “Baby Beach” in Sprecklesville was perfect for the grandkids, complete with sea turtles, while the Millennials in the group could move up Baldwin Beach to play in the waves. And, when we wanted a change of pace, driving to Lahaina on one end, or Kihei, Wailea and Makena on the other, took only about an hour.

Thanks Laurie, Steve and Darla for giving us a family vacation we will long remember!

Just stayed on the property. Beautiful estate. The homes will not disappoint. Everyone had private areas, yet, plenty of room for family dinners. Not far from the beach or shopping. The owners were awesome, We will definitely stay again.

Wonderful large-family retreat

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 12 had a fantastic vacation on Maui at Haiku Malu, and it was wonderful to come "home" at the end of each day's adventure and all be together. We really appreciated the relaxing, soothing atmosphere of the property, the beautiful plantings and fruit trees, and all of the space just to roam, and when needed, even find a quiet place. There was plenty of room in the two houses for four couples and four young grand-kids, and was the perfect set-up for both private and shared time. Everyone had a great time playing in the pool, and it was so refreshing to jump in just to cool off and re-energize. We loved having all of the pool toys and gear available to help our swim time be safe and fun. Thank you, Darla, for assisting us with the arrangements, and Steve, for checking in to assure that everything was to our liking. You allowed us to create a very special family time together, and build some memories for a lifetime.

Great homes for large groups!

  • 5 of 5

I highly recommend this property. I took my daughter for her graduation trip along with 10 other young adults. Two very spacious homes in Haiku were perfect accommodations for our group of 12! All the fruit trees on the property were just awesome. We travel and like to stay away from the resorts and tourist areas and this property was just that, right in the middle of all the locals. The home was very well stocked with everything we needed. I must say one of the better stocked homes that we have rented. Laurie and Stevie were so helpful with everything and brought us some of the best pies we have ever had, passion fruit and banana!!! Loved their love for the Hawaii. Not on a beach but a few beaches(Baldwin Beach, surfer beach and don't recall name of others) are just a short 8-10 minute drive from the property. If you want touristy, this is not the place for you but it was perfect for my crowd! We hope to return and stay here again. Mahalo Laurie and Stevie!!!

Aj and Nora Waters .....we highly recommend this property

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our time at this property. We walked through both homes to decide who will be staying where and walking through the homes they were filled with so much LOVE AND PEACE. The pool was so awesome the kids and big kids really enjoyed it! The yard is filled with beautiful, lush plants and fruits to enjoy. It was so relaxing and quiet we loved it!!! Everything in these homes were so beautiful and well prepared for us. It is definitely a way better experience to be on vacation in these comfortable homes with just your family instead of a stuffy hotel filled with strangers.... THANK YOU DARLA, LAURIE AND STEVIE!!!!!!
