About Perry and Terry Hotz
We are 3rd generation Colorado natives. Terry is semi retired having worked as a teacher and administrator for over 30 years. Perry is a real estate broker having owned his own office for over 35 years. We have 3 children (all grown and with families of their own ). We live near Ouray, but always loved going there... so we purchased this home as a family retreat.. a gathering place for all of us. It has served us well, but we can only use it so much... so we have decided to make it available for others to enjoy.
Perry and Terry Hotz purchased this House in 2006
Why Perry and Terry Hotz chose Ouray
It is in a perfect location for the total enjoyment of Ouray and all it has to offer. Being only 2 blocks off Main Street, it is an easy walk to the Ouray Hot Springs Pool, and all of the shops and restaurants in town. It is a short walk to the Ice Park if you do ice climbing or just want to watch. It is a short walk to Box Canyon and the Ouray Perimeter Trail. If you enjoy ATVs and 4 wheeling, Ouray is for you. It is referred to as the Jeep capital of the world. Bring your own or rent them in town. If skiing is your bag, Telluride is only an hour away, and the Ouray Hot Springs will soak away the soreness of the day of hiking, skiing, cross county skiing, or ..... just the everyday stress. From your stay here, at our home, you won't have to load everyone up and drive to dinner or breakfast, or to the pool.. just gather them up and take a stroll.
What makes this House unique
This charming Victorian home was built in 1895 and updated over the years. It gives the feel of the older mining days but offers the conveniences of jetted soaking tub, laundry, gas fireplace, satellite TV.. Sit on the front porch and you can't help but stare at the mountains that surround you (you don't have to go outside to see them ).

Sports & Adventure Activities
well prepared, lovely community, could not have been better except the town closes their hot pool on several days of the week - it was the big attraction
Very roomy place, love Ouray
It felt like we were staying at a friend's home. There was ample room for all and it was kid-friendly. It was nice having a fenced in yard and the grill since the weather is so lovely in the summer. The location is easy walking distance to the main street in town but quiet.
If I'm being honest, it was slightly off-putting to have so many personal effects all around the house (there were many half empty shampoo/conditioner bottles, too many kitchen things, personal items in some drawers). The owners have thoughtfully appointed this home, but if it were up to me, I would edit out much of the extra stuff.
Overall, we loved our time here. If you have a large group, book this place now, you will be glad you did!
Great home and location
Loved the charm of the older home. The biggest thing for us was the location to the town, we could walk anywhere we wanted. Perfict. Only issue was one person had to have a room with a curtin for a door. This ended up me as i gave my guests the nicer rooms. Nice having three full baths and we very much appreciated the Keurig machine for quick AM coffee! Look forward to returning next year.
A Great House for Large Families
We had an amazing time in Oray, and staying at this house was part of that experience. Three baths, plenty of sleeping space, two living areas, and a nice yard allowed room for all. Situated just a little off Main Street offered easy access to shopping. The owners thought of everything for the kitchen, baths, bedrooms, and family areas. The atmosphere of the house let us think we had stepped back in time. We hope it will be available next year when we are ready to reserve it. We loved it!
A relaxing, functional, beautiful house in incredible surroundings
This was a our second time visiting this house. Our experience this time was the same as last. It is a wonderful house with a combination of old charm and new technology that allowed us to chill in the house, get ready to explore the nature around us, and recover from our adventures. There were plenty of everything we needed to cook, clean, and have fun. The owners always communicate well and answer questions promptly. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to spend time in and around Ouray!!
Great house for large groups
Great house for multi-families visiting Ouray. They had pool towels for the ouray hot springs at the door. Dining room table was large enough to seat 10+ plus people and there was a second dining room table that could seat 4. The kitchen was large enough to cook in and there is a newer dishwasher that works great. There was also 2 living rooms with 2 large couches in each living room. The gas fireplace was a nice touch and there was a big screen TV in one living room. The extra 2 bathrooms on the main floor made morning showers easier for all our guests since the 4 bedrooms are upstairs with only 1 bathroom upstairs. The porch was large and there was enough chairs to accommodate everyone. The grill was also very nice and large enough for parties.
The only cons are: 1) one bedroom upstairs doesn't have a door, 2) the door doesn't latch for one of the bedrooms upstairs, 3) missing screens from the upstairs bedrooms where kids sleep, 4) no AC and it was really hot at night with no ceiling fans in the upstairs area, 5) blinds are falling apart in the main living room and kids can easily yank on them, and 6) cookware/frying pans were not nonstick and made cooking eggs and bacon really hard!
Jeep tours and trips, mountain climbing including several 14000 ft peaks, hiking, photography, exploring mining ghost towns, several hot spring pools in and near Ouray, ATV and Jeep rentals, rich in Colorado gold rush history
