About the property

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 5

Vintage turn of the century home located close to old town Seward and the Alaska SeaLife Center. Our home is nestled on the shores of Resurrection Bay at the head of the fjord that once bustled as a gateway to Alaska's interior gold country. Looking west to the mountains or south out the bay our cozy 2 bedroom home sits in a quiet area just off the original downtown, close to the harbor, walking trails along the coast, and access to Seward's famous Mt. Marathon.

About Peggy Hamner

We have lived in Alaska for 33 years. Nine years ago we moved from Anchorage to Seward to enjoy the slower paced life to raise our three children.

We have had two prior VRBOs that are now long term rentals. This summer we are offering our two bedroom Cozy Cottage for your summer vacation. We are here to make your Alaska vacation or your weekend get away the most relaxing and enjoyable. Let the memories begin!

Seward has beautiful tranquil scenery from every point of the compass. Looking south out Resurrection Bay to the outer islands, to the north along the mountain ridges with Mt. Marathon, to the east up Bear Mountain, and enjoying an early morning sunrise over Mt Alice, all of which can be seen from our cottage.

Peggy Hamner purchased this house in 2003

Why Peggy Hamner chose Kenai Peninsula

The home was built in the heady days of the gold rush and railroad construction and is a small two bedroom home with full kitchen, breakfast nook, dining room, living room, and bathroom on the main floor. It is walking distance to restaurants, shops, pubs, beautiful walking trails, the Alaska SeaLife Center, and of course the small boat harbor.

Sit back in the living room and take in the views, have coffee in the entry sun room or enjoy a barbeque on the back deck.

Loved it

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed Seward and this home. It reminded me of my Grandmother's home. Very quaint and inviting. The owners were very informative about what to do in the area and fishing was GREAT !. We were there July 4th for the Marathon, it was very fun. We walked all of Seward. Fished in creek behind McDonald park and caught our limit of Salmon. Stairs in the home are only challenging to carry luggage up, but otherwise this historic home so cool.

Being Floridians this was a very new experience for us.

Wonderful Stay in Seward!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in Seward at Peggy's lovely and charming home. The house is in a beautiful setting with a view of Resurrection Bay and close to town and restaurants. We strolled to the water for evening walks and ate at some of the restaurants- our favorite, The Cookery. We enjoyed the 6-1/2 hour Fjord cruise as well. So highly recommend Peggy's house!

Great host, great location, tricky stairs

  • 4 of 5

The host was great. The cottage is in a great location and was well stocked. Overall it was a great place and we had a great time.

However, we weren't prepared for the steep and narrow stairs with a half step making it hard to drag the luggage up and down as well as to us the restroom, which was on the lower level from the bedrooms, especially at night. It may just be the way the houses from this era are in that area but I wished I had thought to look into it more closely when travelling with older parents.

The day we stayed in and rested, we could hear construction noises from a renovation being done just down the street. That was too much of a problem because we were gone during the day for most days.

Great stay at a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

Peggy's rental seats in a quite location in Seward, just minutes away from all the goodies that the town offers. Three blocks and you are in the side of Resurrection Bay. We felt at home with all the amenities this rental offered. Peggy's SO offered us local help finding fresh fish in Seward. Peggy was always responsive whenever we needed help.

Charming and clean!

  • 5 of 5

Great location and view. The house was very charming and very very clean. We have stayed in a lot of VRBO units over the years and this was one of the cleanest.

Worth the price!
