About Larry Gorey

This is our family's home away from home. We have travelled all over the world and Michigan is still one of our very favorite places to spend time. We now live outside of Chicago but my wife grew up in Michigan, graduated high school from Grand Haven and went to Michigan State. Her dream was always to have a cottage in Michigan. We are thrilled to have this dream come true.

Larry Gorey purchased this house in 2013

Why Larry Gorey chose Grand Haven

We love being outdoors, biking, skiing(Downhill and cross country), and we love the beach. We love Grand Haven. This house offers us the opportunity to get outside and experience all of these things. You will find that this home is a very special place.

What makes this house unique

The home is situated on a unique piece of property. Nestled on over a half acre, the property sits below the road and is very private. Guests are greeted by a huge front yard complete with tree swing and large front porch-- a perfect spot for the first cup of coffee or spending a lazy afternoon. The backyard is huge, includes a built-in fire pit, and is bordered by a huge wooded dune. The backyard is very private. We have an outdoor shower which is perfect for getting the sand off before getting into our hot tub.

What a wonderful house!

  • 5 of 5

Larry was so accommodating with our last minute vacation plan change. My family and I had a great time this past week. The house was immaculate and so nice! The hot tub and fire pit were a great addition. Just a short walk to the beach and short drive to downtown Grand Haven. Definitely would stay there again.

The Brucker Beachhouse was the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow at the shores of Lake Michigan.

  • 5 of 5

The Brucker Beachhouse was the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow at the shores of Lake Michigan. Our family celebrated our family reunion with people coming from all over the country to be together., my sisters and I rented three homes in the area and we all gathered at the beach, in Grandhaven, at the special adventures around the community, Silverlake Sandune's, Rainbow Ranch for horseback riding. And lots more ! The Brucker Beach house was the most welcoming comfortable absolutely perfect home to be with my children and grandchildren for the special event. In the kitchen, a well-equipped and welcoming gathering spot, the cozy living room where the children played the guitar, the expansive Family room where we all met and talked about old times good times new times, the backyard barbecue and fire pit area and Jacuzzi, in the lower level with ping-pong and large screen TVs and the front lawn with it's beautiful trees and large swing.Oh what memories we've made at the Brucker Beach house! Thank you to the Gorey family for welcoming us to the beautiful beach home !

Great house, OK beach

  • 4 of 5

The house was clean and fit our needs really well. We had two families with a total of 5 kids under 5 including an infant, there was a crib available and the twin beds with trundles were perfect for the 4 older kids. There was plenty of room for everyone and it felt like a home away from home. The only minor downside was that we did not realize the beach that is within walking distance is not very big (about 20 yards wide) and while the state park beaches were a short car ride away, it would've been nice to have had a nicer beach within walking distance instead. Obviously the beach has nothing to do with the house, but when looking for a beach house, we were thinking we were getting a house that would not have required us to pack up the car to go to the beach.

Owner's Response: Rose it was great having you as a guest! The water levels in Lake Michigan are exceptionally high right now. Our family was there for the last two weeks and during that time the water line fluctuated about 15 feet in distance. However, there was always area for us to sit and enjoy the beach with our kids. The water level goes up and down all year long. I'm sorry that you were there when it was exceptionally high! I'm glad the house fit your needs.

Lovely Home

  • 5 of 5

This Western Michigan gem is the perfect place to spend a relaxing weekend. Tucked away at the end of a neighborhood block just a short stroll from lake Michigan, it feels like you're in secluded woods. You can spend all day in the back yard, grilling or hanging out in the hot tub, but the home itself is as relaxing as they come. Recommend a stay here!

Grand Haven is the perfect, small tourist town. With an amazing shoreline, a boardwalk that takes you from the downtown waterfront to the beaches of the State Park, and lots of great restaurants, bars, and ice cream shops, it a family friendly destination. Each night, the Musical Fountain entertains and a trolley is also available to take you around town. The area is also a perfect place from which to explore all the hottest local area breweries. From Founders in Grand Rapids to New Holland Brewery in Holland to Grand Haven's own Odd Side Ales. Plenty of blueberry picking too! A bike path takes you from Grand Haven to Holland beaches.

Long winter weekends are great at our house. We have two furnaces and one fireplace inside and one outside! Cross country skiing and sledding(Pigeon Creek) are a 15 minute drive. Downhill skiing at Mulligan's Hollow is a blast for kids and adults. We taught our kids to ski there through local instructors. They offer full equipment rental and parents ski for free with a paid child. The rate for a day lift ticket for a kids was $15. Ski rental was also $15. The ski hill is within 10 minutes of our house, located in downtown Grand Haven. They built a brand new ski lodge with food and an indoor and an outdoor fire place. Either drop the kids off for the day or join them on the slopes?

Unfortunately, our house and neighborhood isn't set up to host weddings.
