About Astrid Ashlynn Ohlberg
My husband, originally from California, and I, from Germany, fell in love with the Rocky Mountains. Even though we have traveled the world our preferred vacation spot became more and more the Colorado mountains and since we are planning to spend more time in Buena Vista decided to buy a house there in 2013. We like working on old houses to preserve their uniqueness, so we decided that this one being a jewel in the raw is definitely worth restoring to its original beauty. Now that the inside is complete, we now had the opportnity this summer to add a new deck, new windows and doors and my favorite: the sauna. Since this area has so much to offer in regards to winter, spring and summer sport activities we wanted to give our kids and grandkids the opportunity to enjoy many outdoor adventures by staying in our new home for an extended time to cut down on driving time from our main home.

Why Astrid Ashlynn Ohlberg chose Buena Vista
This home is an adorable brick home with a wood extension, close to downtown and has old-world charm. So many historical components are still in and around the house that caught our interest. It's been tastefully remodeled inside with wood floors & trim, 10 foot ceilings, unique bathroom, vintage stove and brick cutouts and a large mudroom for all our gear without dragging it throughout the house. Direct access from kitchen through French doors to deck with Wicker chairs. Although it's close to downtown the house is located on a quiet street away from the noise and directly on a bike route. The put-in site for our raft/kayak in just down the street. And our dog can stay either in the back or front of the fenced yard. My husband also likes that it is within walking distance to a fishing stream.
What makes this Cottage unique
We added an outdoor Infrared sauna, so you can enjoy the many health benefits. your body from a day of sport activities.

What a great property to just relax and enjoy your vacation. Everything was clean and very welcoming. It was very convenient to walk downtown to Buena Vista, or to access the Arkansas River. My wife and I are sure to visit again in the near future.
Thank you Paul for taking the time to write review. I appreciate your cleanliness during your stay. I hope you come back for a future vacation.
So many little details that made our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Would recommend to others and stay here again!
Travis, I enjoyed having you stay. You kept my place in great condition. Please come back when you can.
Beautiful, relaxing cottage in BV
This cottage is beautifully decorated. The back yard and deck are very relaxing. It is located one block from downtown BV making everything within walking distance.
Comfy Cottage in Buena Vista
This is our second time staying at the cottage. For us, it's perfect. It's easy walking distance to the historic downtown area with the restaurants and shops. It's also close enough to walk to the river for the Farmers Market and music entertainment. The location in Buena Vista is also great if you are looking for a home base to take advantage of the hiking in the area.
The cottage is super clean and very comfortable. We definitely took advantage of the kitchen to make some of our meals. The cottage also has a washer and dryer which comes in handy when you are staying for a few days or longer. Astrid is also a wonderful host!
We had a wonderful time at Astrid’s cottage! It was very relaxing and convenient to everything in CB
The property was fully stocked with everything a guest would need. The back patio was a perfectly relaxing area with beautiful birds and comfortable furniture. The cottage is a block from Main Street, which made it close to eating establishments and shopping. It was also just several blocks from the Arkansas River and a dog park, skate park and children’s playground. We loved CB and this special home. We hope to return next summer.
I am glad you liked your stay. You were wonderful guest leaving my place in great condition. Couldn't even tell that you had a doggie. Please come back again.
The two of us and our dog had a wonderful stay in this well maintained, well equipped house. In addition to the comfortable interior, the property benefits from a nice outdoor deck with a sun shade, which we used daily, and the convenience of being just a block or two from restaurants and stores. We plan on returning.
Brown's Canyon on the Arkansas River is the most rafted river in the country. Professional kayakers call Buena Vista their home. Presently this area is in the process to become the next National Monument! Many rafting companies provide full-day and half-day tours for the whole family. As you float down the river you will notice the beautiful scenery with the bluest skies in the whole world, dry climate, no mosquitos that bug you and the climate stays fair. This area has the nick-name 'Banana Belt' because of the mild temperatures even the altitude is 8000 feet high. There are extensive bike trails with nearly-flat terrain and also mountain trails for the experience biker. You can rent the new 'Fat Tire' bikes just a block from the house. Or rent a Jeep and explore the mountain range with it's many fishing lakes and view sizeable deer and elk herds, mountain goats, bighorn sheep and antelopes. Take a drive over Independence Pass to Aspen with awesome views or go north to the ski town Vail. Breckenridge is another ski-town located northeast of Buena Vista. Those who like to take it easy can go on a stroll through downtown and visit the art, antique and consignment stores. You'll discover great finds for a surprising affordable prices. After a long day of rafting or skiing relax in one of the natural Hot Spring resorts, Mt. Princeton Resort or Cottonwood. There are also golf courses of course. Check out the one in Buena Vista in the foothills of Cottonwood pass or for those who would like to golf on the highest altitude golf course in the USA (10,000'), travel to Leadville, just a 30 minute drive north to Mount Massive golf course.
