Awesome location, large rooms, great supplies

  • 5 of 5

Location was a great neighborhood for walking and getting around.

Very spacious home for San Diego area. Absolutely LOVED the front porch!!

Christian was a super great host - replied to questions quickly and offered assistance as needed.

Very warm during our visit and fans were provided that helped cool the house off in the evenings.

Loads of towels, bedding, beach towels, cooler, fully stocked kitchen, and several types of staples available for use!! Washer/dryer also a plus!

House has 6 beds - just need to keep in mind that there are only 2 baths (and one is in the back of the master bedroom) so sharing the 'main bath' amongst most of the guests needs to be anticipated.

Thanks for a great place for our family to stay!!

Clean & comfortable stay in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at this home with 2 friends during a recent trip to San Diego and couldn't have asked for a better location. We enjoyed the plentiful breweries and restaurants within walking distance, as well as the beautiful park just a few blocks away. Thorn Street Brewery was a favorite for our group as well as Caffee Calabria for coffee and breakfast. The neighborhood is very clean, safe and quiet. Perfect for morning walks. The home itself is comfortable with all of the amenities we needed (and more). The layout is excellent with an open floor plan in the kitchen/dining and living rooms. We also liked the flow from the kitchen to the side deck. This would be a great choice for large families who want to sprawl out and feel like they're at home while on vacation. Christian was a very pleasant and accommodating host. Upon our arrival, he met with us for a brief orientation and gave us a bunch of great recommendations. It is obvious that Christian takes pride in his home and cares about his guests' experience. He has put a lot of time and planning into this home to make it a great place to stay. I would not hesitate to recommend this home to any of my friends and family and I look forward to staying here again in the future.

The house was clean, cute and just as the description said it would be.

  • 5 of 5

We loved the house. It was perfect for us. We are a family of five (3 children), 2 grandparents and an aunt! The house was clean! Everything we needed to cook, eat, BBQ, and hangout was provided. There were beach towels and some games.

The location is ideal. We were able to walk to Balboa park to play in the park. Almost everything we wanted to do was 15-20 min away by car. So easy to get to things. We walked to nearby restaurants that were excellent! Groceries and drug store 5 min away. So easy.

Christian is a lovely host and stopped by to meet us and give us tips and answer questions. He made himself available if we needed anything. We didn't really because the house had everything we needed! Can't recommend this house high enough. Lovely.

Fantastic Craftsman Style House in Centrally Located North Park

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of 6 and our four children range in age from 12 to 17 years. This house was perfect for our family and the owner was extremely accommodating and helpful. The neighborhood is darling and we were within close driving distance to Coronado Island (where we brunched at the Hotel del Coronado, relaxed on the beach, and rented wave runners). We also spent a day in the Gaslamp Quarter, visited Old Town that same evening (took the Ghost tour), and spent a day at the zoo (located right next to North Park in Balboa Park). Lots of wonderful restaurants close by as well. The kids loved the upstairs space ... plenty of room to spread out and watch movies on their own TV. When we cooked at home, we ate out on the deck and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Christian, the owner, was fantastic and walked us through the property, answered all of our questions, and made our stay enjoyable. You can't beat this home, this price, and this location. We would definitely stay here again if we plan another family trip to San Diego.

Great house in a good neighborhood and VERY close to zoo and museums!! (but no review)

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of 4 that also brought along 2 grandparents for a vacation in San Diego. It was a perfect fit for us because the adults had their separate rooms (2 adults per room) and the kids slept upstairs. My kiddos LOVED having their own space with a little refrigerator and their own TV. The stairs are quite steep...while not a problem for us or our kids, keep this in mind for those who might plan to use the upstairs for someone who might have issues with regular stairs. As mentioned in the title of my review, this house has no air conditioning (AC). While we had great weather while there, we would have to air out the house every time we came back in the evening by opening windows. The central fan system was not working when we were there. That being said, Christian (the owner) provided some great floor fans for us to use. With the ceiling fans, floor fans , and open windows, we were fine. None of us were really bothered by having no air conditioning except for my husband because he can have bad allergy flair ups (which he did while we were there). Just keep this in mind so your expectations are set. If you have allergy issues and need a house with central AC and can't tolerate open windows, this is not the place for you...but I'm sure most folks wouldn't have a problem like the rest of my family that had no issues.

We adored the location of the house. It was in a good neighborhood and extremely close to the zoo and Balboa Park (which has tons of museums). Also super close to airport and other attractions like Sea World and the USS Midway museum. You really can't get a better location if you are going to San Diego to visit a bunch of these attractions like we were. We got a Go San Diego Card and did a lot of things we normally wouldn't do and almost everything is nearby.

I would whole-heartedly recommend this house as long as you know about the steep stairs and no AC (it is a 100yr old house, I believe). If you are good with that, then don't hesitate - Good price, great location, everything provided (dishes, laundry on-site, etc), grocery store nearby...

Fabtastic Charming House

  • 5 of 5

Our host was amazing, giving us a thorough tour and Mali g us feel welcome. The house exudes charm, and the house was just so well decorated and designed. Just loved it. It was "stocked" extremely well, including all we needed to do laundry, dishes, etc. while we stayed. Can't recommend this house and our host Christian Michaels enough! We also can't wait to come back.

Fun and funky North Park started coming into its own early in the new millennium. When a check-cashing store changed over to a dessert restaurant, local residents knew something was happening. New restaurants are still opening, and the neighborhood has become home to hipsters from all walks of life. The New York Times had articles about our burgeoning neighborhood in 2009 and 2012.
