This is a slice of heaven and I have many guests that keep returning to enjoy the magic. Maybe you should be one of them!

Looking for tranquility? A private beachfront paradise? Incredible natural beauty? Located North of Marsh Harbour, Abaco Bahamas, this three bedroom, three bathroom, two kitchen/livingroom home (upstairs is one bed/one bath kitchen/living and downstairs two bed/two bath kitchen/living) offers spacious accommodations on a white sugar sand beach, complete with coral reef right out the front door. At the reef are turtles, lobster, colorful fish and an eel named 'Charlie'. It's all right at your doorway! Bedrooms and living rooms all overlook the spectacular turquoise blue Abaco Sea. Did we mention skinny dipping as an option?

Like fishing? Snorkeling? Sailing? Kayaking? We have a kayak, bicycles, a paddleboard and a Sunfish for your use complimentary! Have a boat? Only a three minute boatride to Treasure Cay! Marsh Harbour is 15 minutes by boat or 20 minutes by car. At the house we have provided for our guests - snorkel equipment, kayak, bicycles, a paddleboard, fishing poles, and a Sunfish. There are many quaint towns with excellent restaurants and fun shopping to visit, especially in the outer islands, that are only a ferry boatride away.

Sleeps six privately with two additional sleeper sofas. Take time to call for 'Discounted Specials.' (For privacy I only rent to one group at a time). With privacy, tranquility, great accommodations, and fun activities, this is a great place worth experiencing!! Don't let it slip through your hands like the sand. Nutty Mermaid in the summer

  • 5 of 5

My family, myself, and friends had a great time at the Nutty Mermaid. We have been all over the Bahamas, and I do mean all over. We were a mix of tech divers, reef divers, beachcomers, snorklers, and boaters, and Nutty Mermaid had it all for us. Make no mistake, you will need a car, but those are easily arranged in the city.

A perfect blend of privacy, with access to a "major" city, we really enjoyed the nite sky unpolluted by city lights, no noise, and a world class private beach. I'm not even a beach-goer, but this sandy beach in the back yard is unbeatable for small kids and adults alike. This is on the clear, brilliant, Sea of Abaco; the largest waves we had in our week were maybe 3 inches!

The minor downsides are a few horseflys, and you will need to drive to a restaurant; no real public transportation out there. The use of some minutes on a local cellphone was an unexpected bonus. Highly recommended, and I hope to return.

Sublime

  • 5 of 5

We've rented vacation homes in the Bahamas multiple times and this was by far the best experience we had. Michelle is incredibly responsive and helpful and that set the tone for the whole experience. The beach and water is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the sun and sand. It was the best beach I've been to for my 4 year old. She could play in the water while I sat on the beach, because the water was so calm, clear, and shallow near the shore that I had no worries. But a short distance away, you'll find some awesome snorkeling and the little islands near the property were fun to swim or kayak to. It made it feel like an adventure. We had a great time looking for seashells and even found a few sand dollars. The house is equipped with everything you need to enjoy both the beach and the water.

The house was also perfect for our group. It's rare to find bedroooms with all King size beds and they were comfortable -- another rarity! The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you might need. One small issue we had in the house was immediately remedied by the caretaker, who was there in minutes, despite the raging rainstorm we were experiencing.

We spent more time at the house than anywhere else. But it was nice to have Treasure Cay right up the street. We spent some time at Coco's and their amazing beach. The best beach we found as far as sheer beauty and nice waves was on Guana Cay, just a short ferry ride from Marsh Harbor. It's in front of Nipper's, which was a fun place, but a bit crowded for us (because were were there on New Year's Eve). We also spent a little time at Snappas and elsewhere in Marsh Harbor. Every place we visited had a very friendly atmosphere and we even spotted a few celebrities.

We can't wait to visit the Nutty Mermaid again!

Great beach house. Perfect

  • 5 of 5

We found the Nutty Mermaid in our search for a Honeymoon destination it was more than we expected. First, the house is clean and well supplied/equipped. Beach was beautiful, even more so than depicted on website pictures. Snorkeling, fishing, kayaking (yes, they come with the house), and relaxation. Beach walking, shells, and more green sea turtles than I would have believed. Short drive to restaurants and shopping... Leisure Lee was quiet and very private. Overall, could not have been a better experience.... Winner!!!!!!

About Michelle Bahr

Love the beauty of nature and love this beach! I work hard and play hard but in the end want a peaceful, private beach to relax.

Why Michelle Bahr chose Turtle Rocks

Been coming here since the early 1980's and the waters have this amazing turquois that change with the sunlight that is so magical. The place brings peace in my heart. Abaco is a family island with almost zero crime , I like safe and peaceful.

What makes this house unique

Beach, kayak, beach, sailing, beach, fishing, beach, hammock under the stars.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Michlelle,

It's crazy great. The pictures DO NOT do it justice at all. We were floored rolling out the back door onto that fantastic beach. We haven't left it since we unpacked the car.

Dwight and Diana have been awesome. Dwight hooked me up with a hawaiian sling for the lobsters and that thing is downright lethal. I got 1 with a tickle stick and net in about an hour of chasing them around, at which point Dwight came down the beach and offered the sling. I got 2 more good sized lobster in no time and easily could have had more. I saw one that was easily the largest I've ever seen and I've lobstered many times in the Florida Keys. I swear it looked as big as a small dog. HUGE. He was lucky, as I already had more than enough for the two of us, so he was spared, although if he doesn't move on he may not be so lucky tomorrow. Needless to say we had lobster for dinner.

Dwight also seems to like fishing more than a little and might head out with us to show us the ropes out on the water, which would be awesome for these two newbies to the area.

I'll try your suggestion on the plankton tomorrow. I was out wandering a bit this evening, but didn't know about that, so I'll give that a whirl tomorrow.

Cheers,

Mike

Privacy, peace, and tranquility on a private beach is what I love! Fishing, snorkeling, beach combing, sailing, enjoying the stars while swaying on the hammock, swimming, or basking in the warm Caribbean sun are at your front door. Just a short drive or boat ride away all restaurants, shops, and live music are at your demand. It's paradise just waiting to be enjoyed! Life is good!!
