West Yellowstone Lodge Rental Photos and Description

Lodge, 7 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms On 5 Acre Homestead With Private Pond, Sleeps 15

Summer or winter, this rustic retreat is perfect for some Montana mountain play time. It's one you'll fall in love with and won't want to leave!

More summer photos coming soon! It's beautiful, summer or winter!

Grandpa's Cabin is one of two original family homesteads we offer in this very special location, easily one of the most unique in the U.S. Its five acres are situated on a family homestead and the property is bordered by Duck Creek pond, which offer some of the best blue ribbon trout fishing in the West.

The property is less than 1/8 mile from Yellowstone National Park on its west side, and offers easy access across the street to backcountry trails in both Yellowstone Park and Gallatin National Forest.

This home offers breathtaking views of nature at its finest, and with huge picture windows offering views across Duck Creek pond to the western mountains of Yellowstone National Park.

Wildlife Viewing: Duck Creek Retreat and the immediate surrounding area is rich in wildlife, including bison, elk, deer, moose, grizzly bear, black bear, otter, beaver, muskrat, Canadian geese, ducks, Trumpeter swan and Sandhill cranes.

Fishing: World class fishing is available on private Duck Creek and Duck Creek Pond. A professionally installed fish ladder permits runs of wild Brown and Rainbow trout from the Madison River and nearby Hebgen Lake. Native Brook trout also inhabit the pond and Brown trout up to 32 inches have been caught and released. A Montana fishing license is not required to fish on the Pond, but it is on other Montana waters. A Yellowstone Park license is required to fish inside the Park.

The west entrance to Yellowstone Park and the town of West Yellowstone are only a short 8.5 mile (14km) drive away, W. Yellowstone offers everything you'd hope to find in a destination resort town, from restaurants, live theater, museums and shopping to equipment rentals and guide services.

We can offer recommendations on a variety of local guides and outfitters - call us to find out more!

great stay

  • 5 of 5

A little ramshackle, a little dated, but a great value and plenty of room for big groups. We really appreciated the well-stocked kitchen. From the living room windows we saw trumpeter swans, foxes, coyotes, and a family of otters playing in the pond.

An enjoyable stay

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was clean, it had everything we needed for our long weekend there. People were comfortable and the view was amazing. The appliances all worked as expected, and while the wifi was spotty out in the kitchen and social area, it was very strong and reliable in the back of the cabin near the pool table. I'd recommend this place to any large group wanting a comfortable stay in between venturing into Yellowstone.

Nice place for group or family re-union

  • 5 of 5

We are 5 small families with kids. Grandpa's cabin is the perfect place to fit all of us. The kids liked the loft so much and we all have our own rooms.

The view from the kitchen and family room is very nice especially in the morning when the sun rise. The backyard connects to the Creek, we enjoyed the canoeing although we didn't catch any fish due to time limit.

We stayed there 4 nights when we visited Yellowstone national park. The distance is acceptable around 12 minutes.

The cabin was well stocked with cooking staffs and the laudrary with detergent as well.

It is really conveniet for travelers.

The entire house is clean except the sofas in the living room seem worn out.

The agent was responsible, provided all the info and returned the call quickly.

Thank you for everything which made our vacation a big fun.

The location to Yellowstone was fabulous. Close enough to West Yellowstone too. Beautiful setting.

  • 3 of 5

There were a few minor issues like the bear-proof dumpster being really full and the sliding glass door with a broken lock, but that was able to be remedied. We couldn't find life vests for the canoe (major reason for booking)so the grand kids couldn't get out on the lake to fish. There really isn't good shore fishing, only off a small dock, so only one or two could fish at a time. There was a fire ban for the first night but the fire pit later wss awesome! The rooms were small but comfortable and overall it's a really fun place to stay.

40 th Anniversary

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I celebrated our 40th anniversary with our children and grandkids spending a week visiting Yellowstone and we stayed here. We enjoyed the property and the solitude it offered. The minor issues were quickly resolved by the manager. The grandkids enjoyed exploring the pond on the canoe and our son caught several large trout.

Our kids surprised us by hiring a photographer for family portraits on Sunday. We found several backgrounds for the pictures that worked great. This is a great house for a family get-together and we have made memories that will last forever.

Beautiful cabin with plenty of room for everyone!!!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our time in this cabin. Everything was just as described. The views were amazing and it was close enough to make going to Yellowstone a breeze. The maintenance man responded quickly to fix a small problem with the heat in one bedroom when we called. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect weekend!!!
