The two-bedroom, one bath, ‘Deer Haven Cottage’ is a darling, ranch style house built in the early 1940’s. It has been completely renovated top to bottom and ‘modernized’ for today’s lifestyle in 2013. It is perfect for a small family, individuals traveling together or business traveler who desires more space and the conveniences of 'home'. The cottage is tastefully decorated with ‘urban’ sophistication, mixed with a little country/western and a few antiques.

It has a spacious, fully equipped, dine-in kitchen complete with all new appliances. The full bathroom is completely updated with all new fixtures. All new windows, lighting and flooring throughout the cottage completes the fresh new interior. The cottage also has a washer and dryer.

After an exciting day of adventure seeking and recreation, the living room is a great place to relax in front of the 32” HD flat screen TV. There is also a DVD player for watching your favorite movies. Wi-Fi is provided to keep up with your email or business. The leather sofa and arm chair in the living room provides seating for 4 guests. Between the living room and kitchen is a beverage bar that you can ‘belly up’ to, complete with 2 bar stools.

The master bedroom has a king size bed, night tables with lamps on each side, a dresser and a closet. It has large windows making it bright and airy, but shades and drapes to darken it if you want to sleep in. The second bedroom has a double bed, a dresser with mirror and a large recessed area for storage and hanging clothes. Both bedrooms have alarm clocks with USB ports for electronic devices.

Outside is a nicely landscaped, fenced yard with lawn furniture, a fire pit for roasting marshmallows, charcoal grill and a picnic table. It’s a great space for you and the kids to unwind at the end of an adventure packed day and enjoy some freshly caught trout or sizzling local beef steaks hot off the grill. Just as the name implies, you can definitely expect a few deer to meander in for a visit at sundown.

About The Owner

Moose Alley Lodging opened for business in August 2001.

It all began with the idea to build a studio apartment behind our residence for our children just in case they ever decided to 'move back home'. Extended family and friends came to vacation in our beautiful town and of course, we welcomed them to stay in our wonderful, little apartment. Everyone raved about how much they enjoyed their stay in our cozy, 'moosey' home away from home...so we decided to offer Moose Alley to other travelers as well. We have made many new friends along the way and hope to make many more in the future.

It is now 2017 and a lot has happened in the 16 years that we have been in the vacation rental business. We are 16 years older and hopefully "wiser". Two sons-in-law, a daughter-in-law and 9 grandchildren have been added to our family along with much joy to our lives.

We have added and renovated 3 more properties since the spring of 2012. We are always thinking of new ways to upgrade and improve our vintage 1936 three- bedroom bungalow, an early 1940’s two-bedroom, ranch style cottage and a darling, early 1900’s one-bedroom cottage.

It has truly been a labor of love, because it’s exhausting work and at times we were asking ourselves “what have we gotten ourselves into?” We have weathered the stress of the initial major renovation and now we can stand back and admire the accomplishment. We even received the ‘Pride Award’ from the City of Cody for our beautification of these properties. We have really enjoyed renovating these three vintage houses to make them beautiful and comfortable “homes” for our guests...and mentioning our guests, the best part of this business is the hundreds of wonderful people we have met from all over the world. We enjoy sharing information and doing what we can to help make our guests trip to Cody, Wyoming, Yellowstone and surrounding areas an enjoyable and exciting experience that they will cherish and have fond memories of for many years to come.

Why The Owner chose Cody

This property had been vacant for many years and everyday we would drive by and hope that someday soon, the neglected little house would have an owner that would love it and bring it back to life. In 2012, we were given that very opportunity by a chance meeting and we were thrilled to be the proud owners of this little ranch style cottage with an interesting history.

What makes this cottage unique

Minutes outside Cody, there are miles and miles of scenic grandeur as far as you can see. Wild mustangs and antelope still roam free across the prairie. Moose, bear, bison, wolves, mountain lions, Big Horn sheep, mountain goats, just to name a few, are visible in the forests, marsh and on the majestic mountain tops. Native Trout and other fish species are abundant in the pristine waters of rivers, lakes and streams that are so much a part of this vast, incredibly beautiful landscape that is Wyoming.

Fifty-three miles to the west of Cody is the world’s first national park, Yellowstone. Established in 1872, no place on earth compares to the splendor and mystery of this natural bounty with parts still waiting to be discovered. The awe and wonder of Yellowstone attracted early explorers and now modern day explorers, scientists, nature seekers, as well as inspiring writers, artists and photographers from all over the globe. Every direction you choose to travel from Cody is pure delight. There is discovery and a feast for the eyes around every turn and down every stretch of road. When you decide to visit and experience the traditions of the old west and see with your own eyes what drew settlers here from long distances, you will not leave here the same. The memories of this unforgettable place will stay with you forever and you will yearn to return someday.

Perfect location

The location was great and close to downtown. The two bedrooms were perfect for our family of three. The living room is a bit tight, but it worked for our short stay. The house is located on a busy street (the bedrooms face the street) and even at night there was a lot of road noise. I played a white noise app at night, which helped. Would recommend and stay again if the opportunity arises.

Good place to stay, beats a hotel room by a mile!

We stayed here for a week and it was just what we wanted. There is plenty of off street parking. It has a nice kitchen that is well equipped. We sat out in the back yard almost every evening. The washer and dryer were a bonus. We only used the master bedroom and the bed was big & comfortable.

It is located on a busy street but traffic is almost non-existent overnight. We ran the window air conditioner fan to mask any street noise.

The location is great for seeing Cody. There are restaurants, a brew pub, and a Walgreens within easy walking distance.

We even saw a doe and two fawns feeding in the alley behind the house.

Great place for a stay in Cody

The house was immaculately clean,comfortable and had everything we needed. The location was perfect.Close to downtown shops and restaurants. There is quite some traffic on the street in front but it was very quiet inside,so it didn't bother us.

Great place and wonderful location

Unfortunately I won't be up in that part of the world again for a long time, but it was a great place. Perfect location, walking distance from bars and restaurants. Easy in and out to Yellowstone. Place was really clean. Highly recommend this house.
