Awesome vacation

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was very nice, clean and perfect for the two of us . The owners took the time to check on us while we were there, which was nice. We had everything that we needed. The surrounding area has a lot to keep you busy. In fact, we plan to go back because we ran out of time. We visited several waterfalls, hiked some trails in Pictured Rocks Park, rode our ATV (because the trails are close), and ate at the local establishments. I highly recommend the Riptide Ride in Munising and a visit to Lakenenland Sculpture Park which is between Au Train and Marquette on 28. Overall, it was a very relaxing vacation. My husband says the bloody Mary's at the Christmas casino are marvelous.

Great little cabin, very sad to leave

  • 5 of 5

This is a very clean, comfortable, and cute little cabin in the woods (though about 200 or so feet off a main road, which in the UP gets about as much traffic as a typical subdivision street, just faster traffic).

Lake Superior is just a mile or so away, bed is comfortable, everything is as advertised and lots of thoughtful touches, the DVD-VCR device was broken so the DVDs we rented went to waste, but we were actually glad because we read instead.

Love the wood furniture, the screened in porch, the firepit, the fireplace--not that we used it, but it got cold and we kind of thought about it (but the tools and grate, etc aren't there, probably for the summer?).

The layout is great, close to lots of sights, just all together a very nice place to stay and it is on our list for future trips, would highly recommend and possibly will stay there again if it fits with our plans.

My "big" complaint?: 10am checkout sucks! I loved the place, didn't want to leave, had to pack up and clean up dishes the night before, "sad", 11 or noon with a later check-in makes more sense (most people are driving hours to the place after all--who is getting there ate 3?--or different time for weekend and weekday). I really, really enjoyed the porch, would've liked to have had another few hours of reading in the morning (also, more comfortable furniture out there wouldn't be a bad idea).

PS, some folks might be alarmed by the hunting decorations, this is the UP (perhaps native) hunting culture, but this is not exactly vegan friendly.

Wonderful cabin for a much needed family vacation

  • 5 of 5

This was a great cabin, had everything we needed and was so close to Au Train lake and all the beaches on Lake Superior. My kids loved playing in the sand and visiting all the waterfalls in the area. We went to Munising quite a bit and ate at Pictured Rocks Pizza and Bay Furnance Bagels. Both very good! My kids loved the confetti bagel! We played mini golf at Miners Falls Mini golf and took the Pictured Rocks cruise. We also weren't too far away from Marquette which was nice since it rained one morning so we took the kids to the U.P. children's museum. My husband enjoyed the local breweries in the area - East Channel in Munising and Ore Dock in Marquette. Definitely a vacation to remember!

College friends of 45 years

  • 4 of 5

Three of us gathered in this cozy space in a tucked away, private setting. Our only recommendations are to get more lamps for reading, maybe an outdoor faucet for keeping sand out, and a knife sharpener. We enjoyed our stay very much. This place is not fancy, but very usable and the dog was so happy here. Nice to be close to the river, and the Superior shore. The owners were very accommodating and friendly.

Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was so welcoming and quaint. The grounds were so beautiful. I loved the quietness of the cabin. We had a true "up north" experience. We loved being so close to the beach and rode our bikes there every day. Pictured rocks and many waterfalls are nearby. We felt so in touch with nature. We spent an entire day at the beach with our boys and then came home to bbq and a fire. There are places to hook a portable hammock and I was so happy I brought mine! The following day we saw 8 waterfalls and did the riptide boat ride, which was a blast for the whole family! During our stay we saw two eagles, a white tailed deer, multiple butterflies and dragon flies on the property and many fish. Horseshoe falls is great for kids and it had a scavenger hunt along with a pond to feed the fish. What a great trip and stay!
