Beautiful house, great location

The house is very comfortable & relaxing being steps away from the beach. Matt was very helpful when I had a few questions about the house. Highly recommended!

Fantastic Beach House in Encinitas

  • 5 of 5

This house is on the Grandview surf break. There are steps down to the beach. Take 10 more steps, and you are in the ocean! It has an amazing view and all the amenities you need for a perfect vacation. The house is close to many restaurants and activities. I strongly recommend this place.

Amazing Encinitas Beach House

  • 5 of 5

This is a fantastic house for a family/group get together - it is spacious and is equipped with everything you could possibly need to enjoy your time there. Boogie boards, surf boards, bikes, beach toys. The beach is beautiful and not too crowded. Would definitely rent again!

very solid spot

  • 4 of 5

my overall feeling of this spot is that it is very solid. Was it perfect? no but with the location the house can play a second fiddle to steps down to a really beautiful beach with a nice peeling wave.

5 star vacation...

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the beachfront cottage in Leucadia. The location of the cottage is very convenient to 101/North Coast Highway and several restaurants, markets, parks in Leucadia. On several occasions we walked to the Leucadia Oaks park in the morning for the kids to play before the coastal fog burned off. Additionally, we enjoyed walking to get lunch at Haggo's Organic Taco, which had amazing fish tacos, and the Just Peachy Market for groceries. Downtown Encinitas was just a short drive away with a number of excellent restaurants and coffee shops and Whole Foods Market all of which had relatively easy parking access. Being on Neptune Avenue was also great, which outside of the parking lot at Grandview on good surf days was not overly busy with traffic and was a great walking/running route.

The house is very nicely finished and furnished and the floor layout and beds make for significantly more room than the square footage might otherwise suggest. We hosted local friends (with children) for portions of our stay and never felt cramped. The linens, towels, and soft goods were all tasteful and very comfortable and included in the rental was access to anything you might need to enjoy the area and the beach. We used the grill, surf boards, bikes, balls, beach toys, felt very similar to being at home.

The deck and beach access were amazing. Particularly when friends and children were visiting, we used the table on the deck for all meals and the sunsets in the evening were glorious. We also spent a lot of time on the deck after dark as the seating area and outdoor lighting made it very comfortable at night.

Finally, our experience with the owner was great. He was both responsive and reasonable in all of our dealings. We had an issue with the water running continually after the toilet was flushed in one of the bathrooms and we called the owner. Again, it felt like being at home as the plumber came over to fix the toilet with no inconvenience on us in anyway.

Overall, we had a great experience at the cottage and would gladly vacation there again.

Great beach house - highly recommended.

  • 4 of 5

This is a fantastic property that has been updated in a stylish and attractive manner - just as great, if not better, than it looks in the photos. The location is pretty much unbeatable (with one minor caveat), and the house is oriented in a way to maximize the beach views. Also, the house is incredibly well-appointed - tons of beach gear for guest use, lots of towels, high-end linens on the beds, and a well-stocked kitchen. The owner is also helpful and attentive. Really could not recommend this more highly for a beach rental in this area.

A couple very minor points keep this from being five stars - (1) One minor downside of this location is that the nearby public beach access and parking lot attract quite a crowd. Backing out of the garage during high-traffic beach hours can be a minor adventure, and the one bedroom that backs to the street can get a little noisy with the windows open (but this quiets considerably once the parking lot closes at 10:00). (2) A small downside of the incredible, awe-inspiring ocean views from the home's huge glass doors/windows on the beach side is that the sun streaming in can make it really hot. Keeping the windows and sliding doors open, and the triangle sun-shade up, help a lot, and the owner has a bunch of fans on-hand to keep things cool. But some curtains on the back half of the house might help keep it a little more comfortable, especially if you need to lock up the house when you're away. (3) We had a little trouble using the DVD player - though who really needs to watch TV when you're this close to the beach?

We had a terrific stay at this property and would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a mellow beach vacation. We hope to be back soon.
