Rustic Cottage With A Flair For Comfort And Convenience
Love the cottage, peace, oh my gosh! Where do i start?
These are recent comments about this little jewel of a cabin. It just looks old outside but just wait and see the inside! It's all new. Warm, rustic, natural wood with the scenic Nantahala mountains surrounding the area, old-time farms of cattle and corn fields greet the traveler with scenes of yesteryear.
Deer cross the immediate area and show their white tails waving in the wind. Wild turkeys are are a common sight.
The property is mostly on level terrain and has easy access to the main road. Accessible in winter snow season or summer sunshine. Colorful flora decorate the landscape in all seasons. There are three large lakes for fishing and water sports within reasonable
Distances. Trout streams and the little Tennessee river beacon the angler to try his or her expertise to outsmart these mountain trout and bass.
This is a beautiful year-round retreat and invites you to
Enjoy life to the fullest.
Many waterfalls, gem mining, bicycling (designated on the road in front of our property). Canoeing, rafting and tubing are just a few minutes away.
Numerous antique auctions and displays are here for your enjoyment.
We would love to have you as our guest soon.

About Gene or Diane
We enjoy the beautiful mountains and valleys. The local people are beautiful and friendly. Our retirement from the professions of pharmacy and optician blends well in this beautiful setting.
Gene or Diane purchased this Cottage in 2006
Why Gene or Diane chose Cowee
The Iotla Valley (Peaceful Valley in the Cherokee language} is nestled in the heart of the original Cherokee Indian homeland, in the Blue Ridge, Smoky Mountain geographical area. Many Indian mounds and traces of the original inhabitants of this area are still very visible. This cottage, along with two other desirable dwellings is situated in the Western part of this beautiful valley only 5.8 miles Northwest of the award winning small city of Franklin. The approach is beautiful with rolling hills surrounded by scenic beauty. A small creek runs through it. Come and enjoy this beautiful paradise with us and get relaxed from your everyday live of stress and confusion.
What makes this Cottage unique

Amazing!!!!! I will definitely revisit!!!!!
There's so many things to say about my stay. First and foremost the owners were so welcoming and kind. I immediately felt right at home!
The cabin was perfect for a nice quiet getaway...I'd stay a week if I could. It's very clean and cozy. I slept like a baby in a comfy bed accompanied by the subtle noises of the country side. The cabin comes equipped with all you need. There's a mini fridge and hot plate for cooking...this suited me fine as I only brought items for the microwave and sandwiches. There's also other appliances such as; a coffee pot, toaster, crock pot...etc. I spent a lot of time on the porch and in the backyard. There's a creek running along the backside of the property that's nice and cool. There's also a picnic table and hammock out back as well. My initial plan was to explore the area a little and relax, but I found myself perfectly content to stay at the Feathered Nest. I did take my bicycle out for a spin. The road right in front of the property is a great route, but be careful because they're no shoulders and the locals drive a bit fast. I went on a Sunday so the traffic was minimum. It's a beautiful ride!
I simply can't say enough about this place. If you're looking for a quiet escape that feels like home. This is the place to be! I'd move here if I could!!!!!!!!
Looking for an impromptu weekend getaway; I found the Feathered Nest Cottage, part of a four-cottage collection that makes up the Orchard Hill Cottages. Nestled on the side of a hill in the peaceful Iotla Valley, this little cottage has it all; location, isolation, peace, quiet, and scenic beauty. Rustic looking with natural wood this small cabin blends right into the surroundings, like something out of a period movie set; it’s not hard to imagine elements of vast Civil War armies marching along these backroads. Artists, photographers, and writers have stayed here—and it’s easy to see how these idyllic settings can inspire creativity.
The cabin is small and ideal for two people with a dog. It was beautifully decorated with many antiques, and although this cabin didn’t have a full kitchen, the owners provided a fridge-freezer, knives and forks, plates, a microwave oven, and coffee making facilities. The bathroom was cozy and easy to navigate, with piping hot water, good shower pressure, crisp clean towels, and a selection of shampoos and soaps. A television is provided (Dish Network) for those who feel compelled to come to this beautiful rural setting and watch reruns of ‘The Beverly Hillbillies’. The cabin is also serviced with high-speed Internet. Parking was allocated specifically for the cottage, and the grounds sloped down to a communal outdoor fire and barbecue area, placed on the banks of the Iotla Branch Creek, which once discovered, I couldn’t keep my 3-year-old chocolate Labrador out of. The owners, Gene and Diane, are incredibly nice people. They will not only do what they can to make you feel at home, and welcome; but will help, if needed, to make your stay a memorable one.
it was warm and clean, easy jumping off point into the Mountains

Cold weekend ❄️❄️
We enjoyed out time in this cabin ,very clean and cute!!!!
Perfect for us!
We really enjoyed our stay. The little cabin was perfect for the 2 of us and our furry babies. The décor is very cute and the cabin was clean. We were thankful to have a little getaway from the holiday chaos. The first night I forgot my shampoo/soap at the place we stayed the previous night- so it would have been nice if there were some complimentary items (shampoo/soap) available to use. But that wasn't a big deal- we typically travel our own toiletries and I understand it can be a waste to provide for everyone who comes to visit. I did not get to meet the owners of the cabin- but my fiancé met Diane and he said she was very friendly and personable. We were very thankful to find such a charming little place that allowed us to bring our furry children without breaking the bank. We now have a place to rent when we come to visit the family.
Cozy, charming and relaxing!
This was the perfect surprise weekend getaway for me and my husband. We loved the area. We found TONS to do and enjoyed kicking back in the adorable cabin. We will certainly be back!
