About Liz Sibley
My husband Hiram and I have lived in Alpine for 35 years. He is a 3rd generation West Texan. I am a hybrid from all over (England, South Africa, Virgin Islands) We founded the Alpine Montessori School 29 years ago/I worked as the admin. for 14 years and am still very involved. I'm a mosaic artist. Our 2 children were born and reared in West Texas (you raise chickens, you rear kids:) Both are artists. Chris is in Film/Media in LA/Austin/Alpine and Rachel is also in Tech/Media/Creative arts. We are very proud of this beautiful area we call home and are tickled to share it with you via our guest cottage/Historic home: The Alpine Studio. Come stargaze and enjoy!
Liz Sibley purchased this House in 2013
Why Liz Sibley chose Alpine
We rescue and restore old houses. The Studio has always appealed to us architecturally and historically. We also own the Historic Bottle House BnB next door. Murphy Street is a fabulous area that is coming 'into it's own' with murals, cool restaurants, shops and galleries.

Perfect location, wonderful place, very affordable
The property is perfectly located downtown Alpine. The view is wonderful. Walking distance from shopping, dining and venues. Stayed while attending a concert at Railroad Blues. Very clean, artsy, and affordable! Quick response from the owners. Very impressed! Will be back!
Great location with eclectic vibe
Cute and eclectic place!! Perfect for our family, and within walking distance to downtown area. We very much enjoyed it!
Thanks for leaving the Studio so spotless - and taking care of my flowers :)
Great location, super cute property with artsy character
We stayed at the Alpine Studio in Alpine for Spring Break and it was a fantastic home base for our jaunts throughout West Texas. Convenient to Big Bend, Terlingua, Marfa, Fort Davis, McDonald Observatory among others. The property is clean and cute, with plenty of character you'd expect from an historic artsy building. We had a super time and hope to return in the future!
you are such dear road warriors ! thanks ! come back soon
So inviting and comfortable. Every day we saw a new piece of art and a new perspective on things in Alpine Studio. We had some great conversations about the decor to the art in the Alpine Studio. At 115 years old the Alpine Studio is comfortable and the energy is easy like Sunday Morning. I loved the fact that we could open the windows and enjoy our morning coffee at the kitchen table. The sloped floor into the bathroom was a bit tricky at 3am but the place is 115 years old! Liz thought of everything to help us navigate the space and had little notes everywhere that were easy to understand. Liz even provided earplugs as the train came through town. I look forward to going back to the quirky little neighborhood in Alpine Texas. Thank you for the hospitality!
thank you for taking the time to respond so beautifully! so glad you enjoyed your time with us ! Liz
Charming spot right in the heart of downtown Alpine.
We had a great time. Will def book again in the future.
So enjoyed hosting you Amanda - thanks for the lovely review and - come back - anytime ! All the best,
Cute artsy retreat a few blocks away from all things Alpine!
Super cute, small studio that is a perfect basecamp for walking through the main stretch of Alpine or as a launch pad for driving to explore Marfa, Fort Davis and even Big Bend!
Accomodations were artfully decorated, the bed was comfortable and provided ear plugs came in handy for sleeping soundly through the late night trains!
Also important to mention that Liz is a great host who clearly cares deeply about both her community in Alpine and the quality of her guests stay. Thanks, Liz!
Sam - such a HUGE pleasure to welcome you and yours - so tickled you thoroughly enjoyed your stay - thanks for being such a lovely guest! All the best, Liz
The Alpine Studio is located next door to Seiko's Japanese airstream food truck and our other BnB: The Historic Bottle House. Tom Curry Gallery is next door to the Alpine Studio and there are several fun shops (Murphy Street Mercado) and restaurants where you can dine on tasty mexican food (Jalapeños), enjoy delicious coffee/internet and shop for gifts and treasures. The Murphy Street Alpine Farmer's Market is 1 block away on Saturday mornings.
The place is incredibly well located for exploring on foot.
Holland Street is one block north of Murphy Street and it is the "other" main street (on the north side of the "tracks": Amtrak)
Holland Street boasts: The Holland Hotel (2 blocks) with a great bar and restaurant. Across from the Holland is a fab restaurant/bar with gluten free (if you wish) pizza: Guzzi Up. The Saddle Club (lovely bar and tapas/4 blocks away), the Reata restaurant (upscale: 4 blocks), the world famous Railroad Blues honky tonk pub/music venue (4 blocks),the Rangra movie theatre (1 block), several art galleries/fabulous shops (Ivey's, Kiowa Gallery, "yours truly" at Galeria Sibley, ) and locally owned Front Street Books/PLAINE coffee shop (wonderful homemade pastries/cappucinos) with the best West Texas "Cow Dogs" next door (including vegan:)
Family Friendly activities : a llama and burro ranch 10 mins from alpine in beautiful Sunny Glen : Wasserman Wranch
Indoor swimming pool at Sul Ross University is $2.00
Great hiking trail behind Sul Ross University (look for the desk at the top of the mountain and the bicycle art hanging in a tree - HINT - both are on the eastern side of Sul Ross hill looking over a house with domes in the distance :)
The skies in our country are unfathomably clear and beautiful so make sure to schedule a Star Gazing party at McDonald's Observatory in Fort Davis about 45 minutes away. The Fort is also a lovely spot.
