We have found New Orleans to be filled with homes with great bones that need to be renovated. D'Orleans is part of a property that has been completely renovated, one of many in our neighborhood, breathing new life into our community and neighborhood.
Kim Gagnon purchased this apartment in 1999
Part of a property that we found in need of total renovation,
it had great bones, hardwood floors, beautiful windows, but needed more than TLC. D'Orleans was gutted and renovated to a perfect spot for that get a way!
Easy access to sites and French Quarter. Fine dining in our neighborhood including Pascals Manale for BBQ shrimp.
Superior Seafood, High Hat Cafe, Il Posto coffee shop as well as French Truck are within a couple of blocks.
Access to shopping on Magazine as well as Audubon Park and the University area are handy via the streetcar. Garden District is only a few minutes away as well.
This was my first time in New Orleans. The home is in a very traditional New Orleans part of town. The neighborhood is beautiful and I really enjoyed walking around. It felt very safe. Close enough to the city with the street car and good distance away from the craziness of Bourbon st. . Right away we noticed how clean the home is and everything we needed was in the kitchen. We took a quick uber ride to the store to stock up on food. Otherwise we used public transportation. Uber from the airport was about $30. The owner was very hospitable. The bed was comfortable. I would stay here again and hope to be back in New Orleans many more times.
Enjoyed our stay very much. The owner Kim is very welcoming and friendly. Location is awesome; roads still not very good. Place comfy with only complaint WIFI weak, but she is working on it.
The owner of this property couldn't have more on target regarding this property. Clean, well appointed, convenient and as comfortable as we could have hoped. If you need a home away from home and don't want to be in the noise of the tourist sections of New Orleans this is as good as it gets. We loved our week here and would go back if the opportunity arises. Great VRBO experience!
Excellent place with first rate location (for me). Clean and nicely appointed. It is small, most appropriate for 1 or 2.
The location of this little gem is perfect with the street car just a few blocks away. The space is extremely comfortable, the decor is very tastefully New Orleans.Off street parking is a plus.
The owner could not have been more welcoming or helpful providing suggestions for local outings and wonderful neighborhood dining. We can't wait to visit again!
Everything was very nicely equipped, decorated and clean. We were a bit skeptical at first of the surrounding neighborhoods but the more we walked around we felt very safe .Lots of charm and character to the historic homes and easy access to restaurants and bars.Although we did have a bit of trouble navigating because we've never used streetcars or buses. Our android phone was on the blink at times so that didn't help. We did ride the streetcar on St Charles Ave but the track was being worked on so it was a bit of a walk to get there. We relied on taxi service most of the time. We recommend the stay here if you don't mind being further from the French quarter. All in all we didn't mind because we go to see more of the neighborhood. Dined at Pascal Manale and the waiter was very helpful as to what to do and not to do lol..Owners were out of town but their daughter was very nice and helpful as well. We loved New Orleans! Thank You so much!
