About Kim Gagnon

We have found New Orleans to be filled with homes with great bones that need to be renovated. D'Orleans is part of a property that has been completely renovated, one of many in our neighborhood, breathing new life into our community and neighborhood.

Kim Gagnon purchased this apartment in 1999

Why Kim Gagnon chose Uptown

Part of a property that we found in need of total renovation,

it had great bones, hardwood floors, beautiful windows, but needed more than TLC. D'Orleans was gutted and renovated to a perfect spot for that get a way!

What makes this apartment unique

Superior Seafood, High Hat Cafe, Il Posto coffee shop as well as French Truck are within a couple of blocks.

Super comfortable and great location!

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our week in New Orleans. D'Orleans is even better than the photos! We found it to be super comfortable and home-like, with plenty of space for us to spread out. The kitchen was well-equipped, allowing us to fix breakfast in the mornings before heading out and to warm-up our many leftovers. There were more than enough fluffy towels for our week-long stay. Unlike some of the places we have stayed, there was plenty of toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, tissues, cleaning products, etc. Daughter tried out the pool on our warmest day. It was a very welcome change from staying in the quarter: blissfully quiet and bright. Everything smelled of jasmine rather than garbage. Parking out front was a huge bonus. Very easy to navigate the neighborhood. Just a 4 block, well-lit (if you walk down the neutral ground) walk to the streetcar stops. We took the streetcar into the French Quarter a couple of times and to Lafayette Square for Wednesday at the Park. CVS and Walgreens are right down Napoleon and Walmart, WinnDixie, and other groceries are the opposite direction and then down Tchoupatoula. Freret Street and all it's restaurants is only a few blocks away. We had no difficulty finding parking at any of the places we visited, including the northern end of Esplanade in the Marigny. Our daughter was visiting Tulane during our visit, and it was just a hop-skip-and-a-jump away. So easy! Drove out to the Chalmette Battlefield one day and the Barrataria Preserve (beautiful!) on another. Very, very easy to navigate from this address. We definitely will visit again!

Perfect neighborhood to stay in!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed just shy of a week. Seriously the most perfect neighborhood to stay in. Felt safe the entire time and did plenty of walking. Loved that Feret Street was around the corner. High Hat Cafe was delicious! We checked out the surrounding areas and found the best food ever! We didn’t even have a meal in French Quarters. Around the corner there’s French Truck Coffee, their toasts were my favorite start of the days and the Goji Coffee was pretty awesome!

Kim was a spectacular host, the neighbors were fantastic as well, incredibly friendly. Would certainly stay here again in the future, we didn’t want to leave to come back home!

Amazing and beautiful home!!! Kim is absolutely an amazing, sweet, welcoming host. The home is 100% as described and with so many extra details that make it incredibly wonderful. I hope to stay there anytime I visit New Orleans!

Tired of the usual overpriced hotel gauntlet that is New Orleans I decided to try a different approach with VRBO.

I took the challenge seriously and spent the better part of a day researching places to stay that were reasonably priced, in a good location, and aesthetically pleasing.

I hit the jackpot with D'Orleans. It was quintessential New Orleans; high ceilings, fabulous old hardwood floors, with furnishings to match; a truly gorgeous updated kitchen, SPARKLING clean, fantastic location, spacious feeling, and VERY important in New Orleans, felt (and was) very safe--complete with a dedicated driveway.

The hosts, Kim and Gilles were wonderful, helpful, and clearly enjoy what they do. They completed the delightful experience, or to put it another way; they were the icing on the cake.

The entire experience was perfection.

Almost like being at home.

Great location, well equipped and appointed house. Easy access to all parts of the city. Only drawback was the couch / sleepsofa in the living room was very uncomfortable to sit on.

Great location for a couples weekend in Uptown

Everything we needed in a place to stay away from the quarter. Bed was small for two grown adults and a bit lumpy, but who comes to New Orleans to sleep?
