Tucked away private cottage with gorgeous views and all the amenities you need!
My wife and I celebrated our belated honeymoon at Just Enough Cottage and couldn't have asked for a better home base to explore St. John. We were only the second set of guests post Hurricane Irma. Despite the devastating damage in Coral Bay, the cottage remained entirely intact and was just as it is pictured in the site photos. The owner did a tremendous amount of work to re-landscape the walking path and install automatic solar lighting along the path and cottage stairwell. Sounds like they are working to pull the cottage off the power grid and get to full solar power! The cottage had everything we needed for our five day stay and we ended up preparing most of our meals in the well-equipped kitchen.
The owners and property manager were just wonderful during the process of booking, and the waiting game post-hurricane to decide whether or not to keep our trip. (*Coral Bay got power back just a few days prior to our arrival!)
All the locals we met were grateful we kept our trip - the island, still recovering in many ways, is READY FOR VISITORS! The beaches are stunning, the restaurants are open, the beer is cold, and the markets are stocked. We would go back in a heartbeat and stay at the cottage.
NOTE: you'll definitely want to rent a 4WD vehicle for your whole stay if you choose Just Enough cottage. The road coming up to the cottage is extremely steep.
Thanks Rica! We certainly appreciated you keeping your reservation and coming to support the island, as I know it wasn't an easy decision. We're so so glad you enjoyed your honeymoon -- Just Enough is a great spot to celebrate a honeymoon! St. John is resilient and while recovery efforts continue, as you note, the island is back up and running, ready to serve our visitors. As our cottages were thankfully spared damage from the storms, we were able to ready for rentals! Much thanks again for your business, and we look forward to hosting you again in the future!
Just Enough is a beautiful cottage over looking Coral bay.
Just Enough cottage has everything you need for a wonderful stay on St. John. Beautiful views of the bay and close to restaurants and beaches.
Had an awesome time at Just Enough cottage on St John, Coral Bay. We really loved this" screened in" Cottage and would definitely return.
Perfect view - "Just Enough" for a comfortable escape to paradise
"Just Enough" has everything you need for your stay on the beautiful St. John. The house has everything you need (other than laundry) and great views of Coral Bay from both decks. The iguanas in the tops of the trees were perfect to wake up and watch with our coffee every morning! It's close to great restaurants in Coral Bay - Skinny Legs, Shipwreck, Aqua Bistro were all great. It's also only a short drive up the Northshore Drive to great beaches like Trunk Bay, Cinnamon Bay, Maho Bay, and Waterlemon Cay. We also loved the short drive the other direction down to Salt Pond Bay. The only thing to remember is gas and laundry need to be done in Cruz Bay on the other end of the island. Other than that, you could never leave your quiet side of the island and have a wonderful time! Cathy was great to meet us and get us situated at the property, and very responsive if you have even something minor that needs a fix at the house. Would definitely stay here (or at New Moon) on our next trip to St. John!
As a side note - would definitely recommend a side trip over to The Baths on Virgin Gorda and Soggy Dollar on Jost Van Dyke if you have the time and budget for a boat trip!
Wonderful place, it was "just enough" we had a party of 3 and never felt cramped, cant wait to go back!
Cozy Magic Treehouse
After some issue with which of the two properties we were staying in, we ended up in Just Enough. The views are amazing, you can even gaze at Coral Bay from the comfort of the shower. The floors in the house are gorgeous, I would love them in my own home. Comfortable bed, great airflow so you do not miss A/C at all. The decks are both great, fun to sit out and watch the little birds eating sugar and lizards in the treetops. Coral bay is close by and there are great places to eat there if you don't feel like using the kitchen or the grill. (we put both to good use) Once you get the roads down, nothing is hard to get to on St. John. The house was a good fit for our little family of 3.
While the property itself is great and we do tell everyone that it was a great place to stay, the on-island manager was a little disappointment. She emailed us as we were leaving to tell us the original house we were supposed to stay in of the two properties, we would not be in and she was putting us in Just enough. (the two properties are right next to each other) Instead of meeting us to get us in the property, she sent a "friend", and she also had that "friend" give us his car for the first two days because she double booked the car we rented from her, but chose to tell us it was being repaired. (we saw the people who were in the other cottage using it so we knew it wasn't being repaired it was there when they were and we saw them drive it and they left the keys in it for us when they left.) The "friend" had his own opinions on her and shared them, but he was super helpful anytime we talked to him. We also had an issue the night before we left with the lock box and being as she is nearly impossible to get a hold of, it was a really stressful last night of the vacation waiting on her to make an effort to contact us back. I think, but I can't be sure, but we might have seen the property manager once, but it also might have been the cleaning lady for the other cottage. Also we were there for 9 nights and a refresh of towels would have been nice, they tend to get stinky.
All in all the property itself is great, and if you do not need the manager or you have the patience, its a wonderful place to stay and I would recommend it for a rather relaxing stay.
We're so sorry and surprised to hear that you were disappointed by the property manager, but it sounds like this did not hamper your enjoyment of the property. We've had nothing but great feedback on our manager's efforts up until now, as evidenced by many of the other reviews posted on the site and the guest log we keep at the house. We can assure you that it is our policy to respond to guest's needs as quickly as possible, and to provide an interim cleaning service (including new towels) to guests staying longer than 7 nights. Unfortunately you were there at a time when the backup safe keys were on order (things often take longer than expected to get to St. John); We've taken steps to ensure that our manager will be better prepared to deal with this issue in the future. We appreciate the honest feedback and have addressed your concerns with our manager.
