Why Patti Dilzer chose Chincoteague Island

We built our vacation home in Chincoteague after vacationing there ourselves for years. We wanted to have our own place, with all the comforts of home. We love the natural beauty of the view of Assateague Island, and the long, ever-changing beach at Assateague, and the birds and ponies. We love to enjoy the sunset from the upper deck.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Welcome to Island Time. Here are a few comments from our our former guests. 'Your home is wonderful' fabulous decks, georgeous sunrises... 'The overall design is superb, love the windows, the excellent sound system and CDs...

We try to keep the house fresh and up-to-date, and we listen to our guest comments to guide improvements..

Wonderful home in convenient location

  • 5 of 5

This home has everything you need to relax and unwind. Our family of seven adults spent much of our time kayaking right from the back yard. It is also possible to jog, walk or bike to the beach as it is an easy 3 1/2 miles from the house. One of our favorite features of the house was the dinning table located in the screened in porch, which allowed us to enjoy the crab dinner that we ordered from a nearby restaurant. The views from the house are also beautiful. The house is spacious and the kitchen is well stocked. Our only complaint at all would be the comfort level of the pull out couch. While it may be fine for children, it is not ideal for an adult. We will definitely be back, but next time, we will bring an air mattress.

What a fantastic vacation we just had!  My husband, myself, and our two boys didn't want to leave, but sadly, all good things must come to an end.  We LOVED Island Time. As soon as we walked in it felt like a home away from home. And then it got even better . . .we saw the views it had to offer!! BEAUTIFUL!!  The kitchen is completely stocked. I don't think I ever stayed in a house where the kitchen wasn't missing something, but this one had everything I needed and then some!  Our boys (ages 4 and 2) had a great time playing with the toys that were there.  My husband loved being able to put his kayak in the water and set off whenever he wanted - right from the house!  We went biking, fishing, crabbing, climbed to the top of the lighthouse, to the beach, ate more than we should have, enjoyed the views, read, and so much more. And, that was with TWO days of crappy weather thrown in. I enjoyed watching the rain from the seating area on the top level. I would highly recommend this house to anyone interested in going to Chincoteague. The location and comfort cannot be beat!!  Thank you Patti and David!!

Wonderful owners and fantastic space for families

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at numerous homes through Home Away and VRBO and the owners of this home are the nicest and most accommodating we have ever experienced - before, during, and after our visit. The home is perfect for families or large groups with ample space to spread out. The location is private yet close to everything - something that is appreciated during the crowds and noise of the famous pony swim festivities. We thoroughly enjoyed the "bucket list" event but also appreciated being able to return to a peaceful setting at night. Our kids had a blast with the crab traps and the water way right outside the house. And as parents, we appreciated the space for everyone to have his or her own room. The house is very nicely appointed, clean, and well maintained. If you are visiting Chincoteague, you will not find a better rental.

A wonderful home in Chincoteague

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time on our trip and loved this beautiful home. This home shows pride of ownership....something lacking in a lot of vacation rentals. It is extremely clean, solidly built and very well maintained. It is perfectly stocked - everything you need for a great vacation. We enjoyed biking all over the island and on Assateague Island. We also enjoyed the Veteran's Memorial Park - great tennis courts. There is a recycling and trash collection center just a mile or so away that was very convenient and we preferred to bring our recyclables and trash there every other day rather than use the trash bin. Lots of good food including fish tacos, shrimp, and pizza! Cute little downtown with a used bookstore that we enjoyed. Thanks for sharing this lovely place!

Perfect island getaway

  • 5 of 5

The description of the house was very accurate. It was a lovely house with great views. The neighborhood was very quiet and cozy. Although you had houses around you, it was still very private.

The owners were very easy to work with and gave good instructions. The house was clean and very comfortable.

The views of the sunrises were wonderful. If you are a bird watcher, then you will love all the different types of birds! Great location, easy to get to and will definitely stay at Island Time again.

A little bit of Paradise

  • 5 of 5

My parents and I thoroughly enjoyed our 5 day stay at this amazing house in a little bit of paradise. We were sad to leave and immediately started thinking about when to return. The house is welcoming and comfortable without being pretentious, which I really appreciate. We felt very much at home and especially loved sitting on the upper and lower decks, depending on the time of day. Morning and nighttime were perfect for the upper deck, while the lower deck and screened in porch provided shade in the heat of the afternoon. So much thought and care has gone into the design of the house, which integrates beautifully with the natural surroundings. There is a high level of privacy here with large trees separting the adjacent houses.

I kayaked as much as possible, but we also loved staying at the house. Even the one really rainy day was enjoyable as we remained cozy inside and watched the rain fall through the many windows. The windows, in fact, are one of the best features of this house. Lots of light and so many views. The property was immaculately clean and the kitchen well-stocked. One oddity is that there is no oven, but there is an outdoor grill and of course a stove. We had no need for an oven and were able to cook our meals without difficulty. Love the rounded dining nook! I would definitely come back for another vacation (longer would be better) and do highly recommend this property for smaller groups or families.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your review. We like hearing from our guests. One clarification - while we don't have a standard oven, the microwave is also a convection oven, so you can bake. And thanks for noticing the cleanliness - we think we have the best housekeeper and we will be sure to let her know that you noticed.
