About the Property
Privately owned, self-catering rental with two bedrooms, sleeps 4+1
'Journey's End' (Monte Lemos 9C) is one of a crescent of fourteen town houses which are all privately owned. The house is set in beautiful, mature, landscaped gardens with colourful planting and lawned areas. The magnificent weir pool being the central feature. Both the bedrooms, one double/one twin, and the bathroom are on the ground floor. The double has patio doors leading onto a south facing terrace overlooking the enclosed gardens to the swimming pool.
Upstairs, patio doors lead from the lounge to the larger balcony, facing south. Along with A/con a log burner is fitted, making this an ideal base for a winter stay. There is a cloakroom and modern spacious dining/kitchen with full cooker, f-freezer, m-wave and w-machine. A balcony, which overlooks the town to the west and enjoys the evening sun, leads off the kitchen. English Sky TV, streamed by the internet, music system, Ipad dock, Wii, PS2, Books, DVD and video are provided along with CD's, DVD's and video's to amuse Adults and Children. WiFi has recently been installed.
Car Hire and things!: Although recommended, it is not essential if you just want to relax around the pool and Luz beach. A train from Faro to Lagos is very cheap. An interesting journey! Taxis and shuttle buses are available direct from the airport. A good supermarket is just a 5 minute walk as are several excellent restaurants. (75 I am told, I must have a count) The local bus service is inexpensive and reliable. Taxi from Lagos is about €7.
An abundance of excursions will take you all over the Algarve. These are itemised in the red folder, our favorites are probably the Jeep Safari up into the Mountains, an interesting day out, lots of history, or the Dolphin Seafari, the boat trip has to be experienced. All local pick ups. Adrian can arrange everything for you and probably have more suggestions himself, just ask him.
Around the Area: The western area is the least developed part of the Algarve. It is famous for its coastal scenery and wonderful beaches, those on the west coast being especially popular with surfers. Walkers will enjoy the Cabo de Sao Vincente National park and the mountains to the north. The nearby historic town of Silves and the mountain area around Monchique are well worth visiting. Cape St Vincent, the most South Westerly point in mainland Europe is only 30 minutes away by car. The area has many attractions for children including a zoo and a water theme park. You can even swim with Dolphins. The various Safaris, water and land born, out of Lagos are enormous fun. Again Adrian will advise and help. He is not quite superman but very close.
Low Season: The area is very suitable for out of season breaks. Winter weather is mild and usually sunny with daytime temperatures in the 15-20C range. Most restaurants remain open all year and there are always visitors around. However, it does get a bit chilly at night. This is where the log burner, Air conditioning and electric radiators come into their own. An ongoing comment in the visitors book is that the pictures do not do the house justice, it is a lot bigger and open than they portray. We have now fitted a childproof stair gate and installed a PS2 and a Wii with various games. Opened in November 2008 is the 'Autodromo do Algarve' This is fully approved by the FIA for F1 GP's and the FIM for Superbikes. The circuit is just a 20 minute drive from the house. Golfers are well catered for, with 6 courses within a 30 minute drive. Boa Vista being the nearest at just a 5 minute drive.

- PLEASE NOTE: FOR YOUR AND OUR PEACE OF MIND. THE PROPERTY HAS AN ANNUAL SAFETY CHECK BY A QUALIFIED ENGINEER. ALSO FITTED ARE Co2 MONITORS, SMOKE ALARMS, FIRE EXTINGUISHERS AND FIRE BLANKET. Please make yourself aware of their positions on arrival. Fitted stair safety gate. All linen, bath, hand and now beach towels are provided. High chairs and cots can be provided at cost. For a 2 week or more stay, cleaning would be weekly, a change of bed linen and towels if required. This is a very small condominium of just 14 houses. You will experience a very friendly warm atmosphere. You will find a 'red' book that gives all the essential numbers, doctors, hospitals etc. It will also give guests suggestions of where to go, what to do and where to eat. Car: Not Necessary
Praia da Luz is just 7 kilometres from Lagos, the main town of The Western Algarve. Lagos is a beautiful town with a marina, restaurants and bars. Praia da Luz is more of a village, but boasts some excellent restaurants and bars. It has a long sandy beach with water sports and is ideal for children. Within a 20 minute drive you have a choice of 4 superb golf courses, Parque de Floresta, Palmares, Boavista and Penina. It is a drive of approximately 30 minutes to the west coast and the spectacular quiet beaches of this most South Westerly point of Europe.
Other Activities: sleeping, Eating, relaxing!!! Oh and WiFi now installed.

About the owner: I am a Farm Manager in North East Essex, my wife is the secretary, livery yard manager and all round good sort. We have been here since 1983 and for a while yet. As I have to live in the farmhouse, 'Journey's End' is the only house we own.
Why the Owner Chose Luz, Portugal:
Went to Luz with a friend for a boys break in 2002, Got off the plane on the 14th January and it was 26 deg C. Came home and told Margaret, we are selling our house in the UK and buying one in Luz. We went out in May and she agreed there and then. Took us a while to find the right place, regardless of our budget we found it and have never regretted it for one second. The Portuguese people are friendly and welcoming. The majority speak English which in some ways is unfortunate as there is no motivation to learn the language. But there Beer & coffee is fairly universal.!!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Although we look at it as an investment, it has to pay it's way. Whatever we bought had to reach our standard. A place that we liked and were comfortable with, easily rent-able, somewhere that was a home from home. A place that guests would want to return to year after year. That has certainly been the case, we have one family going out in June of 2016 for their 11th time.Two separate families have just booked for 2016 for their sixth visit. It is quiet, relaxing, but within walking distance of all the amenities in Luz. The furnishings are of high quality, fitted out personally for us. We are told we have thought of everything, maybe you can suggest something that we have overlooked!!
