Overview

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1.25 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

Kamewile Cottage, is an original sugar plantation manager’s cottage, lovingly renovated and beautifully appointed in Island Style. It features a new fully-equipped kitchen, new bath, two spacious bedrooms, comfortable living room, lanai, and landscaped garden. Its nine and a half foot ceilings, giant airy windows, original crown moldings and wainscoting, original wood floors, and tropical ceiling fans in each room give you the feeling of 'paradise of old.'

The home is in Kekaha, the sunniest area of Kauai boasting the longest white sand beach in the Hawaiian Islands. This is the true Hawaii, away from the tourist-filled beaches and stores, where church services and grocery-store conversations are still heard in the Hawaiian language. Yet great restaurants, grocery, farmers market, shops, art galleries, and great Kauai outdoor activities are minutes away. Kekaha is at the doorway to Waimea Canyon, the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, famous for its hiking opportunities and vistas of the Napoli coastline.

THE PERFECT WEST SIDE LOW-KEY DAY:

Awake for coffee on the garden lanai.

Take a morning walk on the longest white sand beach on Kauai.

Stop for lunch at the Lodge at Kokee before an invigorating hike in Waimea Canyon.

Wash off your hiking muscles in the outdoor hot shower.

Stroll two doors down to the beach, cocktail in hand, to watch the island’s best sunset.

Prepare a light supper in the fully-equipped gourmet kitchen.

Then sleep peacefully in your pillow-top king and queen beds with luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets.

Kamewile Cottage is rented under NCU certificate #TVNC-4216. On-island contact for emergencies: 808-639-0772.

We had a wonderful time staying at this restored plantation cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful plantation cottage for our stay on the West side of Kaua'i. It had everything we needed for a relaxing evening after exploring Waimea Canyon or a day at the beach. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home! We plan to return to Kaua'i and we would love to stay here again!

Get place to start a Hawaiian vacation

  • 5 of 5

Nice cottage for a couple or family with younger children as there is a small lawn area to play/run. There's room for 2 couples or older kids but there's only one bathroom. Outdoor shower was refreshing. Kitchen and BBQ great for simple dinners. Speaking of food suggest Safeway or Costco in Lihue for most items as the two stores nearby are small. Big save is the largest. This is the perfect place to stay and explore the Waimea Canyon without the long drive back to Princeville or Kappa. You're in a neighborhood area but it was quiet and in the evening one can hear the crashing surf about a block or so away. However thanks to hurricane Iniki and the new stste bird, the chicken, sleeping in is not likely. Salt Pond beach is a great beach and even has a huge tidal pool for young kids. Snorkeling is so so but the main area is great to swim in. Mats and chairs for the beach are at the house along with coolers. Very relaxing. Come and enjoy

Exactly what we were looking for in Hawaii!

  • 5 of 5

Can't say enough about the wonderful experience we had at Pam's plantation cottage. Two weeks to explore the island always knowing our peaceful home was waiting, far away from the resort settings with yet another fabulous sunset a block away.

There were comments about how remote Kekaha is and in view of how small an island Kauai is, it was just remote enough to suit us.

We loved the town of Waimea and especially the poke heaven at the

Ishihara Market and the amazing local farmed fresh shrimp prepared many ways with delight. One night out with friends at the Wrangler Steakhouse proved to be excellent.

Hanapepe for swimming at the Salt Pond and Friday Art night were a treat.

Adventures galore with Rob on the Napali Experience boat up the coast and of course the Blue Hawaiian Helicopter ride.

Waimea Canyon hikes, hikes out of Ke'e Beach, Polihale and the Maha'ulepu were among the memorable days.

The cottage itself were very comfortable equipped with high end cooking utensils, which we appreciated as we cooked in almost every night.

We learned to discourage the early morning rooster chorus, employing the hose by the outdoor shower to good use when called for.

Beds are comfortable and all the fans help for sleeping.

The outdoor shower is the best!

A good time was had by all and my son proposed to his girlfriend at the uppermost Pu'u o Kila Lookout with its knockout view of the Kalalau Valley. This is how memories are made!

Thanks, Pam

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful cottage on the southwest side of the island. If you want a quiet vacation away from (most of) the tourists, this spot is for you. The kitchen has everything you'd need and the bedrooms are both quite large. I really appreciated all the gear available, like the beach chairs, umbrella, and cooler.

Great property; well appointed. The chickens, however, made it impossible to sleep thru the nite :( 🐤?
