Overview

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1.25 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

Kamewile Cottage, is an original sugar plantation manager’s cottage, lovingly renovated and beautifully appointed in Island Style. It features a new fully-equipped kitchen, new bath, two spacious bedrooms, comfortable living room, lanai, and landscaped garden. Its nine and a half foot ceilings, giant airy windows, original crown moldings and wainscoting, original wood floors, and tropical ceiling fans in each room give you the feeling of 'paradise of old.'

The home is in Kekaha, the sunniest area of Kauai boasting the longest white sand beach in the Hawaiian Islands. This is the true Hawaii, away from the tourist-filled beaches and stores, where church services and grocery-store conversations are still heard in the Hawaiian language. Yet great restaurants, grocery, farmers market, shops, art galleries, and great Kauai outdoor activities are minutes away. Kekaha is at the doorway to Waimea Canyon, the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, famous for its hiking opportunities and vistas of the Napoli coastline.

THE PERFECT WEST SIDE LOW-KEY DAY:

Awake for coffee on the garden lanai.

Take a morning walk on the longest white sand beach on Kauai.

Stop for lunch at the Lodge at Kokee before an invigorating hike in Waimea Canyon.

Wash off your hiking muscles in the outdoor hot shower.

Stroll two doors down to the beach, cocktail in hand, to watch the island’s best sunset.

Prepare a light supper in the fully-equipped gourmet kitchen.

Then sleep peacefully in your pillow-top king and queen beds with luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets.

Kamewile Cottage is rented under NCU certificate #TVNC-4216. On-island contact for emergencies: 808-639-0772.

Quiet Qaint Cottage in Old Hawaii

  • 5 of 5

Beautifully redone. Love the outdoor shower and resident visiting GREEN geckos! Very comfy bed. Lots of fans for air. Plenty of plush towels.

Kitchen adequately equipped- nice to have some staples already there upon arrival. BBQ in very good condition. Resident banana trees- thanks! Very close to beach/ocean.

Beach accessories galore- chairs, umbrella, towels, boogie boards, cooler/insulated bag.

We cook a lot so I would have liked a few more baking items ( sheet pan, pie plate, more serving dishes, few more dinner plates, stronger blender; but nice salad spinner!)

Nice location for getting to Waimea Canyon hiking.

First time in Kauai

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had a wonderful stay a the Plantation Cottage. The kitchen was well stocked, the beds were comfortable, and we made good use of the grill out back. We were able to eat bananas from the tree in the backyard, and see the sunsets from the beach at the end of the road! We appreciated having the air conditioner in the bedroom, as it was hot and humid while we were there. They also helped to "drown out" the roosters in the morning. Overall we had a great time and would recommend the cottage.

Relaxing and simple cottage

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at this cottage. It had everything we needed, including a pack n play for our baby. We enjoyed having breakfast on the lanai and all of the natural lighting in the cottage. The location was great for west side exploring and low key, which is what we were looking for. We also enjoyed the outdoor shower after a day at the beach.

Great accommodations in a wonderful location.

  • 5 of 5

If this is your first visit to Kauai then you might want to start out in a more tourist-oriented area like Poipu, where everything you need is right there – restaurants, shops, other tourists.

But if you’ve been to Kauai and already know your way around, and want to get out of the “Tourist Zone”, then this is a perfect choice. A short walk to a beautiful sunset. Convenient access to many nearly deserted beaches. Mingle with the real locals, who are very friendly and welcoming if you behave respectfully. Clean, comfortable quarters and well equipped.

Wonderful place. All the necessary amenities. Quiet and away from the crowds!

  • 5 of 5

This was a nice place to stay. Very similar to what we expected based on VRBO description. The cottage was clean, located in a quiet neighborhood, well equipped including A.C. in the bedrooms and close to the beach. Early morning wake up call by local rooster.😀?

Loved this house

  • 5 of 5

I had a great one-week stay in this charming, well-equipped house. It's set behind a larger house but is completely surrounded by foliage and very private. I especially appreciated the outdoor shower and the porch for sitting in the evening. Across the main road is a miles-long beautiful beach--but unfortunately there's no swimming there. You need to drive some distance to find a good beach. Also remember that this is the hot side of the island (the temp was very high when I was there) but there are air conditioners in both bedrooms so sleeping is fine. Support from Sarah, the manager, is excellent--the internet was down for a few days but she and the owner's brother-in-law worked hard to fix it. The house is just far enough away from Waimea (an interesting little town with good places to eat) so that I felt really on vacation.
