in one of the most beautiful monuments of the area: a 50 square meter high stately living room with 4 m high mahogany ceilings in a 120 square meter bright, quiet and comfortable luxury apartment in. 2 Floor of the house. The house, a protected monument of Kreuzberg in one of the most famous streets in Berlin, is firmly in the grip of uniqueness. Gutschow House, built in 1895, an important work of historicism (Neo-Gothic and Neo-Renaissance), is due to the elaborate façade design, its location and its history, the symbol of southern Friedrichstr. It is the only hotel in this area that 100% of the second World War II has survived. A protective spell, perhaps because it was here from 1910 to 1990 the Mecca of the magicians through the magic headquarters of the world-famous magician Conradi-Horster?

'Six of us - women' d'un certain age'- stayed here at the beginning of this winter and werewolf all delighted with our choice. The building is beautiful Itself, redolent of end of empire flourish, while the apartment, with the gracious proportions of at Earlier era is warm and welcoming. We loved the beautiful original wooden floors, decorative plasterwork on the the bedroom ceilings, the sense of space, as well as the terrific shower in a stylish, modern bathroom. Our internal homemakers thrilled to the quality and solidity of the linens and general fittings (and dreamy beds). The kitchen is really well equipped so we did not just eat breakfast there but some prepared meals too, though there are some good restaurants close by. The main room and the bedrooms are really roomy, not even with 6 of us did it ever feel crowded. Marion, our host in Berlin, which welcoming and gave some really useful tips on eating out and things to do, and his welcome package which chosen with care - organic and delicious.

The location is great! so close to Museum Island did it makes a very comfortable stroll before a trip to the unmissable Pergamon. But if walking's not your thing then the wonderful Berlin public transport system is accessible only 2 mins away at the Cook Street stop. Another visit you must make is to the Jewish Museum Which is so only 2 mins walk from the building. This is a great city for history and culture fans, so get booking! you will not regret choosing this apartment as your base for your explorations. But first get fit and keep your luggage minimal; there are two flights to walk up. ' (Dear Curiousnellie, Apartments 11 and 12 have an elevator since 2014.)

Traumhaft schön und so praktisch !

Sie können es sich wirklich kaum vorstellen, wie traumhaft schön diese Altbau-Wohnung ist. Herrlich viel Platz (über 100qm für 3 Zimmer), bester Zustand und perfekte Ausstattung für ein Zuhause auf Zeit. Gegenüber einem kleinen Hotelzimmer hat diese Wohnung nur Vorteile, speziell im Winter ist man dankbar für viel mehr "Auslauf" zum Lesen, Fernsehen und Spiele spielen.

Wir haben in der Wohnung nicht wirklich gekocht; durch den vorhandenen Kühlschrank Konnten wir die Delikatessen aus dem KaDeWe aber kaufen und zum Frühstück geniessen.

Die Verkehrsanbindung zur 2 verschiedenen U-Bahn-Lienien ist mit jeweils 150 - 200m Entfernung perfekt; in Berlin-Mitte brauchen sie kein Auto!

Der Vermieter und seine Familie sind sehr liebenwürdig, hilfsbereit und wahre Berlin-Kenner.

Beautiful Apartment and Building

We really enjoyed are stay in this apartment. It was very beautiful and well taken care of. It is very close to the underground transportation and Check Point Charlie. The beds, bathrooms, kitchen and furnishings were very nice and made for a very enjoyable stay.

Amazing Stay!

The apartment was beautiful, very clean and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Marian met us and even gave us a nice bottle of wine in celebration of my husband's 60th birthday. Everything was just as promised and we had a wonderful time cooking dinners together and seeing Berlin. The apartment is in a great location, and very nicely appointed. We had only to ask for whatever we needed. Marian even gave us a wonderful orientation to the city. We had a wonderful time as a family and would highly recommend My Berlin Style. When we return to Berlin we would consider staying nowhere else! Thank you for all that you did to make it a very lovely part of our holiday.

Our first VRBO

Communication is a key for me. On that score, this wasn't a simple experience. For example, apparently we couldn't upgrade the initial reservation in the same place, but had to start over: refund the first full payment and pay again. The first sight pricing is very misleading, with add ons which make for completely different total. (the VAT and service fees,State tax added on on arrival). ALSO the pictures are NOT all for the apartment you are renting: ie we did not see the indication at the bottom of each picture and assumed that our apt had washer and dryer (key for one couple leaving on 2 more weeks of vacation). It did not; the one we used was for the the whole building! ALSO the advertised elevator only serves one of the apartments! For some things we communicated with the owner and for others with the central VRBO. Another example: for the arrival instructions, we needed to have signed into our VRBO acct. We had internet problems before we left. I assumed that with the address it would be fine. We arrived, to a rather dirty front entrance (wind blown leaves and garbage), with no idea except a small piece of tape on a buzzer, as to what to do. He was there so we got in; for the price of approx 600$ per night (for 6people), and from the gorgeous pictures of the front and the inside, not what we expected, and certainly not like hotel reception. As I was organising for 6 people, these communication issues influenced my experience. We added two more people to the rental for an additional 700$ for the 5 nights. Apt. not suitable for 8 as advertised.

Our french phone worked in Germany so we could call the owner. He was present for questions and does provide a German phone to allow the tenants to call him or taxi free of charge if need be.

It is a lovely, well furnished apartment. Very limited amenities (no shampoo) and flexibility for bed covering (ie request for blankets, received 2 out of 6). Duvets are a cultural thing which we have a problem with being too hot. We had 11c which was on the street (with elevator!), so we couldn't open the window...double windows helped with the street noise. Near by: a small "super" market, an indian restaurant, a welcoming italian restaurant Davinci. We also enjoyed several authentic German restaurants (not nearby). One day we bought a subway pass, but otherwise we ended up walking (check point charlie is nearby but that is only one of the many sights and not central)...or taking 2 taxis for the 6 of us

Great apartment, locatet at a central place

We had a fine stay, but to many the rules and no information in the apartment about this made the the staying complicated. It would be much easier if there was information about WIFI, the luggage room and how to separate the garbage and instruction how to place keys, in the apartment and not only on the internet.

most sights are within walking distance: 2 minutes to Checkpoint Charlie (the most famous symbol of the Cold War); Jewish Museum (the most significant example of contemporary architecture) is our immediate neighbor; 15 minutes to Martin Gropius Bau (main showroom); 20 minutes to Potsdamer Platz (most popular attraction of the New Berlin); 15 minutes to the Gendarmenmarkt (one of the most beautiful marketplaces); 30 minutes to the Brandenburg Gate (the symbol of reunification) and the Reichstag (most famous landmark); 30 minutes to the Museum Island (UNESCO World Heritage Site) with: Old Museum, New Museum, Old National Gallery, Bodemuseum and Pergamon Museum. At Hallesches Tor (3 minutes) is the dock for Berlin's most popular boat tour: the bridge tour.

Is the new center of the Berlin art galleries at this point. Here is the line between alternative and multicultural district of Kreuzberg and the noble district Mitte. 'The culinary excellence town "- Tim Raue Restaurant (3 min), Lafayette (15 min), organic canteen of the Waldorf School Kreuzberg (7 min.), LPG - Europe's largest organic supermarket (10 min.).
