About Neil and Tricia Young
Neil and I moved to Brittany in 2004 leaving behind a very hectic and stressful life in IT and banking! The appeal of the relaxed, family orientated, French way of life drew us to Brittany, where we found and purchased a beautiful hamlet of thatched cottages. Over the last 12 years we have enjoyed developing a successful holiday cottage business, whilst at the same time, immersing ourselves in French village life and getting to grips with the French language and all its many nuances !
Neil and Tricia Young purchased this Cottage in 2004
Why Neil and Tricia Young chose Quistinic
We chose Morbihan (one of the four departments in Brittany) for a number of reasons. Firstly, the beautiful granite stone buildings had a definite appeal - each department has its own unique style fashioned by the building materials local to the area. Secondly, the beautiful undulating landscape, lush and green, very similar to Cornwall and quaint picturesque villages, reminiscent of an ‘olde worlde’ England. Another plus, the temperate climate, warmer than the south of England, but not too hot on balmy summer days, and a convenient distance, just a short two hour drive south from the northern ports of St Malo & Roscoff. Add to the above the wonderful Breton hospitality abound in this area, a host of interesting places to visit, the beautiful Gulf of Morbihan with its many islands to explore, historical towns and medieval cities, megalithic sites and much much more and the list goes on………!
What makes this Cottage unique
There are many plus points for choosing to holiday at Le Helleguy, in one of our two detached thatched cottages, La Chaumiere and/or La Grange : • Located in a quite tranquil area, but within easy access of local amenities and the coast • Both rated 4 star / 4 key by the French Tourist Board & Clevacannce and so you can be confident of the standard and quality offered in the cottages • La Chaumiere offers ground floor accommodation with en-suite facilities if managing stairs is a problem • The heated swimming pool has a high-tech telescopic shelter which enables indoor swimming in mild/inclement weather and the pool water is heated from 1st April until mid-November • Spa facilities are available onsite, daily and in the evenings • Living in the hamlet ourselves, Neil and I on hand to offer assistance and help make your stay as relaxed and hassle free as possible!

The Perfect Family Holiday
We rented both cottages together to celebrate a seventieth birthday in early June. Two grandparents, six parents and seven grandchildren, ranging from ten months to ten years had a glorious time thanks to Neal and Tricia. Often gites leave one thinking "If only there was a .......". Not so here; we wanted for nothing. From the furnishings to the last item of kitchenware everything was perfect. The garden was beautiful, the pool sublime, and the entertainment equipment choices both indoors and out were endless.
When the opportunity arises we will certainly return. Thank you both for your hospitality.
The cottages are beautiful and the facilities better than any I have experienced on a self catering holiday before. Lovely welcome pack and nothing too much trouble for the owners. Lots to do locally and at the coast.
Le Helleguy, Quistinic
This is indeed a very special holiday venue. The location is superb, deep in the picturesque Brittany countryside, yet easily accessible to many interesting places and to clean sandy beaches. We stayed in La Chaumiere which we found ideal for our family gathering of six adults and three children. The house is immaculately appointed and very comfortable. The swimming pool is a really great asset which we all enjoyed and the gardens are a delight, not only visually but also offering the youngsters space to let off steam. Neil and Tricia are to be thanked for providing a very warm welcome which we appreciated and for offering discrete and unobtrusive assistance when required. We rate this holiday as one of the best we have taken and thoroughly recommend Le Helleguy as a holiday venue.
A very special Christmas!
Le Helleguy was the perfect place for a large family get-together. Three generations enjoyed a fantastic Christmas week in the two, spotlessly clean gites. Each looked very festive with two Christmas trees, holly and decorations and we were provided with a wonderfully generous basket of goodies. There was an endless supply of wood for the woodburner which, combined with the heating, kept us all toasty warm.
We all had a great time together and made full use of the plentiful supply of games, books and dvds in the evenings.
The gites were wonderfully equipped and lacked nothing, (rare indeed, especially in the kitchen!) which was a joy because we could cook and bake as we would at home. That fact, combined with the comfortable beds (again, not always the case), quality linens and towels really made the place feel like a home from home.
Thank you, Neil and Tricia, you were the perfect hosts; there if we needed you but otherwise unobtrusive! We will definitely be returning.
A perfect summer in Brittany
Having waited expectantly for a whole year for our holiday at 'Le Helleguy' we arrived on a dusky Saturday evening in July 2008. Would the properties and their surroundings be as we had imagined them? Well, we certainly weren't disappointed. 'Le Helleguy' is a beautiful, tranquil corner of Brittany with everything that a family - especially a family with little people! - could wish for. Both cottages are superbly equipped with everything you could wish for when away from home. The swimming pool - which has a retractable roof for when the sun comes out to play - is an absolute boon; every morning we would breakfast on one of the many patios and then wend our way over the beautiful lawns for some aquatic fun. The children could not have been happier. And when you want to wander further afield, there is plenty to see and do; the beaches at L'armor Plage were wonderful with long stretches of sand and clear blue water, with surprisingly few visitors even in high season. The final word must go to our wonderful hosts, who treated us as an extension of their own family. Always willing and ready to help or chat, but never intrusive. It is said that being offered a warm welcome on arrival at a holiday property can make the difference between a good holiday and an excellent one and we could not have been better cared for during our two-week stay. Places to eat? Where do I start?! So many to choose from, and so many types of restaurant but anywhere offering sea food is a must. 'Le Rendez-vous des Pecheurs' offered an exceptionally warm welcome with fantastic value for money - 10 Euros for a three course lunch, including wine - and a cheekily chatty host to boot; wonderful stuff. Would we visit 'Le Helleguy' again? Definitely. Should you give it a try? Absolutely!
