Located on the southern shore of Lake Ontario, this house is a nature-lover's paradise. Our cozy lakefront getaway features rustic barn wood walls, brick flooring, pine cabinets, and large windows to catch the breezes and although it looks antique, it has all the modern conveniences. We have 80 acres of privacy to explore and over 900' of waterfront to enjoy. We supply canoes, kayaks and bicycles for your use as well as a gas grill and a charcoal grill. A firepit at the lake's edge is a great gathering place at the end of a busy day.

Growing up in Barker, population 500+/-, I could not wait to leave and see what our country had to offer. The answer I found after being transferred to Michigan, Ohio, New Jersey, Maryland, Kentucky, Georgia and back to Maryland for my work in the hospitality industry is there's no place like home! I enjoy sharing all the attractions our area has to offer from a local's perspective - much more fun than reviewing a tourism brochure!!
Susan purchased this Lodge in 2001
Why Susan chose Barker
My mother, wanting her wandering daughter to return home to Western New York, sent Tom and I a little clipping from the Buffalo News about a bank foreclosure on the Lake Ontario. Our property sat vacant for seven years, was purchased on an internet auction and was brought back to life for all to share. Our lake house has unobstructed views to Toronto, 900' of shoreline, 80 acres of land to explore, privacy and peace and quiet.
What makes this Lodge unique
Our lake house has 900 feet of unobstructed waterfront as well as 80 acres to explore. We are on a major migratory bird route as well as on the Monarch Butterfly flyway. We provide canoes and kayaks as well as bicycles for our guest's enjoyment.

Awesome place and awesome people. We plan on going back next year!
We are so glad you enjoyed your visit and look forward to having you stay again!
I can't say enough about our wonerful stay at the lakehouse. Tom and Susan are some of the friendliest people I've ever had the privilege of meeting. They always made sure we had everything we needed. We came to New York for my nieces wedding, and to get reconnected with my sisters and nieces and nephews. We were able to have everyone out at the lakehouse for cookouts, kayaking and just spending time together at this beautiful location. Everyone had so much fun and made many great memories. We will be back again for family reunions or just to relax.
We are so happy that your family enjoyed their stay at the lake! We enjoyed meeting all of you and would love to have you visit again.
Great Stay - Right on the Lake with lots of Space
We had a marvelous stay. The house is right on Lake Ontario and comfortable with lots of views. And we were treated to the full range of views conditions -- from 5-foot waves and high wind to totally flat water, and from storms to (mostly) beautiful sunshine. The 80-acre property was wonderful -- in addition to the very long water line, there was forest, abandoned orchards of apple, pear, and berries, meadows, and more, even a basketball court. The owners, Tom and Susan were also extremely helpful and hospitable.
We enjoyed meeting you and having you stay at our lake house. If your travels bring you this way again, we would love to have your family and Maggie stay again!
An excellent base for our daughter's wedding week
Step away from the hustle and bustle. The Lake House is a tranquil escape on the banks of Lake Ontario. Eight of us stayed here for a week for our daughter’s wedding. There are five comfortable bedrooms, two bathrooms with good showers, and a lovely, large, open living space and kitchen that worked brilliantly for entertaining. We held the wedding breakfast here on the Sunday for around 50 people, setting tables and chairs up outside overlooking the lake. All our guests thought it was wonderful – some went out canoeing and swimming, some went for a walk in the grounds, while others simply sat and enjoyed the views and the company. It made for a most enjoyable occasion. Our hosts, Tom and Susan, were very helpful. They provided us with a griddle, food warmers and waffle maker, and even cleaned the large porch of their own house for us to use should the weather not be so good. As it was, it was a sunny, warm day so everyone enjoyed sitting out by the lake. There was plenty of parking for all our guests.
Whether you’re looking for a peaceful getaway or, like us, want to host a special event, this lake house is the ideal location. Highly recommended!
We enjoyed meeting you and your family and are so happy that your breakfast went well! If you have the opportunity to travel this way again, come see us.
Comfortable and Welcoming Home
When reading the previous reviews of this property, I wondered how any house could always receive 5 star ratings. Stay here and you'll understand. I'd give the home 6 stars if I could! We had 2 families stay here while clearing up our Dad's estate. The lodge became our sanctuary. We were able to begin each day with the sunrise shining through the trees and end each day with the breathtaking sunset over the lake. On clear nights we were able to see the lights from Toronto. The house is well maintained and spacious. We had enough room to spread out but most nights ended up together at the kitchen table reviewing our progress and planning the next day. It was so nice to have the gas fireplace. It took the chill out of the air each morning as we cooked breakfast. Several nights we grilled supper on the deck, where we had the choice to cook with either gas or charcoal. The house is fully stocked with everything you could need. Nothing has been overlooked by hosts Tom and Susan. Their hospitality is unmatched. Now that we have found this gem, we look forward to staying here again.
Thank you for the excellent review! We enjoyed meeting you and having you stay at our lake house - we hope you will come back for a relaxing visit!
Beautiful View and Private
We had a great time staying at the Lake. The view from the house was wonderful, and we enjoyed wandering around the 80 acres; which included a pond. The house is fully stocked; we cooked Thanksgiving dinner there. The owners were welcoming, gracious, and responsive; all the while respecting our privacy. Thanks for a fun time!
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and your Thanksgiving holiday at the lake! We would love to have you stay again if your future travel plans include our area. Thank you for taking such good care of our lake house!
Our lake house is located 40 minutes from Niagara Falls on the Niagara Wine Trail and is between two great fishing areas - Burt Dam and Point Breeze. Lockport offers the Erie Canal boat ride and the caves. Buffalo is an architect's dream to tour and Rochester's Strong Museum of Play is the best place to spend your day with children. When all the sightseeing is done, there is no better place to relax than on our lakeside decks.
