Lovely little cottage in a great setting
Olive Tree Cottage lives up to its description. It is clean and well cared-for with everything you need for a short break. The swimming pool was fabulous and we enjoyed swimming even in mid-October. The outdoor table tennis was great fun. Anne Marie and Adrian are good, discreet hosts. The setting on the canal du midi is lovely and there are nice views from the garden. We visited Carcassonne and the coast around Perpignan during our stay. The village has an excellent boulangerie but was quiet when we were there outside peak season. There were three adults on our trip and we had all we needed. The shower is brilliant! The cottage is excellent value for money and just as described in the advert.
We again had lovely weather in the Autumn which allowed Lucille, Ewan and Mairi to explore the area and enjoy the swimming pool at the end of the day.
Great place to stay - a hidden gem !
We have just returned from 2 weeks in Olive Tree Cottage.
Ann-Marie and Adrian were very welcoming and great hosts, sharing hints and tips on the local area.
The huge garden was great for the dogs - and the pool provided a welcome relief from the sun.
The gite itself was immaculate and had everything we needed.
There are some nice little eateries nearby in Trebes ( 5 min drive), so we didn't cook at home every night !
The amazing cite of Carcassonne is only ten minutes away - a must to visit.
It was great to welcome you for the 2 weeks in September and Inkie was well pleased to have 2 friends to play with each day. As with previous years the weather in September was extremely good. It would be lovely to welcome you back in the future

Lovely house next to Canal du Midi
Lovely house, well equipped, good location and lovely pool. Excellent barbie & a table tennis table to keep teenagers amused. Ideal spot for wine enthusiasts as you are in the Minevois & Corberies region. Only 20 minute drive to Carcassone & about 40 minutes to the nearest beach. My only issue was no air conditioning in the bedrooms when it is very warm. Otherwise great place and thank you to Ann-Marie & Adrian for being so welcoming.
Thank you for the review we are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us. We dream of air conditioning in our house to! It has been exceptional warm this summer. Air conditioning is definitely something we are considering to add in the future but I hope the fans provided at least circulated some air!

A lovely place to stay.
We had a great holiday at Olive Tree Cottage. The cottage was spacious and comfortable, with all the amenities we could have wanted, and Adrian and Ann-Marie were very attentive hosts. We had to cope with very hot temperatures (up to 38 degrees!) but they bought in extra fans to help for the times we couldn't be in the fab pool! The location was great, with loads to see in the immediate area, and only a 25 min drive from Carcassonne Airport. Would recommend it to anyone.
It was lovely to welcome Simon, Geraldine and the 2 girls to Olive Tree. The girls were especially taken by Inkie our young black lab who loves attention.

We arrived on Sunday evening after an easy drive down from Toulouse airport, and were welcomed by Adrian and Ann-Marie who had kindly made sure there was enough food and wine to see us through the evening..! The location of the gites is idyllic, the Canal du Midi is on the doorstep and a lock gate (which provided hours of entertainment for our 6 year old) is right opposite. There is so much to do without going near the car – you can walk to the village, restaurants and of course the canal - and within the grounds of the gites and house the swimming pool is huge and there are swings and table tennis for the children and competitive adults. Carcassonne is a short drive away, as are water sports on the river, caves in the mountains – the list goes on.
Olive Tree cottage itself has a sheltered courtyard garden with barbeque which is a proper sun trap, backing on to the huge grounds and swimming pool. Inky the dog was a regular visitor particularly at lunch time, but will keep her distance if you prefer! The Randles could not have been better hosts and nothing was too much trouble, including providing a regular supply of some of the best wine we have ever had, sourced from a local vineyard and a bargain..
The weather was a bit mixed - it can be a bit of a lottery in this part of France in May, but when it was hot it was very hot. Otherwise there are really no negatives and we will definitely be back.
Really delighted you enjoyed your stay with us and that the wine and Inky were well received.
We would love to welcome you back again sometime as like you say there is so much exploring of the beautiful region to be done!
Thank you for the review and kind words.

The perfect place to relax and unwind
As a family, with children 18 and 14, we all had a great time during our week at your cottage and after the manic few weeks before our holiday with work and home life, the time to relax and chill out round the pool was most welcome.
The cottage was a true home from home with everything we needed and more, you and Adrian were always there as required with helpful tips on places and restuarants to visit and as you know we all really enjoyed meeting the two boys Callum and Ethan and especially Inkie the black lab who kept an eye on us while you were away.
We will be back to stay in the future and would have no hesitation in recommending Olive cottage, 10 out of 10 is not enough in my book.
Thank you so much Simon for this lovely review. It's very important for Adrian and I that our guests enjoy their stay and we are delighted that you had a relaxing holiday.
We would love to welcome you back in the future.
Inkie sends her love and is missing all the attention.

The village of Marseillette is close to Carcassonne in the southern Minervois region of the Languedoc. It sits between the Canal du Midi and the river Aude. A typical French village with a population of around 700, following alongside the Canal du Midi which is extensively used by hired boats & privately owned yachts and barges. It's a fabulous location for seeing the area or if you need your batteries recharging then you don't need to travel too far to see authentic French life. We have a wonderful Boulangerie, bar, hotel & hairdressers in the village.
The property is at the edge of the village and virtually surrounded by vineyards. The local industry is wine making!! Plenty of picturesque places to visit close by and historical sites. If you like walking, sight seeing, bird watching or wanting to just sun bathe then everything is here.
Trebes close by, offers all the necessary facilities such as; Grocers, petrol, supermarkets, chemist, newsagent, banks etc. All major stores and supermarkets are found in Trebes & Carcassonne. There is a mini supermarket in Capendu only 2 kms away open 6 days a week and sells most items. Marseillette is a great base for exploring the beautiful countryside and discovering new local wines. Cathar history, Beziers, Minerve, Caves / Grottos, Narbonne & the Mediterranean Sea, Spain are all close by.
Golf: Carcassonne has a beautiful 18 hole Par 71 - 5,758 metre golf course playable all year round with views of the Pyrenees and which is only a 20 minute drive away.
