The apartment has been recently refurbished and refurnished to a very high standard with a modern and bright style. The large and airy living/dining room opens onto a 10 m² terrace overlooking the Bay of Angels. 3 tastefully furnished double bedrooms, the third bedroom is a large sofa bed, with 2 bathrooms and a fully equipped separate kitchen with modern appliances. TV, video and DVD players also available and hifi. Free WiFi internet access. Private underground garage and cave. Lift.

Hi, I am Alexander Thijs, the property owner. Last summer 2009 I had an interview in the Gazette de la Promenade, the Newspaper of the Promenade des Anglais, where I had the opportunity to outline all the best things of Nice and the Promenade in particular. Here are the first phrases of the interview: “I fell in love with the Promenade for the rest of my live!” These are the words of successful dentist and owner of an apartment on the Promenade des Anglais Mr. Thijs (Dutch). He is successfully managing the seasonal rental of his apartment, while working fulltime as a dentist. His rental site and blog are visited by people all around the world and have set a new standard for holiday rental.

This was the 2nd time we have stayed here. The first time, 2 years ago, we were 3 retired couples and had found the 3rd bedroom more suitable for children/teenagers. This time we were 2 couples and were very pleased with the sleeping arrangements with a new bed in one of the main bedrooms. The mattresses were fine. Everything was fine in terms of equipment and fittings, although more dishes would be a plus. Having a dishwasher and washing machine were useful for those like us staying for 3 weeks. The view of the Med from the balcony is to die for even though the traffic can be very noisy at times. Although we were only on the 2nd floor, the lift was welcome at the end of a long day and for our heavy luggage. Buses to anywhere, Nice central and groceries were very close. Sandra, the apartment manager was very helpful and quick to respond whenever we needed her. Overall, very good value and we shall stay there again whenever we return to Nice .

A perfect stay in NIce

We enjoyed our stay in the apartment very much. When you wake up in the morning and have breakfast on the balcony looking directly at the Mediterranea Sea you get the perfect holiday feeling. The apartment gives you all the comfort you need. You can reach the centre of Nice walking (20'), by bike (Le Velo Blue) and taking the bus (stop in front of the apartment). You can reach the apartment in 15' (bus 98) from Nice Airport.

Excellent rental in Nice

We have been visiting Alexander's apartment now for 6 years and it is an ideal winter location. Nice has its own eco climate so daytimes can be nice and warm. His manager is very helpful and always ensures the apartment is very clean. Everything is there for self-catering and a variety of shops are nearby. Nice is full of interesting places to visit and is also an easy centre to go out visiting along the coast. In February it has a spectacular festival for 2 weeks. If you have nothing better to do you can watch the sea change colour or the world go by from the balcony. Many friends and relatives have come to stay with us in NIce and all have been very impressed with the apartment's facilities and location. Alexander is very friendly and helpful.

As Advertised, but The Devil is in the Details

Upon arrival for our three-night stay in this apartment, it appeared as advertised - a three-bedroom unit overlooking the Promenade Des Anglais and the Mediterranean. We enjoyed sitting out on the balcony watching the sun rise and sharing a bottle of wine in the evening watching the traffic and motorbike zip by. The beds were comfortable.

We did have reservations about the rental. Having used VRBO several times in the past, we were disappointed in the overall quality of the apartment. Upon arrival we couldn't turn on all the lights - some lamps needed to be plugged in or bulbs were burned out. The on-site (30 minutes away) property manager didn't spend a lot of time with us, and didn't show us the automatic shutters or laundry. The stove didn't work and our call to the on-site manager was not returned. There was only enough soap for one of the two bathrooms and we had to go out and purchase our own toilet paper after the first night. Although clean, the place looked dingy with scuff marks on the walls, drab wall covering, peeling paint, a rats-nest of wires behind the tv/wi-fi, old electrical fixtures, and tired, unmatched furniture. Although we had a small call (size of a Passat) we didn't even try to shoehorn the car into the corner parking space and ended up feeding the meters out front.

Once we made initial contact with the owner on VRBO we were shifted over to rental to complete the transactions (thereby bypassing VRBO's automatic review system). Note that most of the reviews were hand-picked by the owner, perhaps screening less favorable comments.

To be truthful, this was the only place on the Promenade in our price-range and bedroom requirements. If you're not fussy about the interior and are looking for a beautiful view close to downtown Nice, this place may be for you.

Excellent apartment

We recently stayed for 2 weeks in this excellent spacious apartment that is very well centrally located on the Promenade des Anglais. The three bedrooms are located at the back of the apartment and were very quiet. Wide awake, from the early morning I was sitting on the terrace to see the sun rising, whilst watching the changing colours of the sea. You have stunning views over the whole bay and this is so beautiful! You can see the waves of the sea arriving the beach. You have only to cross the Promenade to be on the beach and to take a fresh dip in the very clear water of the Med.

Two weeks are still too short for exploring all that Nice has to offer. Its cultural richness is overwhelming. We also made little excursions to Monaco, Villefranche and Eze. The owner sent us some touristy information by mail, which was very helpfull.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Nice and would highly recommend this apartment and we would love to stay here again soon.

An excellent choice.

We were very pleased with the location and size of this property and think that it was priced excellently..My only criticism was that the apartment was perhaps a bit 'tired',the bathroom and kitchen did need updating.We were at the end of the season so a few things needed replacing ie a patio chair broke whilst we were there.Overall an excellent choice but think the managing agent could have ben at bit more helpful.Also the garage was too small for our car so i think this should be made clear in the details.

Owner's Response: Everyone will agree that this spacious apartment has a great location. Recently we refurbished the bathrooms and kitchen to match its exclusivity. The terrace with stunning views of the Mediterranean is equipped with a new stylish garden set for 6 people. Our managing agent who meets our guests at the apartment is at our guests service to give you the best holiday possible. For the garage we added its dimensions in the advert to make clear that we don't recommend to use the garage for big cars such as an estate car / station wagon or cadillacs.

The apartment is located on the famous Promenade des Anglais with an uninterrupted view over the Bay of Angels with all its changing colours. Just a short way from the centre of town and the old town of Nice and of course 50 metres from the beach. There are bars, restaurants and shops near the apartment and the airport is just 10 mins away by bus or car. This really is the perfect location for enjoying the sites of Nice and the Riviera with Monaco, St Tropez, Cannes all a short drive away.

If you arrive by car or like to rent a car, we can offer you free of charge our private underground garage, which is inside the building and which can be reached by lift as well. As all garages in the centre of Nice are a luxury and a rarity, you will find out that they are always small; therefore we provide you the exact dimensions of our garage: its width is 249 cm, its length is 677 cm, but please note it might be difficult to access with a big car because the private gate is smaller (width 210 cm x height 185 cm).
