About Cathey M Bailey
I live in the mountains of WNC but I love the SC coast and especially the Charleston area. While our kids were young, we visited Pawley's Island, Kiawah, Florida resorts and Wild Dunes. As we began to think about owning a second home, we decided on Wild Dunes. Many more advantages for us, our friends & family than at Kiawah. Wonderful restaurants from old fashion seafood houses to very fine dining. Pool, golf, bike rentals, restaurants are just steps from our condo ... the beach is across the street and down a lovely lane. I love Wild Dunes and have updated our home there to insure our comfort and yours. We have had some pretty miserable nights at Wild Dunes in horrible beds and linens that don't fit. We won't do that to you!
Cathey M Bailey purchased this Condo in 1999
Why Cathey M Bailey chose Isle of Palms
Short walk to beach, golf, bike rental, spa, deli & restaurants. Near historic Sullivan's Island and Downtown Charleston with all the wonderful things to do there
What makes this Condo unique
We looked at and stayed at several Wild Dunes 2-bedroom condos before we bought. We wanted 'space' and we wanted one floor ... UNUSUAL here! We updated and LOVE IT! It's a great floor plan, has a nice garden/pool view, fully equipped kitchen, 'quality' king sized bed (unusual for condos in our complex)...very livable, attractive and convenient. Golf & bike rentals are just steps from our condo ... the Atlantic Ocean beach is across the street and down a lovely lane.

Nice condo, great location
Condo is within walking distance to the beach and the pool is right outside the living room and bedroom windows - very convenient. Quiet area with noise restrictions at night. There was some confusion with check-in, as the condo is privately owned and not rented by Wild Dunes Resort, so the security person at the gate gave us a temporary one-day pass and said there would be a green envelope in the condo with further info. No envelope in condo, so had to call condo owner, who called security, so we could get a pass to match the length of our stay. A large red bag with wrinkled sheets (clean?) , toilet paper, and paper towels mysteriously appeared at the front door the next morning with no explanation as to why. Were we supposed to change our sheets and put the “one-night dirty ones” in the bag to be washed and returned to us the following day? Would we be charged extra if we took the “clean?” sheets or paper products from the bag?? The people staying in the condo below us had two red bags outside of their door and also didn’t know what they were for. To add to the confusion, some condos had red bags and some had blue bags (private owner vs. resort owner?) Tried to ask a maid we saw toodleing around in the area, but she just kept saying that she doesn’t speak any English. Would have been nice if there had been an info packet in the condo explaining the lack of a green envelope and how to proceed from that point, as well as the reason for the red bag and what to do (or not do) with it. Condo was decorated nicely, but could definitely have used a better cleaning. Several areas had layers of dirt and dust. A small cologne bottle was left on the bedroom (vacuumed?) carpet, there were wrinkled towels left in the dryer, as well as a semi-wet one still in the washing machine from who knows how long ago. Some herb and spices were provided in the kitchen, which was greatly appreciated, but the salt and pepper shakers were totally empty. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would probably book again if the above issues were properly addressed.
Dear May Guest: Thank you for you thoughtful comments about your experience at my condo in Wild Dunes. Thank you for allowing me to respond.
Unfortunately: this “pass” confusion has happened a couple of times and the front gate has been notified. I have also learned that possibly using a GPS will direct a guest to the back gate where only a day pass is issued requiring a guest to be inconvenienced by returning to the main gate the next day for the correct pass.
RE: Green Envelope
The front gate has been notified that apparently a green packet is left in some condos. We provide a WD Resort ring binder with resort information as well as a white ring binder with restaurant and local activities that guests leave.
RE: Red & Blue bags.
Apparently one of the cleaning services mistakenly left a bag at my condo by mistake. These bags contain changeover sheets, towels, etc. and are dropped off for the housekeeping employs to come in and do their work. My housekeeper does not drop off any type of bag.
This is unacceptable, highly unusual and has been addressed with my housekeeper. We just replaced carpets June 5 and I certainly expect them to be vacuumed and everything to be clean!
We do not typically furnish coffee, food or products related to food preparation. Whatever spices, etc. are there were left by previous guests. Perhaps I should just have anything of that nature removed. We do provide plenty of dish and laundry detergent.
We provide body wash, but do not provide your favorite facial soap or shampoo/conditioner.
Worked great for 2 golfers. Thx.
Cozy, well appointed, 1 block to beach.
We enjoyed our month’s stay ! While the Condo was warm and cozy, it could use new carpets and a paint job!
Reading my mind! In the process now of choosing carpet and paint and hope to have it complete late May. Thanks so much for the nudge
Very nice property.
Comfortable, clean condo with everything you need for a great stay! Enjoyed every minute of the area.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We want to be comfortable when we're there and we certainly want our guests to enjoy and be comfy as well.
