About Anna Carera

I have been an interpreter and teacher for many years. I love having my guests in my home, I love entertaining them and showing them the beauty of my Country. I work with my husband and we organize winery visits and wine tasting, we offer cooking classes in our kitchen and we eat all together.

Anna Carera purchased this bed and breakfast in 1600

Why Anna Carera chose Montichiari

It has been in my Father's family for 500 years, I love it!

What makes this bed and breakfast unique

You can relax, you can enjoy the beauty of nature and stay under our loggia to drink a good wine while reading a book. We can take you to visit beautiful hidden treasures and also to wineries and wine tasting. If you feel like, I await you in my kitchen for a wonderful and fun cooking class!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Anna and Jacques (our hosts) were very hospitable and welcoming, always on hand to offer advice and assitance - where to visit, what to do etc. The room was immaculate as was the rest of the villa. We were treated to a wonderfull breakfast each morning and an evening meal of the most fantastic home made pasta. Anna is a very talented cook, and presented a variety of meals each day.

We look forward to our next visit - we have returned here for the past 10 years.

An Education In Italian Life and Culture

  • 5 of 5

Locating the best B & B fit requires that travelers fully understand what is important to them on their journey. My family visits countries to educate and broaden ourselves and gain greater insight into the people, their culture and lifestyle and this home more than met that goal. I have traveled internationally for 58 years and our visit with Anna and Jacques was still quite unique because it was a visit with them and their family, not simply a stay in their lovely villa. We were their only two nights but in that time we shared a wonderful meal in their home on Jacques' birthday where we exchanged information about our countries and our families. The next day we enjoyed a well orchestrated and completely delightful cooking class with Anna. Food is definitely a seed in the cultural learning process. And finally, that night we experienced one of the most memorable nights of our travels at a local winery, whose owner is a friend of our hosts, where we shared the food prepared in the cooking class and tasted five incredible wines. This is a highly intelligent and knowledgeable couple with an impressive understanding of the US who made us feel like a part of their family, not simply guests. And while this appears effortless for them, it is clear that they do a tremendous amount of work behind the scenes before and after their guests' arrival to make it happen. Their home is historic at every turn and easily lends itself to an environment of communication between two different worlds: old and new; North America and Europe. The stay in this villa is not just about a comfortable bed, a lovely garden, a breath-taking fresco or cherished air conditioning, it is about the generous hearts of an extremely gracious couple and their friends who opened their lives to us for two short days. I would encourage all to stay here, but do so only if you wish to open your hearts and minds to a cultural exchange. If you go with a mindset of anything less than that, you will miss something absolutely spectacular.

Owner's Response: Dear Candice, Bruce and Brenton, we have no words to thank you for coming here, sharing our daily life and becoming our friends. It has been such a privilege for us to get to know you, such a warm and educated family, a real pleasure to be with. I am very touched by your words; we try to do our best but in twenty years in business we do know it is not easy to satisfy everybody, but again when guests like you arrive it is just like being and entertaining our own family. Jacques and I wish to thank you for the kindness and warmth you showed us, it has been a real pleasure having you here and we hope to stay in touch and one day hopefully see you again, with our friendship Anna, Jacques and Alex 9th July 2017

Bed and Breakfast Review

  • 5 of 5

We are so very pleased with our stay at Anna and Jacques Bed and Breakfast in Montichiari. The place was perfectly located between Milan, Verona and Venice. Staying here gave us the perfect Italian getaway and Anna and Jacques were wonderful hosts. They made sure all of our needs were met and we really appreciated the warm welcome they gave us. The place was very clean it was really nice to know after very long day trips that we were going back to a wonderful place. There was an Internet connection in the grand room and breakfast was perfect. The town they are in has everything you might need to include a laundrymat, grocery store and several restuarants. There is also a very big shopping mall that is only a 15 minute car ride away. Additionally, the town is very safe and we had secure parking everynight and Jacques was very helpful with maps and information concerning our day trips. We stayed there with our two teenagers and they loved it. If you want to visit Milan, Verona and Venice and want to get a real taste of Italy then this is the place to stay. We cant wait to stay there again!

Our town is very quiet, yet close the all major art cities and the Italian lake District. Our home has all comforts and we also organize cooking classes in the kitchen with us. We eat with the guests and it is a lovely way of meeting our guests from all over the world. We are bilingual in French and Italian and speak English and Spanish. We are interpreters and Teachers and love chatting with our guests. We hope to hear from you very soon!
