About David and Wanda Wallace
WE FELL IN LOVE with St Lucia 15 years ago. Our dream was to create a beautiful accommodation in a lush tropical setting overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Nature's Paradise is our dream come true. WANDA: I was a professional dancer for many years and I traveled the world in that capacity. As the first woman White Belt in the US. I practiced Eagle Claw Kung Fu and taught Tai Chi. Exploring the Island and sampling its rich culinary culture are two of my passions.
Why David and Wanda Wallace chose Castries City
WE ARRANGE Rain-Forest tours & Volcano hot baths, recommend the best beaches for swimming & snorkeling; and we point you to trails where you can hike by yourself in the Rain-Forest. NATURE'S PARADISE IS set high on a hill with great views. Walking to the beach is about 15 mins. The famous La Bas Beach is on the north side of Marigot Bay. You access La Bas Beach by Captain Bravo's ferry, which runs 24/7. WE ENCOURAGE tasting and enjoying new foods. There are four great restaurants on Marigot Bay.

Amazing views, amazing hosts
We thoroughly enjoyed our week stay in Banana cottage at Nature's paradise. The clean, well appointed cottage had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. David and Wanda have created a beautiful property at the crest of the ridge that overlooks the south side of Marigot Bay. Nature's Paradise is a labor of love for them and it shows. We opted to enjoy the breakfast offered everyday it was available. Fresh local fruit, fresh "Wanda" bread and cheese with coffee were more than enough to get us going. It was a great opportunity to get to know our hosts and ask their advice on where to go and how to get there. The pool was amazing with a spectacular view of the Roseau Valley. A car was available to pick us up at Hewanorra and a rental was there when we arrived as requested. I highly recommend a jeep rental . The road to and from Marigot is windy and steep and it will just make things easier. Besides, there is an entire island for one to explore and enjoy. It was sad saying goodbye to David and Wanda and we would definitely stay with them again if we are ever in St. Lucia again.
Best Vacation Ever !
In my 54 years of life & travels, 2 trips stand out as the best ever. One was my 1st trip to Paris. The other was the 12 days my partner & I spent in St. Lucia in October 2008.
A cab took us from the airport to Marigot Bay, where David, our host, drove us up to our cottage at Nature’s Paradise. It is well-named. It is a gorgeous paradise full of luscious & exotic plants & flowers; more beautiful than any botanical garden I've ever seen, including the one in St. Lucia.
The next day we had our 1st of many lovely breakfasts w David & Wanda on a patio overlooking the sea & surrounded by flowering plants. Every breakfast included fresh bread, cheese, tropical fruits like starfruit & mango, & sometimes Wanda’s homemade banana bread. Later that day we snorkeled in the warm Caribbean from a beach very near Nature’s Paradise.
The 3rd day, David & Wanda took us on their wonderful Soufriere adventure tour. David told us all about the island & its history as we drove by banana plantations & through a fishing villages, etc. We saw a snake man on the road & and David let me stop to hold the boa constrictor. Then on we went to see St. Lucia’s volcano w steaming lava pits & a beautiful botanical garden with a gorgeous waterfall. We were taken to Dasheen for lunch, where the food rivals that of restaurants in Paris, & the view is unparalleled. Then we went to a natural hot springs in the woods where we donned our bathing suits in the changing hut & entered the hot pool. Ahhh….. Life doesn’t get better than this!
The following days included swimming, sailing, snorkeling, kayaking, exploring the island, hiking through a luscious forested bird sanctuary, & relaxing in the pool. Because I have a bad leg, we skipped the mountain-climbing tour of the Pitons. But we made time to relax on our patio overlooking the sea, eat at a fine & romantic restaurant, swim in our hosts' lovely waterfall-fed pool out under the stars at night, & do what came naturally in our private cottage.
One of our most fun & exciting adventures was zip-lining through the rain forest. The guides were wonderful & made us feel very secure on our adventure. All the people we met in St. Lucia were extremely sweet, friendly, & helpful, but our favorite people were our hosts, David & Wanda. They made sure we had everything we needed to have a wonderful time. They are also fun & interesting people to talk with. The whole trip was so full of adventure, romance, & relaxation!
Honeymoon in Paradise
My husband and I rented Banana Cottage for a week at the end of March, 2013. We rented a car at the airport and made our way to Nature's Paradise later than expected due to a delayed flight. We found David & Wanda in the main house and they immediately jumped into action making us feel welcome. As David helped us with luggage and toured us around the lush property, Wanda brought us a perfectly refreshing drink that hit the spot. After we settled in, David took us down the hill into Marigot Bay, showed us around, and had reserved a delightful dinner spot for us on the water. When we were finished, he picked us up and brought us back up to our cottage.
Every morning for breakfast, Wanda made fresh bread and served all guests a blend of tropical fruits and juices. We thoroughly enjoyed each fresh breakfast as well as conversations with the other guests. After breakfast on our first morning, we sat down with David and got the "lay of the land," literally. His vast knowledge of St. Lucia and its people was impressive and served us well as we enjoyed our week in paradise. At that point, we felt confident about venturing off and exploring.
David made any arrangements and/or reservations we needed for both day and night activities. Two of our favorite daytime excursions were (1) going with David on an eco-tour to the botanical gardens, mineral baths, and active vulcano; and (2) renting a staffed sailboat for the day to explore the island from the water. Most evenings, we went to a Marigot Bay restaurant where David had reserved a top notch table for us - all were exceptional!
We enjoyed the Nature's Paradise pool, and found it to be the quintessential sunset spot. Incidently, there is no bad view from the property.
If you are considering staying at Nature's Paradise, keep in mind that although you are truly part of Marigot Bay, you are up a steep, bumpy, windy road and you will end up traveling that road many, many times. As mentioned, the property is perched beautifully for views of the bay and ocean, and we quickly learned to navigate around all of St. Lucia's steep, bumpy, windy roads - it became part of the island's charm for us.
We wholeheartedly enjoyed our stay at Nature's Paradise, and hope to return for a second honeymoon sometime. David and Wanda are exceptional hosts with unlimited knowledge and connections to make visiting St. Lucia a very memorable experience.
NATURE’S PARADISE is exactly as portrayed on David’s excellent website. Better even. We stayed in a room to one side of the main house – both bungalows having been booked well ahead. Our room was fabulous, with its own bit of balcony overlooking the Caribbean, a tiny kitchen area, and an en-suite. With windows on 2 sides, and the option of leaving the en-suite door open, we could enjoy a cooling breeze day & night. The gardens & pool area are beautiful, again with wonderful views up & down the coast. A hire-car (4x4) is a must. Overall, we were very happy with our stay & will return. That David & Wanda are excellent hosts is the icing on the cake.
We Loved It!!!
We have returned from a 12-day holiday at Nature’s Paradise. The lovely memories of our holiday in Banana Cottage is still fresh in our minds.
Banana Cottage was absolutely great! It has everything you need in the kitchen, including oven, fridge/freezer and a blender. The shower room is a nice size (with built-in hairdryer) and the 4-Poster bed was very comfortable. The balcony was the best thing; the view was lovely and the gardens that Wanda has created are stunning – colour, colour, colour! The other wonderful thing to watch on your balcony – apart from the sea view – are the gorgeous little Humming Birds that feed all day on the nectar of the beautiful purple flowers that entwine themselves around the side of the balcony. Absolutely fantastic! I really loved it!
The cottages are self-catering and you could make your own breakfast, however the Tropical Breakfast gathering is not only delicious but also a fantastic opportunity to find out about things to do. David is passionate about St Lucia and a wealth of knowledge, so he can fill you in on anything you want to know about St Lucia and any activities you might be interested in.
We made great use of the swimming pool at Nature’s Paradise. There’s a fantastic view wherever you look. Whenever we got back from a day of exploring, we would bring a drink to the pool area and watch the sunset. Again, fabulous!
The weather was hot and sunny most of the time but you never feel uncomfortable because there’s usually a nice breeze to cool you down. There were few short bursts of rain, but they didn’t last very long at all.
David advised us to book a Jeep and kindly arranged it all in advance. We were very pleased about that as some of the roads, particularly the one leading up to Nature’s Paradise and some of those leading to beaches off the main road, are real bone-shakers! On these we put the Vitara into 4-wheel drive mode which made a lot of difference. It’s easy to find your way around the island, however the roads are very windy.
We thoroughly recommend Nature’s Paradise. We felt very comfortable and happy there. Wanda and David were great hosts and we can definitely see ourselves going back there in the future.
A Wonderful Experience in St Lucia.
What a wonderful trip!! The island is simply beautiful, its people, views and food - unforgettable. The best experience, however, was Nature's Paradise. The place, a small B&B, is beautifully located above Marigot Bay. The views from the cottages, decks and the pool are amazing. Our hosts, Wanda and David woke us up every day with wonderful breakfast and good music. They were able to suggest a place to see or a thing to do every day. Both of them know the island very well and did the activities or trips themselves. Also, they have all the resources and know a lot of local people to make the vacation very exciting. This was the most romantic and exciting vacation my husband and I have ever taken. We loved it!
MARIGOT BAY HAS A TERRIFIC BEACH. Palm-Villa and the Cottages are set high on a hill for great views. The famous La Bas Beach is on the north side of the Bay, and there are no cars or roads. You go by ferry which runs 24/7. The boat ride is about 2 minutes and is fun. There are 4 good restaurants and 2 great restaurants on the bay.
We encourage activity! We have some of the best Scuba Diving in the Caribbean and great Snorkeling; There are water sports on Marigot Bay. Go hiking in the Rain Forest; Horseback Riding on the beach; Restaurants with great food in lovely settings; Sightseeing by car; Boating galore; Swimming in the warm Caribbean Sea; Bird-watching, see the rare St Lucian Parrot etc, etc. There is so much to do.
Or you can do nothing at all. At Nature's Paradise there is a beautiful pool with a wood deck and comfortable lounges. Lay back, enjoy the sun and read a book.
We will greet you on arrival.
