WATERFRONT CONDO ON THE HARBOUR IN DOWNTOWN VICTORIA

This trendy downtown condo at Mermaid Wharf has an up-market feel which is contemporary yet warm and cozy. It is an open-plan studio style with bedroom alcove containing a queen size bed. The sofa is a custom-made, convertible double bed of commercial grade ensuring comfort. There is a full, well-equipped kitchen, gas fireplace, wall-mounted flat screen 40” TV, a computer with high-speed internet plus free WiFi. Taking care of laundry while you're travelling is easy here with the in-suite washer/dryer.

This place is kept in immaculate condition, attested to in the many reviews. The bedding is luxe, top quality 100% cotton in keeping with a high standard. The artwork is local, original and interesting.

The location is great - on the harbour, close to the downtown area and an easy walk to many of our attractions and excellent restaurants. The downtown location encompasses not only the excitement and convenience of being close in, but also the inevitable noise and bustle of an urban environment.

The living room views are of paddlers, rowers and the life that generally makes up the harbour, plus glorious sunsets over the water. Catch stunning views of the harbour and waterways from the rooftop patio which also has BBQ facilities.

There is convenient kayak hire at our own wharf, also kayak/canoe hire is available a block away at Ocean River Sports. Bike rentals available two blocks away.

The dock is also a stop for the little harbour ferries – pick them up at many spots along the seawalks around the harbour. The condo is a short walk from the inner harbour, Empress Hotel, museums and Legislative Buildings. Chinatown with its restaurants and markets is two minutes away. Golf? Lots...from spectacular Bear Mountain designed by Jack and Steve Nicklaus, to smaller, inexpensive courses and many in-between. Victoria is extremely cyclist-friendly with many dedicated lanes - for venturing out-of-town or for more of a workout, check out the Galloping Goose trails which are accessed near the condo.

Everything is here for a wonderful and affordable vacation.

NOTES: There is a currency converter at the top of the rates page, right hand side, it's very small so you have to really look for it.

ALSO PLEASE NOTE that VRBO now charges a service fee payable by guests on each booking. I have always endeavoured to keep my rates affordable and in answer to this new fee, I am removing the cleaning fee which more than offsets the service fee. My rate is all-inclusive - secure underground parking, internet (there is also a computer), WiFi, all taxes and the cleaning fee.

Beautiful view, great location

  • 5 of 5

Great location on the water in chinatown. Walking distance from everything downtown. Seven (or more) breweries within a 20 minute walk and for destinations farther, bike rentals are availible at sports rent around the corner. Maureen was very thorough and knowledgeable about the area and events. Condo was well equipped and extremely clean, Maureen went through it with us when we arrived to make sure we wouldn't have any issues or questions. Would definitly recommend to others.

Great condo in convenient location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 4 nights and it was great! The location was great... walking distance to harbourfront and many great restaurants. The condo was clean and comfortable and had all the necessary amenities. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend this condo to family and friends.

Great location. Just big enough for the 2 of us.

  • 4 of 5

The only deterrent was the late night noise from the brewpub across the street and the early morning trash collection trucks. Well appointed.

Owner's Response: The Canoe brewpub across the street has music on Thursday - Saturday nights and often the music can either not be heard at all or only slightly, but sometimes departing patrons make some noise as they leave. Folks often tell me the disturbance is only occasional and not the rule, some use the earplugs provided and/or the Dyson fan creates white noise. And yes indeed, we do wish trash collection occurred in the afternoon but any city hotel I have been to seems to have early collection AND music and trucks are all part of the downtown environment and unavoidable. Agreed, it IS a great location and visitors choose either the vibrance/convenience of being downtown or a peaceful country setting, whatever works best for them.

Clean and comfortable condo.

  • 3 of 5

Too noisy. Right across from busy brewpub with outdoor patio and live music. Early garbage, recycle and food delivery trucks. Nightclub. No AC so needed to keep windows open a bit. Blinds were not room darkening. Sofa bed is uncomfortable.

Owner's Response: Ohmygosh, this seems to have come out of nowhere. I am looking at the text these guests sent me the day after check-in and they said “Everything is great!” Definitely noise can be a factor when choosing accommodation in a city centre. In most cities around the world, trash pick-up and truck deliveries are early morning in my experience, that is fairly standard practice and basically unavoidable. Canoe is across the street, that is obvious from my website ad which even contains a photo of the brewpub. It is a higher end brewpub/restaurant that does have a patio which is wonderful on a sunny day. It has live music three nights a week – that music is often barely audible, depending on who the band is, but patrons leaving can occasionally be noisy. There is no nightclub anywhere in the vicinity. So when booking accommodation, care needs to be taken regarding location. Truthfully, 99% of my guests have raved about the location, and in all, only a handful of guests have mentioned any noise. People who might be bothered by any noise might be better off away from the main part of the city or in the outskirts. In over 6 ½ years I have had many exuberant reviews both online and in my guest book. This little business is more than providing accommodation for a fee – it feels so darned good when folks enjoy their stay and enjoy Victoria. When I travel the two priorities for me in booking accommodation is price point and cleanliness. Last summer I found it difficult to find hotels or vacation rentals under $200/day. This condo’s high season rate is $135/day. This includes everything – parking, internet, computer if you need it, washer/dryer, taxes, good quality coffee both ground and beans, cream if you want your coffee before you can shop. This suite is kept in immaculate condition (do you ever check behind the fridge/stove where you stay?). There are so many positives that unfortunately this review didn’t mention.

We highly recommend this rental property

  • 5 of 5

This property was exactly as it was advertised. The photos, description and guest reviews accurately represented the rental . It was immaculate and it had a fabulous downtown/harbor location from which you could walk anywhere you wanted to go. The suite was well equipped with modern appliances, kitchen staples and all the necessary culinary tools for preparing meals. The home Decor was visually appealing, tasteful and modern which made for a pleasant vibe. The bed had a high quality comfortable mattress snd luxurious linens. The quiet and efficient Dyson fan helped keep the space pleasant for sleeping. We enjoyed watching the action in the harbour while relaxing in the living room space with the warm sea breeze sifting in through the deck door that we were able to leave open while we were in the suite. Maureen was an excellent hostess! She met us in front of the building and we followed her into the underground parkade where we parked our rental car. Upstairs in the suite she showed us the location of all the suite amenities and how everything worked. She took the time to inquire about our interests then offered applicable suggestions for sites , activities and Restaurants that we might enjoy. She provided her cell phone number should we require any assistance . She replied quickly to the text we sent with an inquiry. We had a fabulous stay in Maureen's rental suite and plan to return to stay there on our next trip to beautiful Victoria. We highly recommend this property.

ALSO PLEASE NOTE that VRBO has recently implemented a service fee payable by guests on each booking. I have always endeavoured to keep my rates affordable and in answer to this new fee, I am removing the cleaning fee - a significant benefit as it is more than the service fee on a four-night booking so the result is an overall reduction in the daily rate. My rate is all-inclusive - secure underground parking, internet (there is also a computer), WiFi, all taxes and the cleaning fee.

Fees include two persons; each additional person is $20/day
