Perfect Cabin with Great Views

  • 5 of 5

I was hesitant to book this place because payment is done outside of the HomeAway service. The reviews do not lie, this place is a great value. I am very glad that we decided to stay at the Hilltop Hideaway! Very comfy accommodations with a great view of the mountains. The cabin is very clean with all of the amenities of home.

Do not follow the default path that Google Maps and Waze use. After you turn onto Firehouse Road, turn left onto Brandon Lane at the top of the hill before you pass the Otto Volunteer Fire Department.

Beautiful mountain views. Cabin was nice and perfect for 4-5 people.

Driveway up there is single lane at best. We saw plenty of deer around. Cabin was nice for 5 people and well stocked with necessities. Owners were good to work with and everything was as they described.

Excellent Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I stayed here for just one night - a last minute getaway. The cabin was immaculate! Everything was there that we needed, even condiments in the fridge. Nice secluded cabin, so we spent a lot of time out on the porch. The hummingbirds put on a great show for us!! They buzzed by us on the porch and we had a great time watching them. We saw one deer as we were coming down the driveway.

We went to the grocery store upon arrival, only about 10 minutes away. We cooked dinner, breakfast and lunch in the cabin. It was so cozy, once we got there, we didn't want to go back out. Grill was on the back porch, so we grilled steaks and ribs. We didn't even go upstairs, other than to look and see what was there. The cabin would sleep two upstairs in twin beds, and has a pull out couch in the living room. Master bedroom has a queen sized bed.

Trinda is super easy to work with and very helpful. Communication was great! We will definitely stay here again. Thanks for a great weekend getaway!!

Beautiful Mountain Views!

  • 5 of 5

What an awesome view from this beautiful cabin! My husband and I and our two boys 13 & 11, loved everything about this cabin. First, it was very clean and had everything we needed. The rooms were spacious and the bathrooms were big. The kitchen had everything you needed for cooking. We were able to make many meals at the cabin and also used the grill. Nice washer and dryer, it was really helpful to have, especially when traveling with kids. The cabin was close to town, which had grocery stores and lots of restaurants. Great location, we were able to go gem mining, waterfall exploring, train riding and was also close enough to the Smoky Mountains and Gatlinburg. The climb up the driveway to the cabin was a little steep, but we managed ok with our van. Would definitely stay here again! The owner was very nice and responded very quickly. If you go, you must drive to the top of Wayah is breathtaking!

This was my first experience booking with VRBO. I truly could not believe how perfect it was for my mother, 2 sons (10 & 7), and myself.

The size & price was perfect for the 4 of us. VERY CLEAN. It can sleep 6 but may get a little snug. We saw deer & rabbits almost every day. The air conditioner worked very well (it was hotter than usual for that area). It had 2 decent sized bedrooms. There was a comfortable queen bed & sofa pull-out downstairs & 2 twin beds up stairs. I always bring my floor fan everywhere I go, so it drowned out the sound from the TV(DirectTV) in the adjacent den. There is also a TV in the upstairs bedroom, but we never turned it on. It had 2 huge bathrooms. The water pressure was really strong & very hot. The den/dining area was adequate size for the four of us. We spent most of our time when we were there on the front porch admiring the awesome view, the hummingbird, playing games, reading, & looking at the stars. The cabin was stocked with plenty of towels, blankets, & pillows. You really only need to bring your clothes & personal items. There is so much to do. Waterfalls, hikes, gem mining (Mason's Sapphire Mine was very good), swimming holes, etc... "Cashier's Sliding Rocks" is PERFECT for all ages. We went twice this week. "Bust your Butt Falls is great for older teens (has a 25 ft cliff jump). Must see Wayah Bald-AMAZING! (See Tripadvisor for Franklin, NC). Fly fishing (Gordon w/ Turning Stones was awesome-See Tripadvisor ). Recommend "Jaxon Downtown" for pizza in Franklin & "Wicked Pig" in Clayton (the best brisket!!!) for restaurants. The creamery is great for fresh butter & ice cream made right there. Trinda is super nice!

The CONS listed are not a big deal for us, but maybe for others.

The kitchen was very small. We were so tired from our daily excursion that we ate sandwiches most nights. There is not any extra cabinet space. No dishwasher. There is no WIFI or if there was, it wasn't working. I didn't call & ask Trinda b/c otherwise my son would stay on his tablet playing games the entire week so it was actually a good thing. (No fault of owner) no cell phone service for Sprint. I was basically off the grid all week. I actually liked it. My mom has Verizon & it worked fine. There is a landline inside with free local calls ICOE. Not much closet space downstairs(has dresser). Not sure about upstairs.

Definitely will be going back!!!!
