About Kyle Winslow

We lived in the older home on the property for four years before we built the new house and carriage house. The gardens were finished in 2002. Many of the plants are from the Endolyne Garden Club plant exchange each year. There are Apple, Quince, Fig, and a few Plum trees. The other edibles include huckleberries, sage, rosemary, parsley, and lovage. In the vegetable garden we usually grow blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, artichokes, asparagus, rhubarb, beans, cucumbers, carrots, greens, and many, many tomatoes. There are about 30 pots of annuals around the property. There is a greenhouse and chickens as well. You are more than welcome to walk through the vegetable garden and grab a ripe tomato in season.

Kyle Winslow purchased this cottage in 1997

Why Kyle Winslow chose Southwest

We live here in West Seattle because it has wonderful views and sunsets, and is not pretentious. Lately it has become very hip and trendy with great restaurants and wonderful bike trails. Many many families live in this area, and the community has a nice friendly feel.

What makes this cottage unique

Better than downtown Seattle:

Way More Quiet.

Closer to the airport using a car.

Nice Parking.

Great walking trails along the water.

More fun wildlife - ( our property has a backyard wildlife sanctuary designation) Coyotes, Raccoons, Grey Herons, Eagles, River Otters, Harbor Seals, and Whales and Daul Porpose every once and a while.

This is a fantastic property in a great location! We enjoyed the bikes very much! Just down the street and around the corner is a great view of the downtown area. The property is very nice and peaceful! Would highly recommend staying here!

Owner's Response: We are so happy you had a nice stay, and also glad you used the bikes to see some of what West Seattle has to offer. The winters views here at the Carriage house are actually better with no leaves on the trees! Come back in the off season anytime. Kyle and Michael

This is a very comfortable, well-appointed place to stay. Kyle and Michael have thought of everything and are very responsive. This carriage house is clean, bright, quiet and comfortable. Within walking distance of Lincoln Park. Highly recommended. We'll be back!

Wonderful and clean little getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our two nights here. Had everything we needed and was very clean (which is a big deal to my wife!). Close to some great parks, restaurants, and bakeries. One small complaint was that the bedroom area needed thicker blinds as you could honestly see right through them. Neighbor's garage was out the window, so no peeping Toms, but still felt weird. Totally worth it though, not even close to a big enough issue to dock a star. Was grateful for the Starbucks Coffee that was provided. Everything nice, highly recommend. Will hopefully return one day.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review. We actually have researched what one can see from the neighbor's garage and entry way. The curtains let light in from the outside, but even with the lights on you cannot see inside the bedroom area. In the summer, the trees make an even better boarder. We would love to have you back and we can put a darker curtain for your stay if needed. Thanks again for the feedback. It is very valuable as you might not be the only one who wants the same. Hideaway by the water

  • 5 of 5

This was a very nice place tucked away in West Seattle, and very quiet its a good place to get away from the city although for me I think if you have never been to Seattle before stay somewhere closer to the city so you can be in the mix for the first time. If you have been here before this is a perfect place to stay because its close enough to not feel completely isolated but far enough to feel the relaxed vibe here, and the owners are great to work with very flexible and communicative........will be back.

Comfy and cozy

  • 5 of 5

We so enjoyed our time in the carriage house. We arrived on Christmas Day and it was the third white Christmas in 100 years in Seattle. The carriage house was warm and comfy. We thoroughly enjoyed all six nights we stayed. The yard around the cottage is beautiful We want to come back and see it in the summer.

Relax & Regroup in West Seattle Heaven

  • 5 of 5

The Carriage House is the perfect place for anyone wanting to take in all West Seattle has to offer! It is also very easy to access the Seattle water taxi to get to the Market and downtown Seattle, without fighting the traffic on the West Seattle Bridge and I-5. Nothing has been left out by Kyle and Michael, to make this a paradise away from home. My husband and I hated to leave, and cannot wait to return in the near future!
