Clean or replace carpet,

Bar noise is too bad to sleep up to the minute of closing,

Appliances need better quality,

TOO many steps,

People were great,

Location was great,

Cafe manager was suprised at room rate.

Fantastic Location

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at this property and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location was fantastic. The suite was not fancy but had all the necessary amenities. We loved the diner downstairs. It was the perfect place for our San Francisco vacation.

Exactly as described, this is "a room" in a perfect location.

  • 4 of 5

Many thanks to hosts Ellie and Lance for accommodating our group of five (a couple, one single, and two teens). When I needed something, I sent an email and they were quick to respond. For their sincere interest in us getting everything we needed, Ellie and Lance get 4+ stars.

The room, however, is unconventional, tired, lacks coordinating decor and gets only 3-stars. The room does not make a good first impression. We stayed a week and not until day three did we conclude that we made the right decision staying there. Some features "under construction" include the common hallway carpeting that is worn out and dirty and a bar sink that is being installed. The air conditioning was also being repaired. (When I called about a/c, hosts promptly delivered two fans and we were fine since the weather was cool.) There is no thermostat, just space heater and fan. The curtain in the photo covers interior-weight French doors that lead to the common hallway. The main windows have drapes and sheers; the sheers are hung from a string. These oddities did not make a good first impression. The space was clean and the shower/bathroom were fine.

By day three, we decided that we were comfortable, safe, and enjoyed being within walking distance of the Wharf, the Marina, North Beach, Russian Hill, Chinatown, and more. Cable Cars, the Buena Vista, Ghirardelli Square, and trolley cars were steps away. Staying at Park View also saved us a lot of money. Would I stay there again? Yes, after confirming that the carpet had been replaced and the sink and a/c installed.

Very disapointed

  • 1 of 5

Lance is very easy going and pleasent to deal with. The property is close to fishermans wharf but the room itself is in need of a complete major upgrade. The carpets are old and smelly, the doors drag on the carpets and are difficult to open. There are extension cords everywhere, you can hear normal conversation from the street below and the doors and stairway up from street level give you a creepy feeling. We had booked a 3 night stay but only stayed 1 night, we relocated to the holiday Inn across the street. Just as convenient, same price per night and much better. We felt very mislead by the description and photos in this add.

Great location, other than that, I wouldn't recommend it.

  • 2 of 5

The location was perfect. The actual room was just weird. It was clearly a space never meant for living in. Many of the lights didn't work, hooks in the ceiling, for nobody knows what. There are some dishes, but you have to wash them in the bathroom sink. The only soap provided for hand washing was dish soap. Decent towels provided, but no wash cloths that we could find. There is a shared lounge area, but it appeared people were sleeping there. It was just odd. For a place to just put your suitcase and sleep, it's fine, but I wouldn't stay there if you want anything more than that.

Car: not necessary

Via Plane: You can take the BART from the airport to the Embarcadero stop in downtown SF. when you get up to the street level there is a an old fashioned street car called the 'F Line', take this towards fisherman's wharf (aka toward the water), you will need $2 CASH for each passenger (they don't give change) you will take it to the end just past fisherman's wharf, it is the last stop, so they will make you exit the street car..so just wait til they tell you to get off. At this point you are exactly 1 block away.. just at the exact opposite corner of the block. walk left off the street car, then right at the intersection. You will see a tiny park, walk across the park and you are home.

Via CAR: If you are driving during the day, or during rush hour, you want to avoid downtown.

OPTION 1: Follow Hwy 1 exits as you come in to the city, take Van Ness street all the way just 1 block before it ends at the water (this is North Point Ave.), turn right and go 4 blocks and you are at Columbus Ave. Start looking for parking..

OPTION 2: you can take the first exit as you come across the Bay Bridge, take a right and head toward the water you just drove over. you will get to Embarcadero, which runs along the water. Take a left so the water is on your right and follow Embarcadero all the way around until you get to North Point (just before Firsherman's Wharf/Pier 39), take a left and go down 7 blocks to Columbus Ave, and you are home. Start looking for parking.

PARKING: We recommend a garage, there are 3 garages within a block of your home.
