great area, great back patio area.. just great!

  • 5 of 5

my bf and I stayed over halloween, and LOVED this place. will definitely try to stay here again when visiting NOLA. The owners (Renee and Fred) were so kind and so accommodating.

The dogs were awesome, wish we would have seen more of them! :) we missed our dogs back home and would have shared our quarters with their pups! Lol

Most importantly.. this place was CLEAN. VERY CLEAN.

great area, right by city park and a bunch of good restaurants/cafes/grocery/etc. walking distance to all of the above!

This is my fav area of NOLA. Much better than staying in the busy french quarter or downtown. you are not but maybe 5 min from there, but with the REAL city charm.

Thanks for everything! Cant say enough great things!

Wonderful Studio, Great Owners

  • 5 of 5

This was quiet location. It was very close to the restaurants on Esplanade. Keeps you close to but not in the downtown mix (about 2 miles away). You can easily Uber/Lyft, drive or ride a bike downtown (owners have bicycles). I had a great time. Fred and Renee were great hosts and very helpful. I will stay here again when I make it back to New Orleans.

Thanks guys!!

Thoughtful amenities in cozy studio near parks and transit

  • 5 of 5

We would stay here again. Fred and Renee provide a wonderful retreat for visitors. Location is superb: we took the 91 bus and the Canal streetcar into town, and explored nearby City Park on foot and bike. It was nice to be near but not in the French Quarter. Restaurants and neighborhood grocery stores are within .2 mile. We loved staying here.

New Orleans Cabana Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed our stay in New Orleans. Cabana was comfortable, right size for three people. Cooked shrimp etouffee on the grill. Enjoyed the deck. Vern and Sadie visited a couple of times on the deck. Nearby markets were useful. Borrowed bikes for a day. City park is nearby and has a lot to do. Street car stop nearby at park. Esplanade bus stop at end of street.

A Great Hideaway Convenient to All

  • 5 of 5

This studio "cabana" (as the owners call it) is a great place to escape to while still being conveniently located to everything. My wife and I stayed for a long weekend, Friday through Monday, accompanied by both our dogs (50 and 60 lbs). We frequently look to take them along on trips, knowing it limits our options and often increases the cost, but this rental is really the jackpot of all.

The neighborhood feels safe, has plenty of charm, and a lot within walking distance to include restaurants, St Louis Cemetary #3, St John Bayou, and the wonderful City Park just over a quarter mile away. We frequently strolled the neighborhood and Esplanade Ave with the dogs, and I enjoyed a run each morning to the park with them. Restaurants in the area are wonderful, and the park itself has numerous attractions. Still, the French Quarter and Garden District are hardly a 10-15 minute drive, while Metairie and other suburbs with "typical" shopping are about the same distance west. We ventured every direction and never seemed to find the rental's location an inconvenience.

The bed is extremely comfortable (ours at home seems subpar now). The shower is wonderful with a rain showerhead and pebble floor (something else I now want). The Cabana has everything you need for a short stay. If traveling with dogs, do know that grass space is extremely limited, but again, neighborhood is plenty friendly and safe so just be a good pet owner and clean up.

The owners are friendly and helpful before, during and after as needed, but not in the least bit intrusive if you're about privacy, and their dogs couldn't be any more friendly (to people and other dogs!).

We really did have a great time and will definitely look here again for future NOLA trips. Thanks for all!

Getting around New Orleans by streetcar is a great way to see the city. There are three different lines: St. Charles, Canal Street, and the Riverfront, each of which originates downtown but takes you different parts of the city.

The new Canal Streetcar takes thousands of locals and tourists to work and play each day as it travels the five-and-a-half mile route from the French Market, along Canal Street through the Central Business District of New Orleans and into the Mid-City area. The line ends at City Park Avenue and the historic city cemeteries.

A 5 minute walk from your apartment is the North Carrollton Avenue Streetcar line.

A spur line along North Carrollton Avenue connects Canal Street to City Park at Beauregard Circle, where riders can enjoy a 1500-acre urban Eden filled with centuries-old oak trees, an elegant botanical garden, a charming storybook village, and a host of family activities.
