Good property with a nice view

  • 4 of 5

We rented this house as one of two houses for a family reunion. It was a good house with a lovely view. The pricing was extremely fair and the owner was very easy to work with (and very responsive!)

We appreciated how close this house was to the lake rec 1, and it had lovely sleeping arrangements. The three stories of rooms made it very easy for three families to share without stepping all over each other.

We happened to be there during an incredible heat wave - the basement stayed cool throughout but the upstairs rooms were so warm we ended up buying a few fans in town.

The deck areas are nice to sit out on and look at the lake. The kitchen supplies were a little sparse and the house could use a bit of TLC on the outside.

That said, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay in the house again, but hopefully not during another heat wave!

Snowy Holiday

  • 4 of 5

Overall, it was a great place. We got up there on Christmas Day with lots of snow. Being a holiday we had to wait a bit for someone to show up at the gate but a security guard came by. It took a little while for him to verify we were supposed to be there, but he finally got our pass and we got in. Because it was Christmas we cooked a big dinner. A little sparse on the serving dishes and no wine glasses, but we made it work. The only problem we had was the hose was frozen on the hot tub. A handy man came out and tried to fix it but wasn't able to. Marc was very responsive when I texted him, which I really appreciated. And it was a bummer to have to pay an additional $70 for the Country Club but during winter there wasn't access to anything. However, it was a wonderful vacation.

Great House

  • 4 of 5

I booked this house for the 2 of us for a quick anniversary trip. The description of the home was nice, so I didn't really mind paying the few extra bucks for the Country Club and boat fees. When we arrived, the house was fabulously large, 3 full stories with separate living spaces with the kitchen on the entry level. It was updated with nice decor, and the bed was amazingly comfortable! Can't wait to return with all the kids and use the whole house.

Spacious

  • 4 of 5

The house doesn't look that impressive from the outside but the inside is pretty nice. The layout of this house was perfect for 2 families. A master bedroom with King + small bedroom with queen was upstairs that is good for a family with kids. A small bedroom on the main level and a separate area on the bottom floor. Doors could be closed for the stairways if you have small children. It was super hot when we were there in july so we were a little unprepared for that. The upstairs was a bit uncomfortable but once we knew to keep the blinds closed and dark, it helped a lot. The bottom level remained cool and nice throughout though. The hot tub was perfect and everything was in order. Make sure to bring some games/dvds since we didn't realize there wouldn't be any cable/wifi (our mistake) and there is poor 3g service in the area. It is walkable to Rec 1 but a bit of a trek uphill to come back. The outdoor bbq was nice though.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed the house and sorry that you were there during the heat wave! It rarely gets over 90 degrees up there so normally the house doesn't get too hot. Come back soon!

Great Labor Day Weekend at Almanor!

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our time in this house at Almanor. The lake area is just as beautiful as Tahoe with out the crowds. We found the home VERY clean and updated on the inside with new paint, carpet and cabinets. Rooms were comfortable with enough space for 8 guests (4 adults and 4 kids) to not feel overcrowded. The exterior of the home is still a bit rustic. The location is great for getting around the LACC area. Very close to Rec 1 with its beach, tennis courts, basketball courts and pickleball courts. The backyard is mostly trees (which might block the view of the lake one day) and the kids had fun running through them on their "adventures." We felt the was pricing was very fair and the owner was extremely easy to work with.

Very clean, remodeled, spacious

  • 5 of 5

When we opened the door, we saw the beautiful lake straight ahead. The large master room is upstairs and you can leave your blinds open at night to sleep with the view of the stars-- very private. Also, we saw deer with a family walking around the neighborhood. You can have two families stay there, they both floors have their own entrance. The owner is very friendly and a quick to respond to your questions.

In the summer time, they told us that they have a bands play in the rec area on Sunday nights.

There is so much to do in this neighborhood or if you want to have a relaxing gateway, this is the place to be. I highly recommend this place!
