About Rennie Johnson

After spending a couple of years seriously looking for the perfect cottage, we finally found it. John and I were looking for a peaceful place that could fulfill our long list of 'must haves'. When we found this place, we knew this was it. The lake has been the perfect getaway from reality for us. Landlocked lake, calm waters, privacy, beautiful waterfront, nearby town with all the amenities. It was love at first sight for us. This cottage has been a great place to bring our families together and create memorable memories while enjoying beautiful nature on a pristine lake. We look forward to hosting you so that you may as well enjoy this natural beauty and create your own lifetime family memories.

Rennie Johnson purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Rennie Johnson chose Algonquin Park

Having travelled Hwy 400 for many years, we knew we did not want to sit in traffic jams to go up north. Just over 2 hours northeast of Toronto, Haliburton Highlands offers beautiful scenery, minimal traffic and several different routes so that you are never stuck in traffic. The drive up is part of our vacation experience.

What makes this cottage unique

Having rented cottages ourselves over the years, we created a list of what we did not want in a cottage. What we did want was a cottage with good year round access, steps from the parking area to the cottage and a gentle slope to the water. Privacy and beautiful waterfront was a must have for us. Clear clean water for swimming with no weeds. As a bonus, we found beautiful hiking and biking trails and have found some wonderful neighbours.

Stormy Lake? More like Sunny Lake!

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed a sunny, relaxing week at this cottage. The lake was clear and warm and the upper deck is nothing short of spectacular. The cottage is very well equipped and easily accessible to Haliburton for shopping. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds very comfortable. We were thankful for the many ceiling fans throughout as we had a couple of humid nights. The two Weber barbecues (one in the screened in porch) and the additional half bathroom were a nice touch as well. Overall, we had a very memorable time at your cottage! Thanks again.

Terrific Winter Getaway

  • 4 of 5

Went to Stormy Lake for a 4 night get away as a family with two young adult daughters. Throughout the process the owner was responsive to emails and requests for further information. Very detailed information regarding check in process and everything went smoothly. Place was very clean and spacious with wonderful windows looking on to the lake. We enjoyed skiing at Sir Sams, snow shoeing and cross country skiing. Very nice kitchen facility to make meals, with a great supply of ingredients. Everything you need to cook is here. A bit tricky with the ice on the driveway but plenty of sand around to help. Thanks for a nice retreat. This would be a great place to come in the summer.

Mostly, stormy week at Stormy Lake was lovely

  • 5 of 5

We rented this comfortable cottage at Stormy Lake to be close to The Haliburton School for Arts for a one week course. Even though the weather was grey and stormy for all but one day, the lake was warm and inviting for swimming every day. The Cottage is spacious, clean and fully equipped with absolutely anything one would require for cooking and playing. We also enjoyed the 2 person kayak and most especially loved watching the family of loons, 2 adults and 2 chicks who were fearless in coming right up to me while I was swimming or kayaking. I would highly recommend this lovely, quiet and peaceful cottage location to anyone with or without children.

This cottage certainly lives up to it's description, and the setting is beautiful.

  • 5 of 5

We spent a short break ( 3 nights ) at the cottage and greatly enjoyed our stay. The 'cottage' is very spacious and well equipped having everything that we required.( No wi-fi, but that was fine as we were trying to 'get away from it all' for a few days).

We had travelled from Europe therefore used bed linen and towels that were provided at the cottage, these were of reasonable quality. There is a modern utility / laundry room making it easy to ' leave the cottage as found' , thus preventing any extra charges for cleaning.

We were fortunate with the weather and were able to spend most of our time by, and on, the lake which was just warm enough to swim in by the ' hardy' members of the family! The dock is bathed in sunshine in the mornings, just perfect for the early risers and so very peaceful.

The owners of this wonderful cottage were very helpful , responding very quickly to all our enquiries. I would certainly be happy to return one day, and have already recommended it to our friends.
