About Patrice

Former Food and Beverage Director in CA.

Advanced education in Hospitality. Beach Bum.

Patrice purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Patrice chose Southern Coast

It's beauty and location. I found the property nearly 20 years ago when it was not for sale. It just happen to be on the market when I moved back to the ocean! My heart lives here, and it brings pleasure and meaning to my life to share this beautiful place.

What makes this cottage unique

Unbeatable views, short walk to beach access. A peaceful spot where you can hear the sea. Pets stay for free and

we offer an enclosed 'Unofficial Dog Park'. The properties large back lot is completely fenced and safe to let your dog or dogs off leash to run around and go to the bathroom. Also, there is an excellent market up the street that carries wine, beer, fresh made sandwiches and hamburgers, movies, pet food etc. A quiet sea side village.

The Pelican Cottage offers a true ocean experience within the 'banana belt' where temps are warmer than expected. We welcome all types of people and we have an unofficial dog park, (a fully fenced back lot) for your dog and doggies to do their duty and exercise safely. Nesika Market, (1 block walk) offers an excellent selection of beer and wine, made to order hamburgers and sandwiches, produce, pet food, and dry goods. Nesika Beach is a small, peaceful village 6 miles N of Gold Beach. Gold Beach 2 grocery stores, pharmacy, hospital, cute shops and hosts the Glass Float Treasure Hunting On the Beach event from February1st through April 30th, the Curry County Fair, etc. Our guests return again and again. You should too!

This was amazing even with the stormy weather.

Thank you to Patrice and her crew. The house was spotless, the cheesecake wine and cookies were so thoughtful. We are already planning our next stay. And the view is absolutely breathtaking!

Relaxing Beach Getaway

  • 5 of 5

I had such a great weekend at The Pelican. The cottage was clean, comfortable and had everything I needed (including coffee!). The property and view were incredible. I hope to be back soon!

Great home but VERY bad experiences with Patrice. Accuracy issues with the listing& missing key info

  • 1 of 5

We experienced multiple issues with our stay; inaccurate property description, lack of key information, and a few serious issues with Patrice.

Inaccurate property descriptions:

1. "We have an unofficial dog park, (a fully fenced back lot) for your dog." Only a single line of rope separates you or your animal from a steep fall to the beach. More troubling, there is only one fence with a giant walkway that has NO GATE. Any person in the world would agree this is not a "fully fenced back lot." Dog owners beware!

2. "The Pelican Cottage will invite you from the moment you stroll up to french doors." This is true, the home does have french doors but Patrice ordered us to close them.

Lack of key information:

1. The Pelican is 10 feet from Patrice's home and she watches you like a hawk. "I live right next door" is need-to-know information.

2. "This property is intended for quiet relaxation only," says Patrice. I describe this encounter below.

3. Maintenance crew or Patrice herself will walk onto the property without notice and remove items or scream at you. We woke up from a brief nap on Saturday to discover that the cover had been put on the hot tub (an oversight by us) AND the table and chairs in the yard had been removed. No sunset dinner for us!

Now my favorite, Patrice.

1. We were there for 2 hours before she stormed over to the property and screamed "TURN OFF THE MUSIC NOW!" The music was Pearl Jam coming out of a $50 Bluetooth . The music was not loud, I had even asked the neighbors if they could hear and they said no. Patrice reacted as if I had a live band on the deck. Patrice then informed me that "the property was meant for quite relaxation, not music!" I politely told her that that was an unacceptable request but I would happily turn it down. She slowly calmed down but that set the tone for the weekend.

2. Patrice charges $125 for a cleaning fee. The book inside says, "Don't bother cleaning up, that's what the cleaning fee is for." We did not damage anything, but did leave a a sink full of dishes. Also, there was sand inside = inevitable.

3. I received this message after leaving, "Wow, we were not expecting what you left behind, a huge mess in the hot tub!!! Amongst other issues. It sadden us that you chose to leave the Pelican Cottage the way you did." 20+ mph wind = sand in the hot tub and the house.

Patrice, your actions ruined our vacation. Update your page to reflect the above inaccuracies and treat your future guests with some respect

Owner's Response: Hello Steve, Thank you for your informative review. We hope you find the perfect place for your next vacation. Patrice and Staff P.S. We have not had even 1 doggie fall off the bluff. We chose not to block the views with fencing. Per the information binder; the dog park is located on the east side of the property and has a dog park sign. The dog park is not located in front of the Pelican Cottage, or the Sunset Cottage. A sink full of dirty dishes is just fine with us. There is a natural tree and shrub privacy screen between the Pelican Cottage and the Whale House. My phone # is on the refrigerator. Please let us know if you have concerns regarding this review. We are happy to help! Patrice and Staff If future travelers have concerns do please let us know. Thank you again

Solitude by the sea.

  • 5 of 5

We are sad to leave! What a beautiful location. This cottage on a bluff overlooking the ocean has all the amenities you need for your home away from home. The comfortable chairs on the deck allow for complete relaxation, enjoying the sun (sunscreen required), listening to the surf and watching the various birds flock by. Absolutely loved it here! Thank you for making it so perfect. (Of course, it helped that the weather cooperated!) Hope to return one day.

Relaxing Romantic Beach Cottage

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Pelican Cottage. The view is amazing and watching the sunset from the hot tub was fantastic. The attention to detail and all the little extras the staff stock the cabin with were appreciated. We will definitely be back.

Quaint cottage by the sea

  • 5 of 5

A lovely, extremely well stocked studio with stunning ocean views. We arrived late in the evening to a nicely lite cottage, fireplace on with soft music to welcome us. The treats left in the fridge, the blankets, dog amenities, comfortable bed made our first and subsequent nights most enjoyable. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone. Weather was very coastal early spring like, which means, rainy however the couple of days we were able to use the outdoor chairs with a glass of wine, hearing the waves crashing, and enjoying some sun made the stay complete. Thank you Patrica! We would stay again.
