We loved our week here! House was effect, beach was gorgeous, close to great sights!
I would definitely recommend this location!!!
The Eagles Nest is Northern Michigan Perfection!
We spent 8 wonderful days here and it was absolutely amazing. The house is beautiful and you can't help but begin to relax as soon as you walk in. The beach was quiet, and private and had the most spectacular wildlife. We had such a fun time and will definitely be back next summer. Thank you so much Sally and Rick for allowing us to make memories in your gorgeous lake home 💙
A wonderful family vacation to the most beautiful beach I have EVER seen!
My husband and I traveled to Manistique with our 3 kids and our German Shepherd. Driving 8 hours in the car is no small task, but believe me when I tell you....it was WORTH IT!!
Immediately when we pulled into the driveway we knew it was amazing. The smell of the trees, and the sound of the water...it was heaven. The house is off Michibay Drive, which is a VERY quiet road. You almost never hear cars going by. It was perfectly secluded, but only 7 minutes from a nice grocery store!
The pictures could never do justice to the amazing beach. We could walk out into the water 100 feet PLUS, and still only be up to our waist in clear water and a perfectly sandy bottom. No rocks, no seaweed...it was like we were in the ocean! Every day brought us a new beach experience. There are days when the lake is quiet, and days when the waves are roaring. We enjoyed the sand and the sun for every possible minute! The sand was so soft and smooth that it actually made squeeking noises under our feet!
Make no mistake though, this house is in the WOODS. Up near the house there are times when the mosquitoes could carry us away. We avoided being outside at peak mosquito time, and we were just fine. Unfortunately for our dog, there was a "pokey pine" (as our kids called it) that liked to hide under the deck. I'd recommend taking a quick look around outside before letting your pets out into the yard. Our dog is fine, by the way. Only a few quills to her face and paw. Could have been MUCH worse, but the little fella was on his way under the deck by the time she caught him.
Our kids are 7, 4, and 2. The 7 and 4 year old shared the loft. It was a perfect play place for them, and they had a blast. However, it doesn't actually get DARK up there until around 11PM. The bedtime struggles were FOR REAL, but they always eventually went to bed. :-)
The kitchen was very well stocked with everything we could ever need to cook. We grilled out every night, and enjoyed making big family breakfasts for the kids.
Sally is the caretaker of the property, and she was super helpful during our stay. She came down several times to help us retrieve things that we needed for our stay. If you get the chance to meet her, you'll agree - she's GREAT!
One of our only wishes for the property was an umbrella for the deck. It would have been nice to have a shady little spot outside to take a break from the sun.
Thank you to Rick and Sally for sharing their home. Truly spectacular!
Great family get away!
Wonderful secluded property with a modern home right on the lake! Our family of 5 stayed for a week and will never forget how wonderful the "Eagle's Nest" is! Two bedrooms with a loft, Satellite TV, full appliances (with convection oven and outdoor grill) and close enough to town and sights to make this a perfect place to get away. Clean and up to date. Would recommend to anyone!
