About the property

Beautifully Restored Heritage Farmhouse By Lake Huron

This wonderful heritage farmhouse, built in 1904 by the owner's great grandfather was restored in 2010. The restoration maintained most original features including woodwork and the original kitchen cupboard. The house is also furnished with original antiques that have been in the house since it was built. There are three spacious bedrooms, (1 queen, 1 double, 1 dbl/single bunk) sleeps 7. The main bathroom features a luxurious claw foot tub and large glass shower with a rain shower faucet. A second, 2 pc. bathroom on the main floor also features a washer and dryer. Custom built kitchen cabinets with all amenities, including dishwasher and laundry. Geo-thermal heat and central air.

This house is on a quiet country setting close to a beautiful, Lake Huron beach. Getting to the sandy beach is just a short, 10 minute walk or a quick bike ride. In the summer months enjoy the outdoor living space on the spacious 2 level deck with BBQ. The house sits on the original farm, still owned by the family, so there you can enjoy the peace, quiet and space of the property.

This property is a seasonal vacation property, (spring, summer, fall), so if you are looking for peace and quiet in the country, this vacation retreat will provide this. Go for a sunset scroll on the beach or a hike through the bush. Lake Huron offers some of the best sunsets in the world!

We are located half way between Kincardine and Goderich, (15 minute drive each way), both being beautiful Lake Huron coast towns with many shops and restaurants. There are many golf courses in the area and you can also enjoy puttering through the countryside and visiting some Mennonite farms who provide lots of produce and baked goods. This property is also only 1/2 hour from The Blyth Festival and 70 minutes from Stratford.

The location of the farmhouse is known for having the lowest light pollution south of Wiarton so it is perfect for star gazers!

Longer rentals also considered.

About Owner / Property Manager

The farmhouse was built by my great grandfather, Alexander MacKenzie. It is a beautiful location to have a quiet and serene vacation or weekend retreat.

My husband and I travel a few times during the year and always book our accommodations through VRBO/HomeAway. As a traveller using properties on this website, I hope that I can provide a positive experience for those of you using my farmhouse!

I live close by in the small town of Goderich so am always available.

A real treasure!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first ever family summer vacation, even before we arrived, we knew it was going to be good and it really was lovely! The house is a gem. Worked out very well for the 7 of us, lots of space for the toddlers to do laps, we could all sit at the dinner table, two beautiful bathrooms, air conditioning, internet, NETFLIX and more!!! The kids loved the yard and spent lots of time in the inflatable pool we brought, played baseball, t-ball, catch etc. The kitchen had everything you could think of, great BBQ and deck. Only checked out the beach once, it was a bit more of a walk than we could handle with two 2 year olds and a 5 year old. Went to Pt Clark a couple of times and that worked out well. Kincardine too and loved it. Lots of charming places close by. This is a beautiful and peaceful place, you will love it!

Awesome!

  • 5 of 5

We were working in the area and needed a place to stay. We were fortunate enough to find the farmhouse. The three of us stayed there a little more than a month and a half and loved it. The house has everything one could want or need for a stay short or long (or longer). The updated kitchen and bathroom were personal favourites. It is obvious that the hosts take great pride in the maintenance and appearance of the property. The house made being away from home so long that much easier and comfortable. Without a doubt we would come back!

Perfect for a family

  • 5 of 5

Excellent customer service - prompt replies by text were very helpful. Owners went our of their way to return items we forgot at the farmhouse. We are a family of four with a toddler and a tween - lots of things to explore in the area for all of us - beautiful quiet beach with shallow water, Mennonite community and farmers' market to visit, running, biking, or just hanging out at the porch/deck/garden to enjoy the view. The farmhouse is kept extremely clean and is spacious. It was so nice to have every meal outside. Thank you!

Peaceful get-away in the country

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and our 2 Goldens stayed here for 2 weeks this summer and loved it. We were drawn to it by its location near the lake, big yard for dogs to play and beautiful interior with all the amenities of home. We concur with the previous reviewers who gave it high ratings. We especially loved touring the back roads of Huron County and Goderich was just a 20 minute drive away to enjoy the farmer's market and lovely downtown. We had great weather so spent lots of time on the huge back deck where we could read and watch clouds or the corn swaying in the breeze. The history of the farmhouse is very interesting and many thanks to the owners for sharing their ancestral home.

Farmhouse vacation

  • 4 of 5

This summer, we rented the farmhouse for one week. House is clean, very well maintained, its farmhouse characteristics were preserved, but renovations also provided for a few modern touches that will wow you. Backyard is big and peaceful, great for relaxing. In the evening, we were able to hear the sound of the waves crashing into the shores of Lake Huron. Restaurants and shopping are 15-20 minutes away north or south. There are many beautiful sandy beaches along the shores of Lake Huron, we decided to visit a different beach every day. Driving through farm country and stopping to buy baked goods or fresh produce was fun too.
