Why Cheryl Chiu chose Kuulei Tract

We chose to live in Kailua for its natural beauty, amazing beaches, small community setting, quality public schools, low crime, easy commute, and most of all, to get away from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu. We are raising two boys who are active in all outdoor sports. Whenever we get the whim, we just grab a towel and boogie boards and walk to Kailua Beach. Kailua Town offers an eclectic variety of restaurants and shops, and Whole Foods Market...our family's favorite place to shop. Easy access to 3 different Farmer's Markets that take place during the week. Restaurants, coffee houses, unique gift shops are all just a few minutes walk from the property. Come stay with us and enjoy the beauty, serenity, and vareity that Kailua offers.

Located just 5 miles from Marine Corps Base-Hawaii. Kailua Dreams provides vacationing military personnel or those on TLA easy access to the base and all of its amenties to include the Marine Corps Exchange, commissary, Klipper golf course, and Semper Fit Fitness Center.

We spent one week in Oahu, and are very happy we stayed there. Highly recommend, and will consider this property in the future for myself again.

A beautiful place to stay in Kailua's greatest spot.

  • 5 of 5

Minimum stay is 31 days so it is a completely legal rental home away from home, as opposed to a non-compliant, unlicensed short-term vacation rental. You will sign a lease.

This unit is one floor above ground, on a quiet, exclusive street in the Ku'ulei Tract, a great part of Kailua. Windows on all four sides provide a wonderful through breeze, and while there is air conditioning, you are unlikely to need it. At night, there is virtually no car traffic and you will clearly hear the surf from the bed. The birds will start your day every morning with pure, natural Hawaiian sound.

A very attractive, and very clean 1 bed 1 bath kitchenette apartment, with extremely nice owners/hosts, who live in the main house. Beneath this unit is the garage, so you don't have to tiptoe. We felt very lucky to have found this place, and if you are in a position to stay in one place for a minimum of a month there is nowhere better on the island. Walk 6 minutes one way and you are on the sand, and walk 6 minutes the other way and you are in Kailua Town. Just a perfect location.

There is cable Internet and cable TV with VCR, and a parking spot. The owners will help you with anything you need. We were there April to May 2016 while house-hunting. I can not do justice with words, it was the perfect place to live if you need a fully-furnished short-term residence. Moving out will be a hard thing to do!

Good location in a quiet neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed in the Kailua Dreams apartment for three weeks. It was exactly as advertised - lots of room in a good location. The neighborhood is quiet and is nearby a terrific beach and close to shops and restaurants. We also made several trips into Honolulu and found it an easy 20 min. drive (non rush-hour). Cheryl and John responded quickly to our few requests. We have used Home Away in many locations throughout the world and Kailua Dreams ranks among the best.

Great Location and wonderful stay!

  • 4 of 5

I frequently travel to Oahu for work and this property has one of the best locations! It is a quick drive to Kailua town (and you could walk if needed) and situated in a quiet neighborhood. Very large and clean unit. I love the AC it is quiet and on cool nights, it is not needed with the trade winds. If I was on vacation, I definitely would stay here as well. Kailua beach and Lanikai beach are very close by. I did have an issue with the doors not locking properly, but Cheryl had them fixed as soon as possible.

Location! Location!

  • 4 of 5

If you are looking to stay away from the crowds of Waikiki then this place is it! The condo is about a five minute walk to Kailua Beach! After beach hopping around the island I do agree with the reviews that Kailua Beach is one of the nicest beach in Oahu. What is even better is that the closest public entrance to Kailua Beach is actually on the side that is less crowded. I do recommend renting bikes if you plan to visit nearby Lanikai Beach, which has very limited neighborhood street parking. Also, grocery stores, retail, and restaurants are all within walking/biking distance; about a mile or less away. Renting a car is a must to get to this area and surrounding areas.

The condo itself is spacious, clean and well maintained. The beds were comfortable. I really liked how there were plenty of towels. The condo also comes with beach chairs, umbrella, picnic basket, and beach mats. Cheryl also provided beach towels, which was a nice touch. The a/c unit is only located in the bedroom. We stayed in December 2015 and I think it was unseasonably warmer so it was quite humid and I guess some might say hot at times in the living area. Luckily, we live in the part of the U.S. that is hot and humid pretty much year round so it was not a big issue for us. The only thing not on my wish list is a washer and dryer, but there is a nearby laundromat.

As a bedroom community of Honoulu which lies on the other side of the mountain, Kailua offers the small town attraction of shops, eateries, and everything one would need to enjoy its great beaches. The neighborhood setting provides a buffer between the urban sprawl and the beaches which make for much smaller crowds than one would find at beaches in town or on the well-frequented North shore of Oahu.

Most visitors come to Kailua for the watersports, including kayaking and stand up paddling to the offshore islands. Because the birds are ground nesting on this island, no dogs are allowed.

There are four restaurants by Kailua Beach including Buzz Steak House, Kalapawai Market and Deli, Bobs Pizzeria and K&K BBQ. There is also shave ice at Island Snow, snacks drinks and souveniers at the Lanikai General Store and bikinis at San Lorenzo. Most of these businesses are located in the Kailua Beach Center, across the street from Kailua Beach Park at 130 Kailua Rd.

Kailua Beach, on the island of Oahu, is actually descriptive of two distincly different beaches separated by a small and very scenic point. To the west is Kailua beach proper, an approximately two mile stretch of sandy white beach almost always blessed with nearshore waves not enough to be threatening but large enough to attract folks wanting to frolick in the surf.

To the east is the Lanikai beach shoreline, a stretch of about a mile, which due to the outer reef is protected from the wave action that typifies the nearby Kailua Beach. Two islands, about a half-mile offshore provide a postcard view and a great place for kayakers and well-conditioned swimmers to journey to. Here the water is clear and calm and hosting of a number of coral heads allowing for great snorkeling.
