About Eric Vollmers

Yes you read correctly. This property has been in the family since 1909 when they moved "over the hill" from Trinity Center. There is a map of the old family ranch on the wall, and a brief family history on the living room coffee table. The home you see here belonged to my great aunt Arleta and her husband Gus. They owned this home and the "Delta Hotel" during the communities boom days, a period of time when there were 16 saloons in this small community The family still uses the property on a regular basis. My siblings have attached properties and you may see them around. Please respect their privacy. Enjoy watching the trains as they make their way up the Sac. Canyon but exercise caution when crossing tracks.

Please observe these house rules, those noted in the rental agreement, and any others posted in the house: Check In: 3 PM Check Out: 12 Noon. Please rinse beach sand off using hose on front porch. Leave beach shoes on porch. Old House=Old Pipes Flush toilet paper ONLY NO FEMININE PRODUCTS, BABY WIPES, OR DIAPERS IN TOILETS! We charge a basic cleaning fee to cover the costs of laundering sheets, towels, sanitizing, and general cleaning. You can minimize extra cleaning fees by leaving the space as clean as you found it, which includes taking out the trash in provided bags and placing the trash in the outdoor receptacles on the front deck. If extra cleaning is required it is charged at $25 per hour deducted from your security deposit. However, please don't remake the beds if they've been slept in. That way we know which sheets need to be cleaned. Please leave towels and sheets in the laundry basket found in the porch bathroom. Extra dirty linens should be left in a pile on the floor by the dinning room table. Damages or missing items will be charged against your security deposit. Missing key fee= $25. . Please remember to wash dishes and BBQ tools after use, and kindly keep your noise to a minimum after 10:00 if neighbors are in town. Thank you,

Easy access off of the highway. We felt very much at home and the house had everything we needed.

Our overall experience was very relaxing. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed. The river access across the railroad tracks was easy and well worth the short walk. The river beach and swimming hole were fantastic!!!! We made some side trips to the caverns and to Dunsmuir. They to were great. Be sure to eat at Yaks in Dunsmuir. The owner Eric was always available by phone if needed. We all want to come back.

It was just the Get-Away that we needed! Close to home, yet far enough away to feel like we were on vacation. Property was clean, well equipped, simple and basic, just what we needed. We did not spend much time indoors the large lawn area was great for kids to run around and play on, the large deck great for relaxing and bbq. A nice "community" to take a walk around after dinner and try to imagine life there during the railroad days. We had a great time! We booked on short notice and the Owner was great to work with! Thanks for a great birthday weekend escape!!

Favorite Fishing Lodge

  • 5 of 5

My fishing buddies and I call this cozy fishing lodge home for our annual float tube fishing weekend ( 3 years). This Location is prime for fishing on the nearby Sacramento River or motoring to nearby Lake Shasta. Trout, Bass, and Blue Gill are plentiful in these waters. The Lodge is comfortable and we'll stocked. Plenty of room for 3 to 6 people to stretch out and relax. The large deck area with table and chairs is terrific for meals, socializing, or sleeping on the outdoor bunks. Beautiful mountain views, large open yard and mature shade trees make for a peacful and relaxing vacation. I highly recommend this property. We will be back next May. Fish On!

Cozy Cabin

  • 3 of 5

Our stay was quite comfortable in this quiet getaway cabin. The wonderful sounds of the trains rolling by (no whistles) enhanced our experience. Eric was upfront with certain limitations of a couple amenities, so we knew what to expect. Our stay was in winter, but this would be a wonderful summer getaway as well.

A gem on a river

  • 4 of 5

This is a unique spot with a setting that is hard to beat. The house is 200-300 yards or so from the best swimming hole we have ever seen on the Upper Sacramento River - yet not popularly known so usually we had it to ourselves. Views of spectacular mountains around. The house is located in a small grouping 3 or so other houses about half a mile from the freeway but hidden away enough that you had no traffic and felt like a real wilderness experience. There is a train track the runs between the house and the river which was very exciting for our 3 going on 4 year old. We did not get much fishing in being busy with small children but clearly a great entrance point for those interested in good river fishing. Easy access within 30 or so minutes to Dunmuir and a tad further for Mr Shasta City or Reading to the South. We ventured away from the river only two days during our week - and found great activities at Lake Shasta (15 mins)m, Reading and Mt Shasta City. The house was wonderful for us - large downstairs for family time and huge deck surrounded by huge lawn - including fresh blackberries on the fence the the remnants of an apple orchard. Two bed rooms and a bunkbed on the outside covered portion of the deck made sleep arrangements good. Kitchen is average - but well stocked with all the essentials. Owners were great from initially signing up to helping with any questions when we were there. This is a genuine gem and was an unforgettable vacation for us - we hope to be back often.
