Me and my wife are French, we are happy to offer our lovely villa in Moorea.
Chantal purchased this Villa in 2005
Why Chantal chose Papetō'ai
We love wood house, and we discover Moorea 10 years and found this nice spot on the beach and decide to order from Bali this teak house design by famous architect in France.
What makes this Villa unique
We choose this land because of the water color and deep lagoon in front of our house, very good diving and snorkeling spot. Our Beach is protected by the reef. The only access to the beach is from the residence.

Beautiful house with great location
The house was large spacious and beautifully located in a gated community. Eric the house manager lives just a few houses away and responds quickly to emails. When we requested where the barbecue was he let us know that it needed to be replaced and he would bring us one the next day, which he did along with charcoal and starter. He did everything to make our stay very comfortable. Being right on the water was lovely. The only area of the house that has air-conditioning is the master bedroom ( The house is set up more for a couple with children versus two couples )and my husband and I were staying in the second bedroom but with the fan going we were very comfortable at night sleeping. The house truly is an indoor outdoor paradise with the master suite and the main living area opening up completely to the out door deck. The house does need a little maintenance. The outside deck is coming apart in some areas and you have to be careful that you don’t trip or your toes don’t get caught at it. And the stairs going down to the beach are definitely not safe for anyone who is older or small children. The walkway to the stairs from the house is too close to the deck and you have to be careful not to hit your head.(which I did). There is a garage under the house but unfortunately they have a car in it and so you cannot park your rental car there and it has to sit in the sun which was very uncomfortable for my parents that are in there 70s. You can snorkel right out from the house, you just have to go a little ways and you’ll see beautiful coral heads with a multitude of fish.
NICE VILLA Great views but Dated and somewhat dirty when we arrived.
We did enjoy the Villa. It had amazing views and was well equipped BUT as stated has air c, it was NOT air conditioned only one bedroom (poorly) plus some of the fans were broken so needless to say it was way to hot during the day..
Yes when we had a breeze is was nice but still hot... with no fans or few working...
Nights were okay unless there was no breeze. The mosquito plugs do work so use them. That did not become much of a problems with all windows and doors open 24/7 during our stay.
We enjoyed the dip pool especially in the stars and the reef right out the back yard only 200 feet away. That was amazing great snorkeling, coral, fish, shells galore. As good as you get anywhere in all of Tahiti including Bora Bora.
The caretaker was extremely helpful Erick and answered all calls and solved all our issues where to go and what to do's. BUT he or who ever cleans did not do a great job with each weeks cleaning. (we did not bother him after the fact and our arrival with that) The floors were dirty in all corners and where furniture was not moved. The columns though very pretty and decorative were very full of MOLD (which could easily be sprayed and cleaned with clorox). We were very disappointed in the cleanness. The roof by the columns leaks not noticeable and is the cause of the green and moldy columns,. Two of us were builders and could easily see the fix. We overlooked it and enjoyed ourselves....
The location is excellent, if you can walk a little say 1/2 mile or less.... It's near 3 grocery stores and using all three works pretty good all very different. Fairly close to restaurants, good ones. (Most pick you up and return you for FREE so don't call taxi) We say only pick resturants with a ocean view as it avoids lack of breezes as many NOT Air C or so so.
Taxi rides should be reviewed ASK PRICE. Some charged $20 others $10 to go the same 2 miles. Albert is the best, fairest and easiest to use including car rentals.... By far the cheapest on everything..
One thing that needs to be fixed ASAP is the steps down to the ocean by the shower. There is only one small set and no railing and very small steps. It could be an easy injury if you are not extremely careful.
All in all we DID enjoy the villa and her views. I hope they do the repairs and get a better house cleaner in between guests. Thanks for all the help Erick.
I’m glad to know you had a great time at the villa with your friends. I did my best to make your stay pleasant.
Regarding your review, I would like to make the following comments :
- The cleaning lady has cleaned up every room of the house as she does each time (she works at the house for one year or more). Nowhere in the reviews of previous guests you can read that the house was dirty. Never. Of course, every big furniture is not removed for every cleaning. I hope you can understand that. I point out that you’ve never called me or talked about that when you met me at many times. Why ?
- Fans : Only the ceiling fan of the master bedroom was out of order. You don’t mentioned that there was an additional fan in that room. You forgot to say that the master bedroom is air-conditioned ! Further more, this room is well-ventilated thanks to the five large sliding-doors.
- Yes, it’s hot in french Polynesia in February-March : it’s the hot and raining! If you don’t like to be warm, next time you come to visit our country, please come in June, July or August in the cool season. By doing this, you’ll avoid mosquitoes too.
- Regarding the mold on the columns : that problems comes from a water leak in the angles of the gutters. Someone came a few weeks ago to try to fix. He did his best but we have to wait the end of the rainy season to remove all the gutter to make an effective repair.
Overall feel free to come back and visit us again. I am sure you'll have a greatr time.
Eric the devoted villa's manager.
Such a beautiful home!!! We had such a terrific and peaceful vacation here!! Eric was wonderful!! So kind and so helpful before and during our visit! Such a nice man! Even brought us a coconut and fresh fruit a couple times during our stay. Lovely!! The home is gorgeous and had every amenity we needed. Including a nearby store with yummy chocolate croissants. Mmmmm.... Had those a few times! I loved relaxing on the patio lounges while my son played in the jacuzzi, looking out at the gorgeous view with lovely breezes!! Yes this place is ideal!! We also hiked, shopped, snorkeled the island, ate out, and kayaked out in front of the house seeing rays and pretty fish but I loved just hanging out at the house enjoying the sunshine! As a side note: we had those sliding glass doors/wall open all the time and now I want them desperately in my home! Loved them! The nights we had rain, the rain trickles through the metal drains in the center indoor patio and makes the most beautiful sound! Also, the master shower with the door open to a view of the beach!! Fantastic! Again, Eric is so lovely, kind and helpful! We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home!! Would definitely stay in this beautiful again!
Thank you so much for reviewing our little paradise.
It makes us so happy to see that our guests enjoyed it the same way as us.
You'll be always welcome back to our paradise.
See you soon.
This was so much better than advertised! I cannot begin to describe how beautiful the house is and how breath taking the sunrises and sunsets are. We went snorkeling and kayaking every day (equipment provided). We were there for 2 weeks and since rental cars are fairly expensive we decided to rent one for 3 days one week and then did it again the next week. On the days we had the car we toured the island, went scuba diving, took in a native Polynesian dinner and show, visited beaches, swam with sharks and rays, went shopping and out to eat. On the days we did not have the car, we hung out at the house and enjoyed the spectacular views in any direction. You can do as much or as little as you like and that was exactly what we wanted. Eric, the caretaker, is a terrific guy. He was there for anything we needed. This was one of those once in a lifetime trips for us but if there is anyway we could go back, I would in a heartbeat.
Thanks a lot for your review, I am so happy that enjoyed our villa as we do.
Please feel free to come back, I'll be happy to offer you a discount.
We are planning ton increase the size of our villa from 2 bedrooms to 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
The home is beautiful in a quiet gated community, with view of the beach and easy access. Eric greets you with leis made by his wife at the airport if you wish to pay a small amount for transfer this is worth it. Use of the car is a good deal far less than a rental company, we used it every day. when we arrived to the villa fresh flowers were placed all over the home with a fresh fruit basket, made us feel welcome. Eric went over how to use everything in the home along with a book put together on contact information and things to do on the island. A phone is provided in the home along with purified water. There is a Jacuzzi tub on the deck however we did not use it and keep ourselves busy with things to do around the island. Take the boat ride with Eric it's an unforgettable experience, he spend more time with you than the tour companies. It is also private, bring snorkel with you to see the sharks, rays and water life.
Eric was available for every need, if you are wanting a resort life don't chose a vacation rental. we enjoyed cooking our meals to our liking and eating when we pleased. The privacy was great, neighbors were pleasant, and view is outstanding. The home is well taken care of, we don't mind a few mosquitos, and geckos. This is an island full of vegetation with very high humidity and very beautiful. I do advise all who wish to visit to change currency to French Frank as the locals will take more than you owe so beware. If your looking for a nice place to stay on Moorea I recommend this villa highly.
Just as advertised, excellent, comfortable, beautiful property. Eric is an excellent host. We had a lovely, relaxing time. Would absolutely stay here again.
