Situated on the beautiful Belfast Bay in St. Philips, Parson’s Maule is the perfect seaside getaway. The unit includes a fully furnished kitchen that over looks the water, with the bedroom tucked in behind a few stairs up - giving you the same beautiful view day and night.
Minutes away from some of Antigua’s most notable historic sites, our charming gated community offers security, as well as a shared pool and dock for all tenants.
My name is Kelly and I am from the Toronto area. We are new to VRBO (just listed in January of 2014), and are excited about this new venture! We have been in the rental business for many years, but are only just discovering advertising on an international scale (!!).
Fifty plus years ago, my grandfather fell in love with Antigua, and uprooted his wife and four kids. He built many of the hotels on the island (including Curtain Bluff, Jolly Beach, and the Holiday Inn which is now the St. James Club) before he began building houses.
I too love this island very much, and hope that any visitors who come, to stay in one of our properties or not, enjoy their experience as much as I do.
Jack (grandpa) built on this piece of land because he loved ocean view properties on nice quiet bays. It is a community off the beaten path (so expect to see the creatures that come with that), but it is also a 20 minute drive from the exciting nightlife and rich history of English Harbour. Parsons Maules is also very close to some great beaches like Half Moon Bay (my favourite), Long Bay (snorkelling), and Pigeon Beach.
Our stay in Seaside Cottage was even better than we expected. From a friendly and helpful welcome at the airport, a patient visit to a supermarket and help whenever requested it was a happy and memorable experience.
Only the grassy strip for parking your car separates this cottage from the beach in Belfast Bay - a quiet almost land-locked lagoon, where one can swim, though beach shoes are advised. The pool is right by the front door and there is direct access to the verandah too. Just the occasional user from one of the other properties. The other permanent members of the community were very friendly and helpful when asked.
Being on a private estate, there are no day trippers, unlike popular beaches. A car is needed to reach tourist attractions, restaurants, shops, churches etc as well as the airport or ferry terminal. For people who like quiet spots and lovely views, this is a good place to stay. Access by car to other popular scenic beaches and other attractions is mostly by quiet roads on the less-developed eastern side of the island, or across the centre and down Fig Tree Drive.
There was a refreshing breeze that rendered A/C or even a fan unnecessary, at least in January anyway, one just needs to regulate the numbers of windows left open to suit its strength or direction. There is always a choice of shade or sun-exposure according to taste. One is surrounded by trees and so falling leaves and fruit and other rural noises are part of the environment in addition to wind and waves, but man-made noise is only occasional and distant.
This is definitely somewhere we would like to visit again.
