We had a wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay in this Country farmhouse! Two of my old friends from college days and I spent a long weekend enjoying the property and the surroundings. The house is totally well equipped with everything one could need, the beds more comfortable than you'd find in a fine hotel, the house was very clean, and Tish was incredibly responsive to any inquiries or needs we had. I would strongly recommend this VRBO to anyone wanting to visit the Staunton area!

Very comfortable!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed being out in the countryside for a couple of nights. I sat out on the front porch in the sun, drinking coffee and taking in the view.

The property was clean and well-maintained! The teens enjoyed using the spa. We enjoyed eating at the Depot Grille for dinner, the Split Banana for dessert, and Kathy's for breakfast.

The only downsides were no internet (but we knew that ahead of time) and no ESPN to watch football. Otherwise, it was very enjoyable.

Middlebrook's best kept secret. Far exceeds all expectations. Absolutely loved it!

  • 5 of 5

This place far exceeded all expectations. Everything from booking our reservation, arranging our arrival (getting key, directions, etc), to checking out was super fast, convenient, and seamless. The cost was more than reasonable for what you get.

We arrived on a Friday afternoon and easily found the home. While it is decorated beautifully and is super clean it didn't feel uncomfortable (as if you're afraid to do anything for fear of messing something up). It was a cool, rainy day when we arrived and I contacted Tish, the owner, about starting the fireplace. I received a text back in a reasonable amount of time with directions on how to get it started. We opted not to light it and go exploring instead.

The living room had plenty of seating and when it says there is a large selection of dvds to watch, that's an understatement. We didn't even need to bring the couple of dvds we brought as the selection here was huge and varied. Something for everyone. There is a table in the kitchen as well as the dining to accommodate seating for 6 comfortably. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you'd need to cook a good meal. All appliances worked and were super clean. There was a washer and dryer in the downstairs bathroom which would be great for washing clothes on extended stays. The bedrooms were clean and beds comfortable. Plenty of blankets should the weather get chilly. Sheets and and towels in bathroom smelled freshly laundered. Speaking of bath towels, there were plenty and they were soft and thick. Not like cheap hotel towels. There was even a basket of goodies that included everything from toothbrush to feminine products in case we forgot something from home. The view from the front porch are breathtaking. We even got to hear the local cows one morning.

Saturday we opted to go into Staunton. There were so many wonderful shops and only about 15 minutes from the house. We had breakfast at Kathy's before heading to Sunspots Studios to experience glassblowing and make our own ornament. Kathy's had an amazing breakfast selection at reasonable prices. We had lunch at the Depot Grill. It too had amazing food. After a day In town, we headed back to the house where we grilled out and soaked in the hot tub. We will be going back for a longer stay. You get a whole lot for your money at this place. Comfort, relaxation, and quality time with loved ones. Wish we could have stayed longer. Thank Tish for sharing your home.

Wonderful property to spend vacation

  • 5 of 5

The stay was very nice and enjoyable for my family. We had great time and the property was exactly the way we expected. Tish was really helpful throughout our trip. She helped us by replying every questions we asked at any time. I would like to recommend this property to my friends.

Lovely and quiet

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time staying in Middlebrooke at the Farm House. The house could not be more well placed to enjoy a quiet weekend, get into Staunton and see the sites in the surrounding area, or visit iconic local places like Polyface. House is even nicer in person than the pictures and listing make it out to be! Owner was exceptionally easy to work with.

Car: necessary

This property is in the heart of Shenandoah Valley between Staunton and Lexington. Just 15 minutes from interstate 81 which makes it easy access to such attractions as Massanutten summer and winter resort and Wintergreen ski resort. Also, nearby is cultural attractions such as the Natural Bridge attractions, Grand Caverns, The American Shakespeare Company, and the Frontier Cultural Museum. More activities, history, and culture in this area then I can list.
