Beautiful, peaceful location; great house with fantastic amenities. The owners attention to details and comfort throughout the house are great. Alan proactively contacted us to ensure all questions were answered Immediately upon arrival. Excellent location and beautiful house
We really loved our week at Alan's lakehouse. The house is the perfect size and has everything you need to grill and cook at home, as well as plenty of outdoor seating. We loved the beach - you can walk into the water without being attacked by seaweed. The paddle board was a great way to start the morning - and the view from the house, deck, and hot tub is amazing. The cable TV, Netflix, and internet are great to have for rainy days and keeping up on work things. We truly enjoyed our stay and would love to come back - thank you again Alan!
Glad you enjoyed the property. It is a special house that offers it all. From water sports to waterfalls and wineries. And of course the sunsets are dazzling. Come again soon, Alan
Welcoming, Charming, and Delightful
We stayed here the week of August 18-25, 2018. It is well appointed and sparkling clean. With four spacious bedrooms, it easily accomodated our family group of eight. We all enjoyed our stay enormously, including our two granddaughters who had an especially good time in the hot-tub! There was a fire already laid in the fire pit. We used the kayaks a lot! The view of the sunset from the dock is lovely. The location of the house was perfect for our plans to see as many waterfalls as we could fit in. We even "discovered" a new one that we'd never visited before.
Glad you enjoyed your stay. August is such a spectacular month in the Fingerlakes. So much to see and do, and I hope you named your newly discovered waterfall after your granddaughters. Alan
Beautiful views and sunsets. Relaxing and peaceful. Comfortable beds. Had a brief plumbing problem, but owner was very responsive and helpful. Overall, loved it.
Glad to host such a wonderful group. The weather over the summer pumps some amazing sunsets and its often the high point of the day.
Plenty of comfortable space for a large family made for a great vacation week on the water
Sunset Lodge was a lovely location for our family vacation, providing water views that were absolutely superb along with terrific recreational opportunities. With the house being right on the lane, the parking at the house was perfect, and drives to local attractions were reasonable. The dock was in great shape and proved to be very useful. Having a hot tub built into the deck was divine, although the cover was remarkably heavy--good for keeping little children out I suppose. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed--utensils, dishes, supplies, etc.--and everything worked great, especially the coffee maker. The wireless connection to the internet was reliable and the selections on TV were amazing. Communications with the owner were very good throughout the stay.
There was room for improvement in the accommodations in a few areas. During our mid-July week there, a lot of insects were flying around the outdoor lights, making the deck unusable at night, and more than a few made it inside one way or another. (Outdoor area sprays were provided but we didn't take advantage of them.) The upstairs bathroom curtains had a touch of mold on them, although we were told that the owner has taken care of that by buying new ones. Our first two days were very hot, and without air conditioning, sleeping was uncomfortable. There were small holes in the undersides of the deck chairs and some kind of wasp keep flying into them to lay it's eggs. Minor inconveniences overall, to be sure, and nothing that would keep us from coming back next year.
So happy your group had such a great lakehouse experience. No doubt the insects in mid summer do gather around the floodlights; that's why we prefer to leave them off and use the interior house lighting to illuminate the deck and take advantage of the citronella torches on the decks and dining table. That way the outdoor area sprays aren't necessary. But we strive to provide every amenity and have added an electronic bug repel system and additional fans for a comfortable environment. Come again any time..Alan
