About Amelia Torres/Owner, Manager of Casa De Torres

We first experienced Red River, NM on a family vacation Thanksgiving 1996. It was a particularly hard year for our family so we decided on a whim to take a long weekend ski trip!! We loaded up our then two little girls ages 5 and 7 and headed for the mountains!! At the time we rented a two bedroom condo in town and woke up to SNOW!!! The little town of Red River was just magical for our little family. The girls and I skied for the first time ever and my husband was an excellent ski instructor for us because we were on the gold chair by afternoon!! Evenings were spent by a warm fire with cocoa and the cares of life just melted away. We left a few days later rested, happy and with a resolve to one day OWN our own piece of heaven in the mountains!!

Amelia Torres/Owner, Manager of Casa De Torres purchased this cabin in 2002

Everything a person could want in a vacation cabin and much more

  • 5 of 5

This mountain cabin was perfect. Cozy, clean, well maintained & stocked with everything one could possibly need for a no-fuss stay. Nestled in a quiet mountain pass within a short, beautiful 3 mile trek to Red River. During the day, we hung out on the front porch reading, listening to the hummingbirds play, and enjoying the crisp, clean mountain air. The short, intermittent thunderstorms and rain pattering on the tin roof made a nice backdrop for a mid-afternoon nap in the spacious family room right inside the screen door from the front porch. Owner was very helpful with local activities sure to please any age and interest. We especially enjoyed being able to roam the cross country paths through the mountain just behind the cabin every morning and evening without having to get in the car. There's no doubt our family will return.

We were made to feel right at home. Wonderful place! Very caring and helpful owners. It was like we brought our home with us, we'll if our was an awesome log cabin in the mountains!

The cabin is very spacious, it just seems so much bigger than it is. Everything was in great working order. Very easy to keep warm.

Wonderful Setting/Great Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at the cabin! The cabin is cozy, clean, and welcoming. The furniture in the living room is comfortable. The owners have thought of everything a traveler might need during their stay and have it available. We had to call the owners to get the gas fireplace started and they called us back as soon as they got our message. The owners are responsive and very kind. I highly recommend this cabin if you are planning to visit Red River.

Secluded, Quiet and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was a few miles out of town with only a few neighbors nearby. Quiet mornings on the porch with only the sound of the hummingbirds buzzing around the feeder was extremely relaxing. The cabin had everything we needed and more. All you need is the food you are planning to fix while there...everything else is provided. Fireplace was a great feature - as the summer evenings were cooler than usual. Amelia was great at promptly answering ALL of my emails prior to our arrival.

Hope to visit Casa de Torres again soon!

What a great place. Decorated just like a mountain cabin should be. Wildlife all around. Easy access to the highway and you can be in town in 3 minutes. Didn't have any kids but there would've plenty of room for them upstairs if we did. I recommend it highly.

Close to town cozy cabin

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is extremely well furnished with up-to-date furniture, appliances, and all the utensils needed to prepare meals. Wonderful decorations and very clean upon arrival. The fireplace would never light and we were afraid that it would be cold in the house. However, the insulation value of the logs made for a cozy warm environment with only a propane heater that is installed in the main room. We had 4 adults and 4 children using the cabin and all of us slept very comfortably. Deer were off the front porch every night. The cabin is a very short trip into Red River and to outstanding hiking opportunities, yet it is quiet and rustic in the surroundings. We would definitely stay here again, as it is a great value and comparable to a 4 star hotel.
