About the property

Charming 92 Year Old House In The Woods With All The Creature Comforts.

This newly renovated 92 year old house echoes all the charm of a simpler time, but with all the creature comforts to make your family and friends feel right at home today. Respect for the period and integrity of the house is evident in the artful decor. Three bedrooms up stairs off the sunny sitting room have two double beds and one twin bunk bed. The second floor bath features the original claw foot tub next to a window to relax and enjoy the beauty of the season in the woods outside. A bathroom with a walk in shower and laundry area share the first floor with the kitchen and greater living/dining room. The tv and cd player/radio may add to visiting, reading, playing games or napping in the cozy greater room.

The kitchen is fully furnished with gas range, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator along with everything needed to prepare meals. The deck off the kitchen, complete with grill and table and chairs, is perfect for any meal time. It is always comfortable with forced air heat, air conditioning and ceiling fans. All bath and bed linens are provided. A free standing gas fireplace will take the chill of anytime. A favorite is the front porch swing with a cup of tea, coffee or glass of wine, especially during a spring or summer shower.

Seventeen acres of virgin woods on hilly terrain just out the door make exploring on the cut trails an adventure whether with a walking stick in the spring, summer or fall or on cross country skies or snow shoes in the winter.

Nearby points of interest include the Ice Age hiking and biking trails (road traffic is very low), Sunset Lake County Park with a beautiful beach and picnic area. Flume Creek just down the road is a Class A Trout Stream. The Iola Winter Park features beautifully groomed and lighter cross country ski trails as well as ski jumping ramps. You may want to take in the Iola Winter Carnival in February, Iola Car Show (one of the largest in the US) in July, the MREA Energy Fair in June, the Rising Star Mill Art Show in May, the Hidden Studios Art Tour featuring 9 artist studios the first weekend in October when the fall color is spectacular. There is so much to do with Waupaca and Stevens Point 20ish miles away in either direction that you may need to stay an extra week just to relax and rejuvinate where the quiet is really quiet and the stars are really bright.

Very fun Mother's Day weekend!

  • 5 of 5

We were slightly concerned when the owner was hanging around when we arrived and insisted on showing us the house. But we were not bothered the entire stay, so all was good. We had so much fun wandering the forest paths and the kids LOVED the little playing and reading nooks. Nice little getaway.

Beautiful Remodeled Rural Farmhouse

  • 4 of 5

This home is an older farmhouse that has been impeccably restored--with original maple floorings, wide moldings, tasteful decorations and home furnishings, and a fully outfitted kitchen. We would definitely stay here again if the opportunity presented itself again:)

Great place to stay and great hosts.

  • 5 of 5

My wife, daughter and I were up in central Wisconsin for my daughter's campus visit as she is an incoming freshman at the University of Wisconsin (Stevens Point). We planned our stay for three days but were not looking forward to a hotel experience. Brenda & Ken's house was just a lucky find and alternative. Tucked into the woods, it is just a short drive to Stevens Point and several other area destinations. The home has been completely restored and with three bedrooms and plenty of amenities it went well beyond our expectations. There really is not enough room here to tell how great this property is. Full kitchen, shower, claw-foot tub, great Wi Fi, television, DVDs, games, etc. etc. etc. Outside, there are trails to hike through the forest (lots of deer), beautiful flowers, humming birds, outdoor fire pit and best of all...a full raspberry bush ripe for the picking. Brenda & Ken were greats hosts and just extremely nice people. If you need to stay anywhere near this area of Wisconsin, you will really be missing out if you don't take the opportunity to stay at this property. The price, hospitality, setting, hosts and overall experience just can't be beat!

Tranquil, well equiped and lovely. A real gem in a fascinatingly location of Wisconsin

  • 5 of 5

Easy to find and oh so charming. Far enough away to enjoy tranquil sounds of the forest but easy drive to Amherst, Iola, Waupaca and Stevens Point to enjoy so many things the area offers. Brenda and Ken were gracious and generous hosts. They think of everything and genuinely care that you have all you need and give great recommendations about the area.

Perfect spot for a relaxing get-away

  • 5 of 5

Ken and Brenda's home was a perfect spot for a relaxing visit with friends. We had everything we needed. The house was immaculate, the kitchen was well equipped, and the location was peaceful and beautiful. The area has hiking trails, a lovely lake and swimming beach, and there are fun towns for exploring. We would definitely stay here again; Ken and Brenda made us feel very welcome.
