Overview

About the property

2 Bedroom Lovely Home on Gulf Of Mexico, plus a dock to watch sun set.

After a day of fishing, birding, or kayaking, relax on the screened porch and watch the sunset from this gulf front town-home or stroll to village restaurants, bars and marina.

20 feet above the Gulf, perched atop a treed, pre-historic shell mound, our architect-designed town-home invites you to enjoy all that Cedar Key and mother nature have to reveal. Our private dock and verdant garden is overlooked by double-decked screened porches--the lower off the master suite and the upper porch off the great room and its 14-foot cathedral ceiling. On the opposite end of the house from the Master, the private and light-filled guest room has its own full bath.

Cedar Key is a happening place. Thousands of visitors come to enjoy Cedar Key's Old Florida Celebration of the Arts in April, Clamerica Celebration on the 4th of July, the October Seafood Festival and the events of A Cedar Key Christmas between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Smaller events take place throughout the year including the Cedar Key Star Party, fishing tournaments, boat and Kayaking events, nature tours, and community civic and church activities. The town center hosts a great library with yoga, meditation and community lectures.

Comfortable, Large Townhouse

  • 4 of 5

The townhouse was very comfortable with large rooms - except the kitchen, but we didn't spend much time there anyway. The kitchen is equipped with just about everything you need.

The mattress on the king size bed was very soft - not what we are used to but it was very comfortable.

The unit is a little dated and could use some updating.

There is a nice view from the porch. Its not as open as the view from some places but still very nice.

The walls must be a little thin. The neighbor next door had a dog and we could hear it every morning around 7am. Enjoyed working with Anne and she was very accommodating!

We would stay there again.

Great location and comfort in Cedar Key

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed our stay in this gorgeous island. The townhouse was so comfortable and well equipped. Easy walk to the main pier and restaurants. Excellent food and service at Carlin's and the restaurant opposite. Breakfast at Annie's cafe was a great start to the day. Sunset from the dock at the property was fabulous. Getting around on a Gulf Buggy is ideal! Hired canoes and saw so much wildlife round the island Artensie Otie. Thoroughly recommend property and Cedar Key.

Beautiful View, great location

  • 4 of 5

Overall we were pleased with our stay at "Shore Leave". Our family of 4 had plenty of room, especially liked the separate living quarters. The kitchen was well stocked, the house was clean, the linens comfortable.

We were able to launch our kayaks from the beach out back, which was a huge plus for us.

If it was just the 4 of us , we would definitely stay here again. Anne at the mgmt. company was great to work with and very helpful/accommodating! A+

The Perfect Getaway! For M. K.

  • 5 of 5

I have never been to Cedar Key or anywhere like it, and I have only great things to say! I love the location, overlooking the dreamy sunsets and mangroves from your porch or private dock. The charming town--with artists, restaurants, and interesting people--is within a walk or bike's reach. Check out the bookstore--something is always happening and books are on sale for a pittance. You will live in the equivalent of a personal home--decorated tastefully and comfortably. The accommodations are spacious, and as a cook, I found everything I needed. I was surprised I could find fine wines in town. I wish I had had more time to clam, kayak the inner canals, and walk deep into the ocean (forgot my water socks). Though we did take a day cruise, which was delightful to get to know the islands. There is something about the quiet atmosphere of this "Old Florida" approach to life; you will find yourself rested and grateful for this memorable experience!

Great view with lovely Live Oaks

  • 4 of 5

We have been to Cedar Key several times and Shore Leave is our favorite rental. Sitting on the upstairs porch looking at the Gulf through the Live Oaks is a piece of heaven. The perfect place for morning coffee and relaxing after our daily meanderings through the town. The place is comfortable with many thoughtful and artistic touches and everything was clean and ready, with many extra towels, pillows etc. Arrangements were easy - Anne was most responsive and helpful. The 2nd bedroom is in a wing, separate from the living room and from the master bedroom on the ground floor, so perfect for more than 2. The location gives you an "away from it all" feeling, while being within walking distance of all of Cedar Key..Our only quibble is that the cable television is very limited (about 15 channels) and the internet dropped regularly, which may not be a problem to you for a short stay and there is a DVD player.
